Leith, A Pink Tutu Paradise! (Post #1689)

Darling readers, grab your teacups and your sparkly pink tiaras! Your favourite tutu-clad queen is back with another blog post, bursting with adventures from the charming city of Leith. This fabulous, fab-u-lous, and undeniably pink-tastic journey started, as always, with a whistle-stop train ride!

Now, you know how much I love travelling by train. There's just something about the gentle sway of the carriage and the endless, unfolding landscapes that brings out the artistic flair in me. I even used my time on the train to do some preliminary sketches for a new dance number - a flamboyant tutu-fest with a touch of Highland Fling, naturally. Oh, I’m so excited to tell you more about that, but let's not get ahead of ourselves!

I've got to tell you, the sights of Leith were simply breathtaking! This charming corner of Edinburgh has such a vibrant energy, a beautiful blend of old-world charm and contemporary life. The historic harbour with its magnificent Victorian buildings whispered stories of its glorious maritime past. You can literally feel the history oozing from the cobbles!

Speaking of historical tales, what could be more fitting for a pink-tutu clad queen than a visit to the famous Salt Horse? This iconic Leith bar has a long and illustrious history, and its atmosphere is as legendary as the stories told within its walls. And let me tell you, darling, this queen was in for a royal treat!

There were more pink drinks than you could shake a tutu at! A blush-coloured cocktail called the "Pink Pony" that was simply divine! My fellow patrons seemed as delighted as I was by this burst of pink in a sea of green and blue hues. (But of course, I kept my fuchsia lipstick on - never to be outdone by the competition!)

Later on, the evening became a whirlwind of dazzling entertainment! I must confess, I couldn't help but do a little shimmy and shake on the dance floor, showing the Leith locals how a pink tutu knows how to groove! My tutu caught the light and sparkled like a disco ball, the rhythm pulsated through me, and everyone was smiling!

The following day, I couldn't resist taking a trip to the Scottish Storytelling Centre. What a fantastic place! I fell in love with the immersive exhibition, where tales from different cultures were woven into a truly magical tapestry. I felt the stories come alive through their multimedia displays, which reminded me of a beautifully staged theatrical performance. You see, darling, storytelling is very important to me - it’s how I express my own drag persona!

Now, I’ve been bursting to tell you about the best part of my trip: The Edinburgh Ballet School. You see, I simply adore all things ballet. I started out studying it as part of the University Ballet Club back in Derbyshire and that’s where my obsession with tutus began! A tutu for charity! They knew how to make a girl feel special!

So, imagine my delight when I had the opportunity to watch a class in progress at the Edinburgh Ballet School. These graceful young dancers moved with such fluidity and grace. It was an absolute joy to see them practicing their leaps and twirls, and I almost wanted to jump on stage myself! However, darling, you can't have too many tutu-clad queens on the stage - a fact that’s been impressed upon me at numerous dance performances!

While I enjoyed the elegance of traditional ballet, I also felt a twinge of excitement at the prospect of creating a ballet piece for Pink Tutu Sparkles - my alter-ego and this magnificent blog! Maybe a story about a Derbyshire drag queen on a mission to make the whole world love pink tutus? Now there’s an idea that’s absolutely full of sparkle and flair. It’s the perfect story for my next performance, with my gorgeous pink tutu on display, of course!

Oh, dear readers, I must confess that Leith, for all its elegance, has also become the inspiration for my latest dress design. I saw a stunning shop window showcasing bold tartan fabric, a deep red with contrasting threads of electric blue, with intricate embroidery detailing, and it instantly reminded me of the intricate patterns of a traditional tutu. My inner artist instantly saw the potential!

My head is brimming with plans for my next creative venture! Imagine, a tutu fashioned from tartans with accents of shimmering pink sequins and a train of lace as delicate as the finest Edinburgh cashmere. I have to make a note for later - but first, I have another important decision to make!

As my adventures in Leith come to an end, I find myself facing a momentous decision - should I leave by train, a means of travel I greatly adore, or take to the roads in my newly refurbished vintage van? The prospect of driving through the picturesque Scottish countryside, with its winding roads and stunning views, is utterly exhilarating! But the convenience of a train journey, where I can work on my new pink tutu ideas, can't be overlooked.

Decisions, decisions! The hardest thing for a pink-tutu loving, fun-loving queen is knowing which direction to head in when faced with so much sparkling choice. Of course, I will keep you all posted. This is Pink Tutu Sparkles and you know it will all turn out fabulous, so why not keep following my adventures at www.pink-tutu.com, and stay sparkly!
