Tutu Drag Queen

New York, New York! (Blog Post #1605)

Oh darlings! How's my favourite little tutu-lovers? I'm writing this from the Big Apple itself, New York City, the ultimate destination for a pink tutu-loving queen like myself. And oh, what an adventure it's been!

This is, as you all know, my dream come true - seeing Broadway, the bright lights, the bustling streets... and feeling totally fabulous in my pink tutu! Now, I know what you're thinking: "But darling, won't a pink tutu be out of place in a city as serious as New York?" Well, let me tell you, that couldn't be further from the truth! In fact, I've found that my pink tutu is quite the conversation starter. It seems people love a little bit of sparkle and colour, and it always brightens up their day.

How I Got Here

I arrived in New York in style, of course! Now, some might think that flying is the ultimate way to travel, but I can't tell you how much I love the railway journey. It's like stepping back in time, donning a fabulous outfit and enjoying the scenery as the world whizzes past my window. And for this trip, I had the added bonus of experiencing the glamour of a sleeper carriage - pure luxury, darlings!

Now, a long train journey isn't complete without a proper afternoon tea. I do love me a good scone and jam (I always pack a jar of my grandma's homemade recipe, naturally!). And don't even get me started on the cucumber sandwiches, my dear!

But before I got to New York, I had to travel to a small village nestled in the countryside of Leicestershire, darling. They held their annual 'Tutu-tastic Festival' and invited me to perform. Well, what was a Pink Tutu Queen to do? I practically waltzed on to the stage in a tutu fit for a royal (with the help of a strong gust of wind - never underestimate the power of a strong wind to hold your tutu in place, darlings). The locals loved my show, even the little ones were twirling with me! It really does prove that a pink tutu has the power to unite people.

The City that Never Sleeps (in my tutu!)

Now, I'm in New York and have been to the top of the Empire State Building. Honestly, you could see for miles! But here's the thing: even at 102 stories high, I could see a sprinkle of pink tutu on someone on a bench far below, oh the joys of living in a world full of tutus. And oh, the people I have met here - all so lovely and so happy to see me in my pink tutu! From the kind gentlemen at the Broadway theatre who ushered me in with a big smile, to the little girl in a sparkly dress who wanted to be my best friend, my tutu brought me so much joy.

Speaking of Broadway, oh darling, what a treat! I managed to get tickets for Hamilton. And what an extraordinary experience it was! The singing, the dancing, the incredible story. My only disappointment was that I wasn't in the chorus - my tutu would have looked divine in that spectacular.

Of course, my trip wasn't all about Broadway. I took a stroll through Central Park, sat on a bench by a fountain and enjoyed a glass of pink lemonade - yes, I made sure my drink matched my attire, of course! It's like I’m bringing a little bit of pink sparkle to every place I go! I met so many fun, vibrant, and genuinely interesting people who, let's be honest, were intrigued by the shimmering pink spectacle I call myself.

But one of my favourite things about New York City is how diverse it is. The blend of different cultures, cuisines, and communities is fascinating, and the sheer vibrancy is contagious! And of course, I had to get myself some clothes! A fabulous silk scarf here, some new shoes (you can never have enough shoes) there! Oh darling, it's almost an emergency if my shopping bag is empty when I come out of a shop.

My Next Tutu-Tastic Adventures

You all know how much I love to travel and share my love for pink tutus with the world. So, what's next, you ask? Well, let's just say I have a few exciting trips planned in the next few months.

  • First stop: a visit to the Ballet Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. I’m excited to soak in the culture, maybe even try my luck at a masterclass. Maybe even learn some moves for my next show.

  • Then I’m going on a road trip across the States, all in the name of spreading tutu-mania! You’ll have to watch my blog and find out where!

  • I have an exciting ballet class booked in a fabulous new studio back in my hometown, I cannot wait to move with those elegant tutu clad dancers! I know I'll pick up some new moves. You’ll get an inside look in my next blog post, of course.

As I wind down this blog post, sitting in a bustling cafe watching the city come alive as the sun sets, I know I can’t wait for what adventures my pink tutu and I will find on the way home. You can count on me, darlings, to share every fabulous moment!

I hope I've inspired you to wear a pink tutu or even a pink dress. Let your inner pink sparkle shine! Remember: we can achieve anything we set our minds to, especially when wearing a pink tutu! So, keep believing in the power of pink and the magic of twirling.

Remember, my lovelies, there's always a reason to wear a pink tutu - even if that reason is simply to spread some joy!

With a whole lotta love and pink glitter,

Pink Tutu Sparkles!
