Barrow in Furness - Post #1418

Hello my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the most wonderful town in the world (yes, it’s Barrow in Furness!) after an utterly fabulous journey. Today, my fabulous darlings, we’re talking trains, tutus, and a whole lot of sparkle!

This week’s journey started, as it always does, with a little pink tutu inspiration. I found myself staring at the latest collection from the wonderful "Whimsical Tutus" in Derbyshire, with its exquisite, fluffy, perfectly pink creations. (Seriously, their online store is a pink paradise - definitely worth a peek!). The colour just spoke to my very soul! So, of course, I had to grab a couple of the latest designs – one with feathers, and the other, a shimmering tulle masterpiece (just in case my shimmering sequin one didn't pack quite the wow factor!), along with the essential pink boa and glittery shoe accessories. I adore being a fabulous queen of sparkle and colour - my mantra is always 'pink and fabulous'!

This adventure actually began on a whim – I mean, who could resist the chance to perform for an audience at the Barrow Market? With my trusty makeup kit (packed, as usual, with an absurd amount of shimmering, pink, eye shadow – who doesn’t adore glitter?), I headed off from the station. I have to say, I think this is one of my favorite journeys ever – it truly felt like something straight out of a Grease movie (and the pink tutu helped to solidify this). A trip to a seaside town is definitely a good move for some good vibes!

But the day was far from just a train journey and an outfit change, darling. Once in the wonderful Barrow-in-Furness, I had to embrace the beauty and, of course, had to visit the fabulous "Barrow in Furness Art Deco Cinema.” Just stepping into that stunning place brought back all the glamour and magic of classic movie screenings! Now, a confession: I did have a little sing-along to Singing in the Rain, even if there wasn’t an umbrella in sight (sadly!). It’s just hard for me to resist! The Art Deco detailing and vibrant colors were a feast for my fashion-loving eyes. A must-visit if you are ever here.

A trip to Barrow just wasn’t complete without an exciting visit to “The Dock Museum.” Let’s just say, I wasn't expecting the spectacular exhibits! The museum is truly one-of-a-kind and gave me a fascinating glimpse into Barrow’s naval history and the role it’s played in the industry over the years. Not just that but there was a really nice ‘Barrow – Through Time’ exhibition.

The other wonderful thing I did in Barrow-in-Furness, well apart from a fab shopping trip at the fabulous “Barrow Market”, ( I have to say I found myself with the best vintage-looking shawl in the most vibrant pink – the perfect way to accentuate any tutu, naturally) is taking a little jaunt on the amazing “Barrow in Furness's Promenade." Imagine walking with the ocean wind on your face, a pink tutu swirling around you! Now that is something special!

But every adventure, my darlings, has to end somewhere!

So, with a farewell to this captivating little coastal town, it was time to get on that train for the journey home (complete with my fabulous shawl, just to top it off!) It wasn’t all sunshine and sequins though, as every traveler can attest.

Unfortunately, the train ride home had its challenges! That night, the skies opened up - my, my! It rained! That was definitely a downer – nothing dampens a tutu like a good downpour (don’t ask how I know!). Thankfully, my new boa kept the rain at bay for a little while.

Still, that didn’t stop me from having a terrific time. The little town was enchanting, and I had a brilliant time exploring it – the beautiful parks, the charming, friendly locals…and, of course, those stunning, beautiful vistas overlooking the water, I almost forgot what month it was because it was just so lovely! But the most important thing was the amazing performance at the town square – it was such a delightful moment, filled with excitement, cheering, and of course, lots of pink sparkles! The whole day made me thrilled and, well, happy – if I’m honest. And to think it all began with a simple wish to spread the joy of a pink tutu! It was absolutely, positively, fab!

Now, my darling loves, if you have ever thought about wearing a pink tutu – please, embrace the power! We’re all about celebrating individuality, embracing who we are, and having fun, so what are you waiting for?! Grab a pink tutu – any shape or size will do – and join the fun!

Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s time for a little bit of tutu practice – I’m just brimming with inspiration to make every single day fabulous. Don’t forget to catch my latest show tomorrow in the beautiful seaside town of Margate, my darlings, I will be posting pics for you! ( I might even be doing a giveaway, who knows!), I love you, thank you, and until next time,

Have a great week!

Lots of love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles

A Bit About Me

So, you might be wondering how I ended up a sparkly, tutu-loving, pink-loving drag queen. It’s actually a pretty funny story! Back in university, while studying for a degree in science (yes, really!), I joined the ballet club to add a little bit of colour to my rather serious student life. The club put on an amazing fundraiser for a local hospice, and of course, the key to fundraising is wearing a tutu and some big sparkly hair bows – what else could you do?! It just felt so natural.

I found a pink tutu hidden in the costume store at uni - it was divine. I tried it on - well, to be truthful it was kind of an impulsive, last-minute moment - and BAM! Instant Sparkle. It was the first time I ever truly felt like I could be myself. That day, the seed was planted – and from there, the tutu-obsessed queen you know today bloomed. (You might say I found the “Tutu Goddess” in me! )

How I Do It

Now, you’ve all probably guessed by now, I love shopping! (More specifically, shopping for pink, pink and more pink!). So the life of a tutu queen isn’t all rainbows and tutus - but you know me, a little glitter and colour keeps the whole operation going. My main love, you all know, is wearing the biggest, most sparkly pink tutus ever, and that does need a good amount of funding (I might be pink obsessed, but budgeting for my passions definitely has to happen!).

My days involve all things science, though - working as a textiles analyst in a little laboratory tucked away in the suburbs, and you know, I love that, but it isn’t my main love (but still, what can I say – science can get you a really great tutu or two!). And when I get back to the real world (as a scientist), I turn into Pink Tutu Sparkles and become the Queen of Pink Tutus - and that is just divine. (So basically, sparkle is my daily bread.)

But as a real person – with a passion for all things sparkly and pink – I think we all have that little inner Pink Tutu Queen somewhere waiting to break free. It’s not just about looking fabulous (although, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good, shimmery tutu?!) it’s also about embracing your own special sparkle. It’s about celebrating everything you are, no matter how “out there” it might seem to others. I truly believe, when we embrace ourselves fully and confidently, it creates magic.

My dream is to inspire others to discover the “Tutu Goddess” inside themselves. Maybe one day we can have a massive tutu-wearing flash mob or something like that! Imagine: thousands of people of all shapes and sizes dancing together in a cloud of pink tulle and sparkling feathers. We would totally take over the world, and all I'd say to that is "yes!"!

Until next time my dears, remember to embrace all your beautiful flaws and quirks and, above all, never ever let go of your inner pink tutu!
