Oh, darlings! How are you all? You won't believe what an absolutely divine adventure I've just had! Today's been all about Luton, that lovely little town just a hop, skip, and a jump away from London! I have to admit, darling, I've always held a little soft spot for Luton. You see, when I was a wee little thing – back in Derbyshire – I remember a trip to Luton with my gran to visit a cousin, and we went to a rather fabulous tea shop. Remember, I’ve said this many times: a girl never forgets her first great tea shop experience. This is what made Luton feel like the most welcoming town ever, because every town with a proper tea shop gets a special place in my heart. But anyway! Today’s adventure in Luton is going to be an extra special one - let's go!
Pink Sparkles Rides the Rails to Luton!
I must tell you all, my travel outfit today was absolutely to die for! Think full, blush pink tutu, fluffy pink petticoats for extra oomph and the most dazzling sequined bodice, adorned with… well, of course…sparkles! Just picture a dazzlingly-sparkling, full, blush pink tulle tutu with cascading pink feathers, and a vibrant pink leotard with sparkly gold embroidery. That’s me, darlings! But let me give you a peek into my travelling outfit. Because I don't just look fabulous on stage, I love the drama and whimsy of arriving somewhere with the pinkest of pink ensembles!
Now, some of you know how much I love to travel, but particularly by train. Oh, darling! Train travel, I just love it - the clinking and clanking of carriages, the feeling of motion, and of course the exciting journey itself! Today I had the pleasure of journeying by train - and that in itself is quite an adventure! I have to say, travelling in a big city like London can get a bit hairy. Oh my heavens! I just can't fathom having to do all that squeezing and jostling, so I love that train travel makes everything just a bit more leisurely! I arrived at Luton Station looking totally glamorous, in full drag, with my bag packed full of sparkly outfits. I actually was quite popular! Several people complimented me on my dress and even snapped pictures for their Instagram. (Now if that isn't the epitome of fab, then I don't know what is!)
Luton – A Cultural Gem in the Making!
Now, once I arrived at Luton – in all my sparkly, pink tutu glory, of course! – I realised just what a gem of a town Luton is! From vibrant markets bustling with local charm to the beautifully-renovated theatre – oh darling! The theatre in Luton was gorgeous, even the toilets were pristine! I mean, can you imagine that, darlings? It is almost unheard of for public facilities, even for the theatre to be so beautifully clean! But even better, there’s a little arts festival, showcasing all kinds of performances! The local library was filled with people, oh, and guess what! They had an exhibition of stunning arts, some of which even used real flowers as mediums - just think of the artistry, darling! I really need to see more arts exhibitions with flower designs - they’re such delicate beauty and can truly speak to a soul!
The Heart of Luton – A Feast for the Eyes
We all know that the best thing about going to a new town is exploring the local eats. Luton did not disappoint me! After the amazing library and the festival, my eyes were treated to a feast of wonderful and unique places to eat, a little bit of a different cuisine with every corner I turned!
Well, imagine it! This lovely, local café had some amazing pink tea! It really did just shout "Pink Tutu" to me, the perfect shade of pink with the sweetest flavor that was delicate and rich all at the same time! This was definitely going in my "Favorite Finds in Luton" list. And the most incredible, delectable cake was served with it – think pink icing, sugar sprinkles, delicate flower petal details, a swirl of lavender frosting, and just a little dollop of chocolate on top – now I'm really drooling just remembering it! It really made for the perfect end to a fab afternoon in Luton!
A Show-Stopping Pink Performance!
Then, for the grand finale of my day in Luton – it’s show time! The little performance was just brilliant! Everyone had a good laugh! You see, darling, one of my favorite routines, involves me doing a little pirouette in my bright pink tutu and just twirling until the end of the stage… (and yes, I mean spinning right around until it gets a little bit dizzy!) Oh, darling, if you see me spinning around on stage, well, do come and join in! Now, you may have seen me do this at one of the many markets I have graced. That's the real joy of doing this whole "Pink Tutu Sparkles" thing, you see! Not only do I get to wear these extravagant costumes (I mean, who wouldn't want to wear sparkly, blush pink tutus every day of the week?) but it means that I can bring joy, laughter and maybe just a wee bit of inspiration to folks across the country, right from my trusty stage. And this truly is the best feeling in the world.
Back to the Lab…For Now
So there you have it, darling! Luton – absolutely perfect! You see, travelling isn’t all about whizzing around, it's about appreciating each and every corner of our wonderful country, and Luton has so much charm to offer. Plus, it's simply bursting with colour - perfect for Pink Tutu Sparkles! I even caught the most brilliant sunset! This sunset painted the sky in shades of pinks and oranges - just what I need after a fabulous day! I don't know if you all knew but when I’m not travelling the country, wearing my magnificent tutu’s and dazzling crowds with my drag, I’m busy analysing textiles for new ideas – or in some cases new challenges, like how to get those pesky, sparkling tutus from snagging on test machines. Now that’s a task worthy of my Pink Tutu Sparkles mind! Anyway, darling! That’s my story – until the next post!
