This is post number 1580, can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday I was rocking my first ever pink tutu at a university charity event. Remember that, darlings? Now, I'm prancing around the world, spreading pink tutu joy and glittery glamour wherever I go. And this week, my journey led me to the fabulous capital of Germany.
Berlin, you sassy, sophisticated beauty, you've got me absolutely smitten! From the moment I hopped off the train, I felt a certain electricity in the air, a feeling of history and culture swirling around me. I couldn't wait to explore all your hidden gems, your trendy cafes, your world-renowned museums, and of course, your magnificent dance studios!
The journey itself was an adventure in itself. Imagine: me, Pink Tutu Sparkles, with my fluffy pink suitcase overflowing with tulle and glitter, rocking a stunning magenta dress and a pink tulle scarf, cruising across the countryside in a plush first-class train carriage. It felt like I was in a movie, surrounded by plush velvet seats and windows that offered stunning views of rolling fields and quaint villages.
Arriving in Berlin Hauptbahnhof was like stepping into a dazzling wonderland. The station is a feat of modern architecture, so sleek and stylish! I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures of myself, looking glamorous in my shimmering sequined bolero and my signature pink tutu, which just screams Berlin chic! I think those pics will make amazing Insta content.
Speaking of Berlin chic, the city itself is a vibrant mix of vintage charm and cutting-edge trends. The streets are alive with the sound of laughter, chatter, and the music from street performers. I've already caught myself doing a little impromptu shimmy in the middle of the Friedrichstraße, much to the amusement of passersby.
I’m in Berlin because I have an evening performance lined up at a fantastic venue called the "Schattenspiel", known for its beautiful space and artistic atmosphere. They invited me because of a video I posted online performing “Dancing Queen” on a little park bench by a lake back home in Derbyshire. The video has gone viral, so now everyone seems to want a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance. I'm truly blessed and eternally grateful!
And guess what, my lovelies? I even managed to find the time for some delightful sightseeing! I'm not just a queen of sparkle and tutus, you know. I'm also a massive history buff, a huge fan of architecture, and of course, a dedicated ballet aficionado!
So I embarked on a historical adventure that started at the Brandenburg Gate. Standing in its shadow, feeling the weight of history on my shoulders, I almost felt transported back in time to a time of war and triumph.
Later, I wandered through the beautiful Tiergarten park, the fresh air, lush greenery, and towering trees making me feel so peaceful. I couldn't resist snapping a couple of photos of myself standing by a lovely pond, my pink tutu twirling in the gentle breeze. I am obsessed with capturing my journeys in the form of pictures and I think they'll be perfect for my Instagram feed, along with my "Berlin diary" on Pink Tutu’s blog! My followers adore my little travel adventures, as much as they love my drag performances, the tutus, the glitter, and all the sparkles.
But of course, I had to visit the Berlin Wall Memorial. I felt so much emotion standing at the edge of what was once such a powerful symbol of division and oppression. Now, it is a powerful testament to freedom, peace, and unity. Seeing it made me realise how important it is to celebrate differences and spread love and kindness wherever we go.
Speaking of celebration, Berlin is bursting with music, theatre, and art! One night, I ventured into a beautiful little theatre where I had a truly captivating experience. The performances were amazing, filled with such raw talent and expression. This was such a highlight for me as I'm passionate about both performance and dance, so this was like a double dose of happiness for me.
Now, no trip to Berlin would be complete without indulging in its rich culinary scene! I mean, darling, you can't even imagine how obsessed I am with the food here. I'm practically living on "Kartoffelpuffer," those delightful potato pancakes that are practically bursting with flavour. They are even more delightful with the delicious German sauce I'm sure the restaurant owners made just for me.
Every night, I explore a different neighbourhood, savouring the delights of Berlin's bustling nightlife. The city is pulsating with energy and there’s always something new to discover!
And last but not least, let's talk about my mission: to get the entire world wearing a pink tutu! Here in Berlin, it seems to be working wonders! I’ve even seen a couple of drag queens with a more punk aesthetic, wearing their tutus in bright neon colours, which was quite inspiring. I think the Berliners love the energy of a tutu and embrace this bright and colourful side of fashion, and this really warms my sparkly pink heart.
