Dunstable Dazzles: Pink Tutu Sparkles Goes On A Whirlwind Tour!

Hello my darling dears, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It’s your favourite, fabulous, and (dare I say it?) utterly iconic Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to sprinkle some sparkle into your Wednesday morning, because it's Blog Post No. 1461! Today's adventure? Why, Dunstable of course! Now, I know what you're thinking, "Dunstable? Really, Pinky? Isn't that a bit…un-tutu-like?"

Hold your feather boas, lovelies, because Dunstable is just brimming with unexpected charm! This little town has so much heart, and don't even get me started on their selection of tea rooms, oh my!

But enough chit-chat, let's dive into this epic journey of glitz, glamour, and (naturally) a whole lot of pink!

The journey started early this morning, my lovely lambs, as I set off from Derbyshire in my trusty old station wagon (she’s called Betsy and yes, she’s a bit rusty, but a true vintage darling). As I was pulling out of the driveway, the most adorable little lamb wandered onto my path, a little woolly white fluff with the sweetest pink nose imaginable. Well, I had to take a photo, didn't I? You can see the photo in today's post on Pink-Tutu.com, look under "The cutest thing ever".

Of course, no journey is complete without a visit to a vintage clothing store or two, and Dunstable, being a haven of antique shops, didn’t disappoint. You wouldn't believe the vintage hats I found - all the latest styles (from 1950!), and just the right colours to match my collection of tutus, with everything from hot pink to shimmering peach. And let's not forget my trusty travel companion - the teapot hat. Don't worry, it was a limited edition piece I found, specifically for long journeys - very chic for a stylish drag queen, darling!

After the shops, it was time to get the train to Dunstable, my journey from Derbyshire was a picturesque one, complete with rolling hills and friendly farmers in their fields. But when the train arrived at Dunstable, the town had this rather unique energy. I could practically hear the “ding” from “The Darling Buds of May” playing in the background - what can I say, it’s just very charming!

My goal? To put a spotlight on Dunstable and the amazing performers that this small town produces. The people in Dunstable just love the arts, and you could see the joy on their faces. After all, there is nothing quite like a great performance - I get a little sparkle in my eye when I step out on stage!

My evening at the theatre began with a scrumptious dinner at The Lavender Bistro, a little gem tucked away in a quiet street. They had this gorgeous Lavender and Elderflower ice cream with homemade honey-roasted almonds. Delicious, darlings! I couldn't resist, and got an extra scoop! It really set the mood for an exciting night!

Of course, a proper outfit is a must, especially for someone as devoted to her tutus as I am. A gorgeous deep pink, sparkling tutu paired with a sheer pink blouse, adorned with silver embellishments, made me feel absolutely magnificent. It’s a bit tricky carrying the perfect tutu around on a train, especially with all those feather boa straps! But a good-natured conductor helped with my luggage - after all, spreading the message of pink tutu empowerment means helping a girl out, right?

Then it was time for the main event, an amazing, magical show featuring all types of performing arts - a blend of acrobatics, street theatre, dance, and so much more! This was true community theatre, bursting with energy and passion - just the way I like it!

There’s nothing I love more than celebrating local artists - the stars of the show. You wouldn't believe the talent these Dunstable ladies and gents had, it's truly inspiring! They definitely made me want to get on stage! Maybe next year they'll invite Pink Tutu Sparkles to perform at the Dunstable summer festival. Just thinking....

The show was so captivating, so joyful, it reminded me of the sheer magic of performance, a reminder why I'm so obsessed with the world of ballet and dance. My whole being twirled with glee! As they finished the last act, I took a moment, just sat in my plush, theatre seat, and allowed myself to bask in the sheer wonder of it all. This was it - magic on a stage!

After the final applause and bows, the group of actors all came into the audience for photos and chats. I chatted with one amazing dancer in a dazzling blue costume - we agreed that she had the most breathtaking performance! Such talent - so much fun! Her stage name? Indigo Moonbeam. You have to check her out on social media, darling! And I managed to get a photo with the show’s choreographer – you know it’s about finding the most creative people in a crowd and saying "Hi!"

The highlight of the evening though, was a meeting with the show’s director, a wonderful woman named Lily (a name perfectly suited to a stage director - very chic!) She was the heart and soul of the whole show. It was her passion, her commitment, that had brought this enchanting night to life. And honestly, I found myself wanting to give her a big hug for making it all so very, very, spectacular!

Later, as the night came to a close and I wandered through the peaceful, Dunstable streets, my heart was filled with warmth. My night had been about so much more than the performance, or the vintage hats I bought, or the delicious ice cream I devoured - it had been a night about joy. A night about community. And the magic of dance.

That was my fabulous, fabulous adventure in Dunstable! As I make my way back to Derbyshire (you'll see a snap of me with a cute dog on the platform - look for the post under “The Most Adorable Dogs on the Planet”). It's been an experience I will treasure forever!

Now my lovely lambs, I want to leave you with this reminder: let's make the world a more glamorous, more sparkling, more Tutu-licious place!

Wear a pink tutu with pride, my dears! Let's bring the pink tutu magic to every town, every village, and every corner of this world, one fluffy, beautiful tutu at a time!

Until next time my lovelies - stay glam, stay happy, and remember to always… sparkle!

With love and glitter,

Pink Tutu Sparkles x
