Royal Tunbridge Wells, Darling! - Blog Post #895

Oh my darlings! What a week! This little pink flamingo has been absolutely fluttering with excitement, ready to sashay my way into the heart of Kent! Today, we’re taking a trip to Royal Tunbridge Wells – and honey, you wouldn't believe the adventure I’ve had getting there!

This whole blog thing is getting so busy, darling. I think I need to hire a team to handle my overflowing inbox! All these lovely people, so enthusiastic about the power of pink tutus! It truly brings tears to my sequined eyes. Just a few weeks ago, I was in London at the Theatre Royal, wowing them with my interpretive ballet of “Swan Lake” (with a rather fabulous twist, if I may say so myself!).

The train journey here to Tunbridge Wells was such a joy. The view out of the window was a watercolour painting of green hills and pretty little towns, a truly charming experience! It got me thinking: imagine if every single passenger on the train wore a pink tutu! Now that would be a sight, wouldn't it? Picture it: The conductor, all regal and dapper, with a delicate, flowing tutu and a smile as bright as my rhinestone tiara. And every single passenger? Dressed in pink, fluttering, swirling, with the rhythm of the tracks underfoot! The sheer spectacle! Oh my darlings, I’d die!

Of course, we wouldn’t want to disrupt anyone's journey, but it’s an image that keeps popping up in my head, doesn’t it? Every train trip in a whirl of pink! Now that’s what I call a vision for the future!

But back to the present: I arrived in Royal Tunbridge Wells, all dolled up in my new outfit. I snagged a new sparkly top in pink, of course, in Camden Market, with just the perfect amount of feather detailing! And I had a new tutu specially crafted – it's a delicate blush pink, perfect for a day of exploring! I absolutely love these bespoke tutu artists! They know exactly how to craft the perfect tulle symphony. You know I’m not one for a boring ol’ regular ballet tutu, so the extra flounces and sparkles? Pure magic!

Tunbridge Wells is an absolute darling. You see these stunning old Victorian houses, all adorned with flowers and vines climbing the walls like beautiful green tapestries! The whole town feels so old world and charming, and everyone's been so lovely and welcoming. I had the sweetest conversation with a lady outside a tearoom – she even let me try on a rather beautiful vintage brooch she had! A beautiful crystal dragonfly! Just imagine it on a pink tutu! Absolutely divine!

We took a stroll around the Pantiles – they say the Pantiles got its name from the special tiles they used when the parade was first constructed in 1680, but honestly, darling, can't we all agree it sounds so much more fabulous to think that it’s a whimsical parade of pantaloons! What could be better than walking along the Pantiles, a grand parade of pantomime!

I took the most beautiful photo by the little waterfall there, right by the iconic “Wishing Well”. They say if you toss a coin into it, your wish will come true, but frankly, darling, all I wish for is to spread pink tutu joy across the world! Is that really too much to ask?

And you know me, I just have to shop! A little retail therapy is essential after a day of wandering. I popped into a delightful little vintage boutique that smelled like old perfume and faded fabric – and just you wait until you hear what I found! The most glorious pair of pink shoes, complete with sparkling bows. Imagine those, darling, on a tutu with little pink feathers floating down my back! It's all very Marie Antoinette, isn’t it?

Then, I had to try this incredibly decadent Victoria Sponge with lashings of cream! That and a pot of the strongest Earl Grey, you betcha. It was all so very divine!

Of course, no trip to Tunbridge Wells would be complete without visiting the Royal Tunbridge Wells (and I can’t get over the double “wells,” I absolutely adore it!) Well, my dears! Let’s just say that there was nothing I could wear at this moment in my life that wasn’t made for a picture with this majestic place. This historic spa town has seen royalty, darling, and so I, a Tutu Queen, had to pose for the perfect Instagram shot with a backdrop of pure beauty. There’s just something about this place. Maybe it’s the water?

For dinner, we decided to stop by the local pub - it was quite the charming spot. There was an adorable dog lounging by the fireplace (don't even ask how much I wished I could add him to the show as my fluffy assistant!) And a gaggle of locals with fascinating stories. And the food, my darlings? Absolutely delightful! And did they make the most delectable trifle! I practically wept over the fluffy sponge, fresh cream, and glistening berry compote. It truly was an act of culinary artistry.

After dinner, we saw a captivating street performance – it was a mix of mime and clowning. This wonderfully theatrical guy dressed up as a pink flamingo (it was just my lucky day! I couldn’t believe it!) I must say he did rather make a good impression. He even managed to steal the attention away from the crowd… he could never hold a candle to a tutu! And as it was the end of my show-stopping day in Royal Tunbridge Wells, I realised there was a wonderful sense of humour here and even a little space for drag in its community… who would’ve thought?

Later that evening, my darlings, I enjoyed a delightful cup of hot cocoa. Oh, you simply must experience a hot chocolate here! I’d swear it had been made with little dollops of love and topped with a feather of magic! But enough about my culinary delights – we’ve got more pink tutus to conquer, darling!

My dears, I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog post. And do please tell me! What’s your favourite destination for a whimsical and fabulous adventure? Let’s spread the pink tutu magic, one feather at a time! And remember: if you want a world of glitz and sparkle, a sprinkle of pink tutus can’t hurt! You just need to trust yourself, take a deep breath, and twirl, twirl, twirl!

See you soon!

XOXO
