Sutton Sparkle: Tutu Travels in Pink! 🎀🩰
Post #1455
Oh darling, Sutton has been such a treat! I've just gotta tell you all about my amazing time in this quaint and charming English town, and as usual, it involved a lot of pink, sparkle, and twirling! 😉 You know me - always looking for that perfect mix of culture, couture, and… well, tutu!
This little adventure began, as it so often does, with a train journey. There's nothing I love more than watching the countryside zip by from a carriage window. I particularly enjoy that quintessential British sound of the train rattling over tracks - so calming!
I even spotted a gaggle of adorable little lambs munching on the grassy banks. You know, just another Tuesday for Pink Tutu Sparkles! 😅
Of course, no trip would be complete without a dazzling new ensemble. I couldn’t resist the gorgeous candy-floss pink cocktail dress with sparkling embellishments I found in a vintage boutique in the centre of Sutton. I simply had to have it! It’s perfect for the grand Christmas Ball at the Sutton Manor House – so chic! I teamed it with a tulle-covered hat with a delicate pink feather and a pair of sparkly Mary Janes. I know, it sounds very princess-y, but hey, why not embrace a little whimsy this festive season?
As a seasoned traveler, I always like to find a local cafe where I can indulge in some afternoon tea, a little treat and a cuppa. This time it was at a charming little cafe in a cobblestone square called 'The Dancing Swan.' How adorable is that? The ambiance was so warm and welcoming - definitely not swanning around here.
Of course, being Pink Tutu Sparkles, I can’t just walk through a town without a bit of sparkle - can I?! So, I stopped for a delightful encounter with a charming florist, who agreed to help me create a magnificent bouquet of bright pink roses and delicate lilies - the perfect touch of femininity. The florist was so sweet, even suggesting a pink bow! They even suggested a local market where they often sell their beautiful roses, it's an early Saturday market, perfect for browsing. The flowers smell incredible - a real fragrant touch to my Sutton adventure.
Now, one thing that always excites me, even more than a delightful cup of tea, is exploring the local culture. This trip to Sutton had an element of a true fairy tale about it. There is a little boutique in the heart of the town, 'The Tutu Emporium'. Oh darling, it was my absolute dream come true. Rows and rows of shimmering tutus, in every colour imaginable, and you guessed it… my favourite shade: pink! And that's just the tutu aisle, with ballerina costumes galore, ballet shoes and accessories as far as the eye can see. I even met a lovely lady in there who showed me the best way to style a tutu! (You simply have to check out their collection, my loves. It's absolutely enchanting!)
Being a queen of dance, the perfect culmination to my Sutton adventures was seeing a magical performance by the ‘Sutton Ballet Theatre’ at the stunning local theatre, ‘The Swan Theatre’. This beautiful, historic building has such an interesting story behind it - they used to use it as a performance hall in Victorian times, it's like a little piece of theatrical history. This ballet was a masterpiece! It told the story of a mischievous pink ballerina (it was a bit like me, in a way!), who was constantly chasing adventure, twirling her way around the town and, of course, inspiring everyone to don a tutu. I was even lucky enough to snag a photograph with one of the dancers afterward! You can check out the theatre's online programmes - there's so much on - I recommend checking out their schedule.
I even had a chance to visit ‘Sutton Park’ for a morning of invigorating exercise. A little spin in the park! Oh darling, what a breath of fresh air - well, maybe too much air on a cold December day! That said, it was perfect for a quick ‘tutu spin’ or two! It felt good to stretch those legs and enjoy the outdoors.
One final indulgence - after an exhausting afternoon of dancing (a very, very exhausting day, I must tell you, darling!), I enjoyed a delectable dinner at The Little Italian at a nearby restaurant with some delicious homemade Italian pasta with a side of vibrant pink gelato - yes, you guessed it, all shades of pink, of course!
As the evening descended on Sutton, I hopped back on the train, leaving behind the enchanting town with a sparkle in my eye and a pep in my step. But the pink tutu adventure was far from over!
Now my dear followers, let’s discuss how Sutton got its name. I love a bit of history when it comes to my travels and this little Sutton nugget is definitely going to come in handy for future pink tutu shenanigans - a good anecdote always brings more sparkles, don’t you think?!
You see, my darling, this Sutton isn’t a modern name - it dates all the way back to Old English times (and it’s probably no surprise to hear that my travels to medieval English towns are definitely on my travel wish list, oh darling!), It came from the name 'Suðtūn' * which simply translates to *‘South Town’. It all makes sense, doesn't it? So romantic, oh darling. And that’s exactly what Sutton is to me! A little town in the south, that just fills my heart with excitement and glee! It was like stepping into a fairytale of pink and tutus.
Remember, darlings, travel, dance, twirl, and never forget to sprinkle your world with a little bit of pink magic!
Until next time!
Love, Pink Tutu Sparkles 🎀🩰
