Hello darlings! Your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the fabulous Hammersmith Apollo. It’s been a whirlwind of sequins, sparkles, and tutus since I last wrote. Oh, you think I'm kidding, don't you? This isn't just a job; it's a way of life, and this life is bursting at the seams with the colour pink! I've been busy being fabulous - working my science magic by day, and shimmering and swirling my pink tutu magic by night.
My journey here to Hammersmith was an absolute dream! Let me tell you, there's something magical about travelling by train. Watching the countryside blur past as I sat, carefully perched on my throne of pink velvet, in my own little compartment was simply heavenly. Of course, I was dressed in a fluffy pink tracksuit and my favourite sparkly pink beret, a must-have for any glamorous journey. My fabulous feather boa was slung carelessly around my neck, reminding me that even on the rails, I'm the ultimate queen!
Speaking of queens, you'll be delighted to hear that I've been on a secret mission! Remember all those dreamy pink tutus that I've been showcasing? I've been searching high and low for the absolute most spectacular tutu to add to my collection, and, my darlings, I found it! A genuine, vintage creation with delicate lace and frills so full, you'd think a fluffy cloud had landed on my stage! Let me just tell you, this tutu is pure perfection - it embodies everything that Pink Tutu Sparkles is about - pink, femininity, and utter gorgeousness!
I am absolutely over the moon to be performing in Hammersmith. It's such an iconic venue with a rich history, just begging to be sprinkled with Pink Tutu magic! My act this evening was, to put it lightly, absolutely electrifying. My new vintage tutu twirled like a pink dream, its feathery lightness almost making me take flight! I'm feeling positively inspired – the audience cheered like crazy. Their joy radiated through the whole theatre! It made my heart soar.
Before I continue, I must share a confession: you see, a while back I received an anonymous message from one of my dearest readers – let's call her ‘Tutu-licious’ – who shared a fantastic tip with me! ‘Tutu-licious’ suggested I try my hand at some ‘ballet street’ performance – combining the grace and elegance of ballet with the vivacity and fun of street performance. Now, let me tell you, it's not as easy as it sounds. The delicate art of balance - balancing on my toes and making the tutu dance just so is certainly not easy, but it's an exciting challenge. After spending hours practicing and watching my favourite ballet dancers (from Derbyshire, of course! It is a very strong county for ballet!), I put together a breathtaking street performance to kick-start this ballet-themed month of my life! The performance was an absolute sensation. The street was awash in delighted cheers as I pranced and pirouetted, my tutus swishing to the rhythm of the street! And Tutu-licious? Well, my darling, you just made my dream come true!
So what have I learnt this week? First, pink tutus are a truly magical thing. Second, never be afraid to take a leap of faith! Even a scientist, even a queen, has dreams, and reaching for those dreams is what truly makes life spectacular.
Of course, you all know that I am utterly obsessed with pink tutus, and this love for the frilliest of things started when I was studying my science degree at university! It was at university that I first dared to don a tutu (a charity event – it wasn’t pink then, I must admit), and since then, pink tutus became my favourite accessory. So you see, you can’t imagine my joy when a certain ballet academy, situated smack bang in the middle of the Cotswolds, contacted me about doing a special guest appearance in their annual end of year recital! This meant a little countryside adventure (a truly lovely one with horses pulling a lovely little carriage), and you already know what it means – I put on my best sparkly outfit, complete with my very pink feather boa and, naturally, a stunning pink tutu. I was greeted with cheers and applause and that warm feeling that comes from being surrounded by other tutus and lovely people - absolutely beautiful!
As the recital began, my heart began to race with excitement – oh my darlings, you see I have such an inner passion for dance! Ballet is in my blood. There’s something absolutely enchanting about these graceful dancers - every plié, every chassé, it truly tells a story! When they all joined hands and pirouetted across the stage – in their delicate pink tutus, it gave me chills! The air shimmered with the purest pink magic, and I found myself swaying, tapping my foot, oh, it was almost impossible to contain my own tutu-fied glee! To make my experience even more incredible, I was even invited backstage for an exciting interview! What could I possibly say but "Tutus, of course, Tutus always"! They gave me a signed pamphlet of the academy’s latest show with a stunning picture of one of their prima ballerinas.
Being a science scientist in a laboratory by day and the drag artist Pink Tutu Sparkles by night is hard work! I test fabrics in my lab – you see my expertise doesn’t just stop at sequins – and I love to invent new fabrics! In fact, I have a secret project brewing that you might just see very soon. However, a little sparkle in your day can be just what you need to boost those moods – after a long, hot summer – we’ve all needed it! And where is better for some glamour and magic to truly be let loose than in a drag bar?! Of course! So, naturally, I put together another amazing show for all my adoring fans! I strutted the stage in a shimmery pink bodysuit that reflected all the colors of the rainbow, and my sparkly pink heels clicked to the rhythm of the music. The crowd went wild! There is no better feeling than bringing joy to my lovely audience – and that’s why I truly love performing my act. It's an absolute blast! And don’t worry – I got my favourite, huge pink bow in my hair, of course! And oh, the crowd was buzzing. The night went so fast – and of course – my very pink Tutu magic was definitely making itself known. It was my special way to celebrate all that's glamorous, fun, and unique – just like everyone in this glorious pink-tutu family of mine!
My love of pink tutus, darlings, is spreading far and wide, which I know delights every single one of you. I’m just getting started! And you know, it doesn’t just stop there. Oh no. This passion of mine, it inspires other things – it just has this contagious sparkle – even if I’m wearing a lab coat in my daytime world! Oh, the day I opened the local flower shop, all of you know about the glorious pink-tutu-tastic bouquet of pale pink peonies, with the brightest hot pink roses nestled into the mix. They've truly inspired me, my dears! Every flower was perfect – a reflection of how I felt about being in love with life, with colours, and with that beautiful shade of pink, but in the most perfect feminine way. Every Pink Tutu Sparkle needs a bit of feminine magic – to match those glamorous pink tutus, what could be more perfect than a little delicate floristry!

The most perfect “pink food” for our lovely followers to have fun making at home! But what comes after Paris, my darlings? You see – we’re on our way to Italy! Oh, you all know it's a wonderful place, bursting with color and beauty. And my plans include visiting Florence - its famous galleries - a truly amazing city! My plans are being filled up with everything that a Pink Tutu Sparkles fan might wish for - more pink, of course, but also more glitter, sparkle and maybe some glamorous opera and street theatre in a gorgeous pink tutu. What could possibly go wrong!
