Wrexham: Post #1143: The Pink Tutu Goes To Wales!

Oh darlings, how do you do? Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you another dose of sparkle and all things pink from the beautiful, breezy streets of Wrexham! I'm absolutely thrilled to be writing this blog from Wales - a land of majestic mountains, charming villages, and enough sheep to rival a cloud formation (well, maybe not quite, but there are a lot!)

As you all know, my latest adventure started on a crisp February morning. With a suitcase overflowing with shimmering pink outfits (and naturally, a bevy of beautiful tutus) and a heart full of excitement, I boarded the train at Derby station, a mere 180 miles from my Welsh destination. The journey, by train, is such a wonderful way to experience the beauty of our island - whizzing through countryside, spotting sleepy villages and breathtaking scenery. And of course, there's always time for a good gossip with fellow passengers or, for me, a little makeup touch up for a potential surprise performance on board! (Sadly, nobody asked for the queen this time. The people in Wales are rather shy.)

The Welsh countryside greeted me with its dramatic mountains and patchwork fields, a delightful canvas for my favourite shade: pink. Yes, I’m wearing my favourite pink tutu today, darling, you just haven't seen it yet, because the good old internet doesn't show my actual sartorial splendor, just the words, my sweet, sweet words. Now imagine my glorious pink fluffy tutu twirling gently as I make my way through Wrexham. Yes, I have an extra big suitcase, my dear. Can you even begin to imagine?

As soon as I arrived in Wrexham, I felt a magical pull - this was a place with history whispering in the wind and laughter bouncing off the cobbled streets. Oh, I must tell you about Wrexham's beautiful Victorian Market. Just darling! You know how much I love an indoor market, so many treasures to uncover. And Wrexham’s market certainly had those, including beautiful scarves, some even with a touch of pink, some with sheep, some with daffodils! And a fabulous display of Welsh cakes that you could smell before you even stepped inside!

This isn't my first trip to Wales - a land that captured my heart with its beautiful landscapes and warm, friendly people. (Honestly, I think they are secretly thrilled to see me come traipsing around their streets! All those pink smiles! )

Of course, Wrexham has a little something for everyone. If you are a lover of historical architecture, there is the stunning St Giles' Church, an architectural gem with soaring spires. (Don’t worry, darling, I didn't climb them – my tutus are meant for swirling, not scaling. One does need to keep it dignified. )

As any fan of the arts will tell you, a trip to a theatre is a must! Wrexham's theatre, a glorious, old-fashioned beauty with a certain something, offers performances for all tastes - whether it's an exciting drama or a rousing musical, the laughter and applause is enough to melt your heart (and inspire you to do some serious pink tutuing yourself!).

Speaking of melting your heart, there’s a fabulous chocolate shop with an even more fabulous pink display of confectionary delights. You know, my love of pink transcends even food, because a certain pink ice cream had my attention too. And in Wrexham there is no lack of opportunity to indulge in sweet treats – Wrexham's very own little bakery just screamed pink too! What an exciting treat! It really is true that all the little towns have little treasures for the Pink Tutu Sparkles. (But to be fair, even the ones that don't have a fabulous bakery and an eye-watering, rainbow assortment of fudge are still delightful!)

For a city girl like me, I was surprised to discover Wrexham's fantastic outdoor space. Oh, the fresh air - so invigorating! Imagine: pink tutu swirling gently through fields of green, a breathtaking view of the town unfolding behind me. Simply magical!

But I can't forget to tell you about Wrexham’s beautiful National Trust property, Erddig, my lovelies, just ten miles out of the city. It was originally a mansion built by a Welsh family for themselves, and oh the gardens! I couldn't believe my eyes! The parkland here is absolutely lovely – green hills and valleys rolling out behind a house made of mellow, pale brick and surrounded by gorgeous, colorful gardens. They are as colourful as a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance, with more pink flowers than you can shake a feather boa at! But, this trip really had me reflecting on the idea that all our small houses in Derby have so much history behind them too.

But it's the people of Wrexham who make this place truly special - always up for a laugh, full of vibrant life and a genuine, infectious kindness. Even the shops on the main high street were happy to let a glamorous gal like me stand by their door, whilst I told everyone how gorgeous everything was!

Wrexham was such a feast for my senses - so full of color and history. (And pink! I swear to god, you could write an entire blog on the beautiful shades of pink you can find just in the centre of this city. Not a surprise really. ). My adventures are not complete, of course.

And I must also give you a heads-up! I found myself on an old street lined with stunning, old buildings where the pavement had to be re-layed to let you safely pass the most beautiful historical pub with pink, flowery garlands adorning the doorway! Who knew they could possibly use a color such as pink so wonderfully for a traditional British pub? So, after a hard day touring the city and meeting local pink fans, there's nowhere better than a pub to celebrate the fact that your sparkly day is drawing to a close. I am so very glad to see that Welsh people know a thing or two about decorating with colour!

Of course, the best part of any trip? Sharing the experience with you all! But my trip wouldn’t have been the same without meeting so many fabulous individuals who are as passionate about their beautiful Wrexham as I am about my pink tutu! It’s truly heart-warming, you see!

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to visit Wrexham again! There’s so much to see and do that I’ve got a feeling it will take many pink-filled trips before I experience this delightful place fully! This is my next planned visit, dear ones, but let me know where you think Pink Tutu Sparkles should be going next – write it in the comments below. Let’s plan a sparkly journey together!

Until next time,

Pink Tutu Sparkles

P.S. My readers, did you know that Wrexham's got some impressive plans for the future, especially for their centre? Well, with Pink Tutu Sparkles visiting the town, that must be one of the good things that happens after one does their own exciting tour of Wrexham. Oh, dear ones, it just made me realise something! Don’t forget to tell me your plans! Tell me how to make them pink! Because you see, after reading about the amazing Wrexham that Pink Tutu Sparkles discovered this month, you must think how you can bring a bit of sparkle to your world, right? Tell me in the comments how I can help you make that vision into a beautiful pink-tutu reality.
