Barking, Here I Come! 🩰💖🚂 (Post #1148)

Hello darlings, it's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, sparkle-loving, ballet-obsessed queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles! 👑

Today, I'm shimmying my way into your hearts, or maybe just your screens, all the way from sunny (well, hopefully sunny!) Barking. That's right, my loves, I'm bringing the magic of Pink Tutu Sparkles to the heart of East London, and I couldn't be more excited!

This trip marks my 1148th blog post - can you believe it? A thousand and one hundred and forty-eight days of tutus, glitter, and good times! It's been an incredible journey, from performing in local village halls to gracing the stage at grand theatres, and each adventure has been just as fabulous as the last.

And speaking of adventures, let's talk about getting to Barking! I always try to travel in a way that embodies the pink tutu spirit. So naturally, I chose the most fabulous mode of transportation – the train! 🚂 It's a great opportunity to people-watch, to indulge in a good book, and to imagine myself swirling through a ballet scene with every rumble of the wheels. There's just something magical about seeing the countryside flash by and knowing you're headed towards your next big performance. Of course, I didn't forget to accessorize with a splash of pink and a few shimmering sparkles for good measure. 😉 A touch of sparkle is never a bad thing!

When I'm not traveling by train, I like to ride a horse. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, and the rhythm of a horse's hooves under your feet. I’m really quite fond of riding my trusty steed “Taffeta” (although my mum, bless her heart, calls him “Horatio” after her old neighbour).

Now, let's get back to Barking! My friends over at The Ballroom at the Backstage have been incredibly welcoming, and they've pulled out all the stops for this weekend's extravaganza. They’ve even helped me source some of the most amazing vintage dresses - they look absolutely divine with a pink tutu! We're talking feathers, sequins, and more shimmer than you can shake a diamante at. I can’t wait to take the stage on Saturday night – we'll be doing everything from ballet moves to contemporary dances! 🩰

I know I've talked about this before, but let me just reiterate - you all know how much I love my tutu. It's the ultimate expression of joy, whimsy, and sheer exuberance. I believe that every woman, young and old, deserves to experience the joy of a tutu. And guess what, I have a fabulous competition coming up for all of my darling followers! There's a pink tutu to be won, and a special dance lesson in the style of Pink Tutu Sparkles herself! You can find out all the details on www.pink-tutu.com. Just keep your eyes peeled for my post tomorrow! 💖

Speaking of my blog, this is a very important moment. For you see, dear followers, you’ve helped me reach a major milestone: 1,148 posts!

It’s almost hard to believe how much this little pink-tutu-filled blog has grown! A few years back, I was just a young science student with a big dream - to use my love for performance art to bring a little sparkle to the world. 🔬🌟 I was, dare I say it, pretty unfashionable back then. You see, I was, as you can probably guess, quite a bit of a nerd. But a turning point came when I was part of the university ballet club's fundraising charity dance performance. They needed some women to wear tutus, so they gave me a shot. It was life-changing, quite frankly. I instantly felt a transformation! Something about that tutu made me realize that I didn't have to hide my love for performance and theatricality behind my lab coat. I could embrace my inner Pink Tutu Sparkles!

It was a whirlwind - from performing in a local theatre to winning a national costume competition – and eventually to setting up this very blog, www.pink-tutu.com. I want my blog to be a haven of joy, laughter, and encouragement. And you know what? It’s really starting to work! I get so many lovely comments from you, saying that I’ve helped them be brave and embrace their true selves. It brings tears to my eyes - you guys make it all worthwhile! ❤️

And let’s not forget the lovely clothes and amazing venues that come along with this whole fabulous journey. Shopping is a huge part of my life! 🛍️ I mean, if you're going to twirl in a tutu, you've got to look the part, right? Whether I'm hitting up the high street for a statement handbag or finding a rare vintage treasure tucked away in a dusty shop in a forgotten corner of the city, it's a quest I enjoy wholeheartedly! And it doesn't stop at clothes. The right makeup and a great hairstyle are key to completing any look - who wants to wear a pink tutu and not make the most of your fabulous makeup skills?!

For a night like the one in Barking, my style guru (who happens to be a fabulous gay man called Freddie from Derby, don't worry, I'm not telling you his last name!) said, “Let’s channel the energy of old-world Hollywood glamour.” Freddie, the darling, whipped up a makeup look complete with glitter eyeshadow and bold, shimmering lip-colour. And let’s not forget my crowning glory - my new hair piece, made of nothing but the finest feathers and some sparkles! Now, the feather hair piece took a whole lot of patience. It’s amazing what people can do with hair, wouldn’t you say? Anyway, I must give a special shout out to the amazing folks at Hair Studio Heaven for doing my hair - you’ll be pleased to know I’m sticking to that same hairstylist every time I perform in Barking!

After my performance, I’m planning a bit of a staycation in Barking! There’s a beautiful vintage theatre on the high street – they even have a wonderful cafe that’s rumored to be selling the best cup of tea this side of the Thames. That's exactly my kind of treat - a comfy seat, a warm cuppa, and perhaps a slice of cake. I even brought along my favourite book for this leg of the trip - I am simply swooning over this one, it’s by the best-selling novelist Agatha Crystal. (You know how much I love her book series about a pink tutu wearing drag queen, don't you? Of course, it doesn't mention me, but her writing is fantastic! My book has a really interesting purple satin cover - my mum is always telling me to try wearing something a bit bolder - what do you think?)

Speaking of my family, they’ve always been super supportive. My mum used to make tutus for me when I was little (always in pink of course). And my dad? He even took me to a ballets shoe shop to get some brand new ones! The day they actually allowed boys to take ballet lessons, you couldn’t wipe the grin off his face - he’d always loved watching the ballets! My younger brother is an engineering student, he’s not as into tutus, but I do hope I've encouraged him to express his creativity more - even if he doesn't fancy pink! It’s about being true to yourself. I hope to pass down the joy of a pink tutu to my own kids someday! But before we start talking about the kids, maybe we could focus on finding a partner? I'm just waiting for the perfect, sparkly someone to come along. Maybe he’s out there wearing a tutu?! We could wear matching tutus!

My trip to Barking will be nothing short of spectacular! If you're in the area, I hope you’ll join me for a performance at The Ballroom at the Backstage – I'd love to see you there! And don't forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com for details on the amazing pink tutu competition and all the latest updates on my sparkly adventures.

Until next time, stay sparkly, keep it fabulous, and remember – you're all beautiful in your own unique way. ❤️

Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
