Southampton Sparkle: Post 1552

Oh darling, darling, you won't believe the adventure I had in Southampton! It's been a whirl of pink and sequins, all the way from Derbyshire by train (my fave, obvs) to this gorgeous seaside city. As you know, I love a good journey, and this one was no exception!

As soon as the steam engine started chuffing, I popped on my Pink Tutu Sparkles uniform, naturally. A stunning, bubblegum pink tutu, paired with my favourite hot pink sequined bolero and some diamond-encrusted ballet flats, perfect for the train ride. I even whipped up a little performance for the passengers, a mini ballet routine set to 'Pinkalicious', the children in the carriage loved it! (Turns out, it takes more than just pink tutus to get everyone into sequins – but one can try!)

The minute I stepped off the train, the fresh sea air blew right through my tulle, and I knew I was in for a treat! This is, after all, the city where a certain ocean liner made its maiden voyage – can you believe it? So elegant, so grand, so utterly Pink Tutu-esque! And I swear I saw a real life Sailor Moon walk past a coffee shop – I must've missed that one in the London manga store, but let's be real, Sailor Moon vibes are totally the Southampton style!

After a quick stop for tea and scones at a little cafe with pink polka-dot walls (it's not an accident, I tell you! There's a Pink Tutu soul everywhere I go), I found myself at the gorgeous Guildhall. Seriously, darling, a historic masterpiece, and you know me – I always adore history, especially when it’s dressed in elegance like this one. And let me tell you, this is the best backdrop for my Pink Tutu magic!

Oh, and you know how much I adore a good theatre performance? Southampton truly knocked my pink socks off! My friend Poppy suggested I go see "Mamma Mia!" at the Mayflower Theatre, and I was absolutely tickled pink. Dancing in the aisles? Check! Musical numbers about love, loss and happily-ever-afters? You bet! This one really was all about that bass!

But my favourite part? Oh my god, it has to be the grand old ballroom, the ballroom! It's got those huge floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city – seriously stunning, even in a grey February sky. As I practiced some ballet moves across the marble floors, I couldn't help but feel like a ballerina straight out of Swan Lake, a sparkling Pink Tutu princess surrounded by all this Victorian grandeur.

Before you ask, yes, I made the grand old ballroom pink, my darlings! Not literally, of course, although I’m tempted to whip up some glitter cannon fireworks later – perhaps we could arrange a public viewing on the beach? Let me know in the comments if you'd be up for it, a sprinkle of Pink Tutu magic right there by the sea!

Back to the dancefloor, I felt utterly at home in Southampton – so vibrant, so friendly, so... pink! I even managed to rope a local dancer into performing a little "ballet in the streets" number, right in the middle of the high street. Imagine, tutus and sparkles in front of the shoppers, they loved it! Even the old bloke buying his morning paper grinned at us! He did seem a little bewildered at first – it was the morning! – but a smile and a generous sprinkling of Pink Tutu magic (AKA some glitter bombs from my purse) definitely turned his frown upside down!

This one really has been an absolute whirlwind. The memories made in this beautiful city, the friendly faces I met, the breathtaking sights, and of course, the dazzling moments with the other Pink Tutu Queen... I just had to share it all with you! Don’t worry, there's much more to come. Stay tuned, darlings, because tomorrow, it's off to explore even more of this glorious city, and I wouldn't miss it for the world – unless of course, you have any ballet routines or fancy dress ideas I need to incorporate, my dear readers! Just leave them in the comments below! Until next time, may your tutus be pink, and your sparkle be bright!

Lots of love and Pink Tutu magic,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
