Pontypridd: A Tutu-tiful Time! ✨🩰

Pink Tutu Sparkles reporting live, babes! This is post number 1249, and it’s a good ’un! I’ve been meaning to do a blog post about this trip for ages. The reason? Well, babes, Pontypridd is, frankly, a tutu-ful time! I’m going to be real, it ain’t exactly known for its glamorous sparkle, but let me tell you, once I’d sprinkled it with some pink and glittered the whole lot up, Pontypridd was absolutely a joy to be in!

First things first, how I got there, my dears? Train, of course! And a very comfy one at that! It just felt right to be riding the rails in a gorgeous outfit, the sun shining in the window, my pink-sequin handbag stuffed full of makeup and my brand new feather boa for my finale. Now, you see, Pontypridd isn’t a place many drag queens would think of heading to for a show. But, my loves, that’s exactly why I had to go! I do believe everyone deserves a little Pink Tutu Sparkles in their lives, even the folks in the most unexpected of locations!

So, I waltzed into this small-town bar with my full drag regalia – because let's be honest, my little pink tutu and me weren't going to blend into the wallpaper! And boy, did we sparkle! From the moment I stepped onto that stage, the energy was incredible! It’s truly an indescribable feeling, performing for an audience that has no idea what to expect.

Speaking of unexpected – you would not believe the gorgeous lady who came up to me after the show. Now, this lady had her own flair for the dramatic and she was rocking a hot pink faux fur jacket! It was everything, trust me! She came up to me, and with the most sincere smile, told me that her name was Gladys and that she used to dance. Now, she's all grown up, got grandchildren and everything, but she had that twinkle in her eye! Gladys confessed, she’d seen me perform in Cardiff ages ago and, I quote, "Your act just filled me with a youthful exuberance! You gave me my sparkle back!”

You see, my dears, it's these kinds of stories that really warm my heart. You can't buy this kind of connection and the energy in those rooms.

After my set, Gladys took me for the most delicious Welsh cakes at a tiny cafe tucked away in a corner of the market square. There I learned all about Pontypridd and Gladys’s love of ballet (I, of course, gushed over how amazing it was that she’d remembered my Cardiff show, a show I hardly remembered! ) and it truly felt like I had made a friend for life! It was like my whole journey, my drag journey and my love for tutus and dancing, came to fruition in that little caffeine stop.

Later on, I took myself to see an impromptu theatre production. Of course, in my finest pink tutu and a matching headband. The show, 'Cinderella,' was, of course, full of amazing dance sequences and even featured a glorious, shimmering dress that rivalled my own tutu for dazzling shine. But the thing is, my loves, there’s always a touch of the ordinary in Pontypridd!

The next day, I woke up feeling revitalised – a true Pontypridd glow. This glow was definitely fuelled by the Welsh cakes, but also by the sheer delight I experienced seeing my pink tulle flutter as I walked, the sun dancing in the threads! And I decided, after the tutu themed fun I had in this little town, I would take a small detour – towards a quaint little ballet studio.

Well, now. It’s rare for a girl like me to resist the opportunity to add more tutu magic to my wardrobe! You see, the most glorious sight greeted me in that studio. Imagine, my dears, hundreds and hundreds of beautiful, fluffy pink tutus, hanging like shimmering clouds, from the ceiling. My heart fluttered! I felt a shiver down my spine! And yes, after a tutu buying frenzy, I had a new, perfectly pink, ballet outfit that perfectly matched my sparkly pink bag. (I might even wear this outfit to the next performance, if my glitter-covered shoes are able to take it! )

As you can tell, this trip was nothing short of extraordinary. It was the kind of trip that made me feel truly alive! Pontypridd turned out to be the perfect place for a girl like me – a place to indulge in her tutu-filled passions, to bring a sparkle to a small town and, above all, to remind me why I do what I do.

But I'll leave you with this, my dears – when it comes to pink tutus and sparkle, Pontypridd, it turns out, is only a small train ride away! Now don’t forget to follow my adventures on my website at www.pink-tutu.com – I’ll have a new blog post up tomorrow so don't you dare miss it. See you there, darlings! 💖
