Darling readers! Get ready for a whirlwind of pink! This week, I'm dusting off my feather boas, pulling out my most glittery sequined headbands, and packing my travel-size glitter cannon... because Pink Tutu Sparkles is headed to the beautiful seaside town of Scarborough!
I love Scarborough. It’s just so charming, with the wide sandy beaches, the majestic cliffs, and that iconic castle perched high on the hill. And you know what else I love? A good train journey! Nothing beats the rhythmic clinking of the rails, the passing countryside scenery, and of course, a large pink, sequined handbag overflowing with snacks. You wouldn't believe the reaction I get on the train, with everyone just looking over at me, a little pink cloud of tulle and feathers bouncing in my seat. I think a few have even gone so far as to smile!

But why am I venturing to this lovely North Yorkshire town, you ask? Well, you already know the answer - I’m bringing my sparkly brand of entertainment to a whole new audience! The stage is all set for another performance. This time, I'm taking over the 'Scarborough Town Hall,' it’s going to be a full house, so bring your dancing shoes and get ready to shimmy with Pink Tutu Sparkles. It's a dream come true to share my love of performing, laughter and, yes, even a touch of tutus, with a seaside town that oozes character.
Of course, my travels wouldn’t be complete without a spot of shopping. I love how Scarborough's charming little shops spill onto the high street, full of colourful wares and, I must say, an alarming number of souvenir shops (although, you can never have enough of those). I’m already planning to snag a few treasures to add to my pink tutu wardrobe.
From the lab to the stage, with a bit of magic along the way!
My life is a real balancing act, you know. During the day, I'm hunched over test tubes, in my lab, examining the durability of the latest, groundbreaking fabric technology. You’d never guess by looking at me that my scientific mind is devoted to discovering the best new fabrics for performance outfits. Oh yes, you read that right! It's a secret life - from the lab to the stage and back again!
Now, I wouldn't be true to myself if I didn’t mention my true passion - the ballet. Just before setting off on this trip, I caught a glorious production of “Swan Lake.” The grace of the dancers, the intricate steps, and the haunting music – it left me completely mesmerized! That delicate tulle, floating around those graceful ballerinas - I could have watched them for hours, mesmerised by their poise and elegance. Honestly, sometimes I’m just dying to get back onto the dance floor and get my own graceful steps on. Maybe a few of you will be brave enough to join me?
It all started so many years ago. I was studying chemistry in the most unlikely place, Derbyshire! It sounds bizarre, right? Yet, there I was, stuck in this rural part of England with a massive hankering to dance. You know what I did? I joined the university ballet club and fell in love. Then, for a university fundraiser, I was dared to try on a tutu - and there you have it, the start of a very pink and very fabulous journey! I haven't looked back. It's like a part of me suddenly understood what I was supposed to be - a shimmering, sparkly, fabulous creation of pink feathers and glitter.
