Littlehampton, Sweet Littlehampton! (Post #1666)

Oh my darlings, get ready for a trip down memory lane - I mean, our memory lane, because as you know, your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles lives for reminiscing! It's so wonderful to have a record of all our adventures. And trust me, it's going to take more than a whole blog post to capture this trip. This weekend I’m off to Littlehampton to spread the Tutu love, but for this little jaunt we’re going all the way back to 2004, before my tutu empire truly started its climb to greatness, and, of course, way before you were part of my glamorous posse of fabulous friends!

It's funny how some moments just stick with you, eh? This trip back to the seaside, my little love letter to 2004, starts with me on my university's Ballet Club trip - all the drama, the grace, the fabulousness of it all, rolled into one day trip. You know how much I love the classic beauty of a real ballet, and nothing is better than seeing a company perform in a beautiful theatre! And Littlehampton has that kind of charming, quaint seaside theatre, just perfect for a romantic evening watching a little bit of Swan Lake, and of course, I’m wearing a tutu. Oh darling, do you remember that tutu? The first time I dared to go pink and oh my darling, pink has stuck with me ever since !

This, my dears, was where the whole pink thing really kicked off! I'd actually bought my pink tulle, with my part-time job savings, at a little fabric shop, in Derby, the previous week - all ready for a charity event at Uni. Honestly, the minute I tried it on, I knew. I mean, I knew my heart belonged in Pink, I knew this was the way forward - a drag career in pink. It felt… perfect, even before I did any glam to it, It just felt... right. Oh the stories I could tell you!

It’s like they say: ‘Don’t worry, darling, if you see an opportunity take it!' This day in 2004 was that opportunity for me! As I said, I had chosen the brightest, boldest, prettiest pink, just a little bit of silk tulle, a lot* of tulle - oh, my darlings, so much tulle! - it felt light and delicate and I knew it’d make such a fabulous skirt. It had to have some matching pink ribbon and it had to have lots of ruffles… well that just seemed like an obvious requirement to every dress ever made, right?! And of course it would be so sparkly. Lots of sequins to cover the tulle - lots of tiny glittering pink sequins! * Just *so much pink sequins! And then came my plan, a ‘look' for a drag performance as a birthday present for my friend’s charity birthday ball... **that really got everyone’s attention!

A little bit of make up… oh darling, don't be afraid of glitter… just a little bit, of bold blue eye shadow, to set off my pretty pink, to add to the theatricality, and it all just came together. My ‘look’ that day was…well, just look at me!

That night I won ‘best drag outfit’, naturally, the award made me the happiest. I’m telling you darlings, that first time on stage in that first pink tutu, it changed my life forever. Of course, I already loved to dance… I had been on my school’s dance club since I was ten, and I was on the university club too…I love a performance - all that passion and beauty and creativity! It was just what I needed…it’s so special to ‘make’ something! My very own dress!

Of course, I love making new tutus every time - each one so special! and, my new pink tutu, that's a must for every event. I know I will wear my tutu everywhere!

I took to wearing a tutu everywhere so fast, you know I had to document the whole trip of course - and a beautiful photo in the pink tutu I took on the seashore at Littlehampton! The backdrop is breathtaking - my favourite thing about seaside holidays are those sunset walks by the sea… or that glorious long beach and a huge expanse of blue ocean…. you just get the feeling anything is possible there - just like me!

It’s a wonderful way to connect with the community! And of course, a beautiful dress always helps! Oh, you can see it, that beautiful pinkness! But oh darling, do remember it’s not just about me… this pink thing, it’s a way of life. For me, wearing a pink tutu - I wear a tutu for my dreams, to follow those dreams… that’s the most important part. I can share those dreams, through this beautiful pink, glittering, sparkly, fabulous tutu! Wearing it helps to make a connection - between us - it’s just like magic. *

Remember, darlings, always keep those tutu dreams alive. You too can get everybody to wear a tutu, to make the world a brighter, more beautiful place, and make all those tutudream happen, it's true!

If you are anything like me, then you need a pink tutu! This little one took me to Littlehampton, to Littlehampton where everything began. I took my dreams from that ordinary, quiet, lovely Derbyshire countryside, that's my background, darling, not that other kind of countryside! But you know, the countryside is important! Don't let it be forgotten in the mad rush to be ‘glamorous'. My dreams from the beautiful and quiet countryside, made a trip to Littlehampton, where it all began, a truly pink experience!

So go ahead darling, follow your pink dreams, because it’s all about living it up, making those pink dreams, a real thing, you know, real life Tutu Love, because Pink Tutu Sparkles is the Tutu Queen for everybody ! Oh darling!

Oh darling, we mustn’t forget about our adventures before 2004, it all started there, in Derbyshire. I was that small child at a real ballet school, and even back then, I was always wearing my pink tutu… at my dance lessons. But even I had to grow up!

Well, we’ve come to the end of the post. But let’s never lose sight of how important pink is. I was always meant to wear pink. Oh pink ! I really believe in you and everything it stands for – it makes everyone feel better - happy, positive, beautiful, fabulous – that's just what every girl needs - Pink makes everything more exciting! Don’t you agree? Well, maybe not every man, though some might disagree…Oh, how I love pink! I hope you’re having fun reading my blog darling. See you next time. Lots of love!
