Hitchin: A Pink Tutu Paradise! (Blog Post #1750)

Hello, darlings! Your favourite pink-tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, is back with another thrilling tale from the road! This time, I'm bringing you the delightful adventures of a trip to Hitchin, a charming little town in Hertfordshire. It was a truly magical adventure, full of sparkling laughter, fluffy tutus, and more pink than you could shake a feather boa at!

Now, let me tell you, the journey itself was a whimsical affair. You see, darlings, I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to travelling. It's not all about planes, trains and automobiles for me, oh no! I love nothing more than embarking on a journey by train, immersing myself in the scenic beauty of the countryside, or hopping on a trusty steed. In this case, it was a scenic train ride, with windows that offered picturesque views of rolling green fields and quaint English villages.

As I alighted at the Hitchin train station, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of excitement! There was just something about the air, you see. It felt…magical! Like the universe itself was whispering secrets to my shimmering pink tutu. The station itself was a beautiful example of classic English architecture, with red brick and a touch of Victorian charm.

But the true allure of Hitchin, darlings, was waiting just around the corner. Hitchin is a veritable wonderland of independent shops, charming cafes, and hidden treasures just waiting to be discovered. It’s the kind of town that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a postcard.

And let me tell you, darlings, I indulged in a spot of retail therapy at every single shop I could find! I just couldn’t resist the delightful temptations of brightly coloured scarves, whimsical trinkets, and, of course, those absolutely divine, sparkly shoes. (I mean, a girl can never have too many pairs of sparkling shoes, right?) I managed to snaffle a delightful pair of coral pink flats that will perfectly compliment my new coral pink feather boa – my newest acquisition from the ever-fabulous "Glitter & Glitz" boutique. It seems I couldn’t resist, after all, and bought more than a pair of shoes. That little shop has some stunning tutus too! But let’s face it, I simply cannot fit all my tutus in my suitcase and my closet is simply bursting!

Now, darlings, what is a Pink Tutu Sparkles trip without some cultural immersion? The very next day, I ventured into the heart of Hitchin, ready to take on the cultural scene. My first stop was a beautiful theatre where a ballet performance was in full swing. I always get such a thrill from seeing other dancers gracefully move through the air! There is nothing more captivating than a tutu twirling across the stage! They're just so elegant, so…feminine. Oh, the pure joy I experience watching others pirouette and plie is beyond description!

Following this magnificent ballet, I hopped over to Hitchin's historic Priory. The ancient walls whispered stories of times past, transporting me back to a bygone era. The tranquil gardens were a symphony of vibrant colours and aromatic scents, offering a welcome reprieve from the bustling town. You can't find a place with a more charming mix of history and beauty!

Of course, no trip to Hitchin would be complete without a trip to the historic Market Place, bustling with life and full of charming vendors selling everything from handcrafted jewellery to delicious pastries. You really could get lost in there and discover a hidden gem or two. I actually came across a brilliant little stall that sold vintage hats, each one more fabulous than the last. I snagged a gorgeous crimson felt hat with a delicate feather trim that's just begging for a spot in my latest drag ensemble!

Later that day, I finally discovered the perfect little café nestled between two quaint shops, where I had the most exquisite cup of tea (Earl Grey, of course, darlings! It's my favourite!). And guess what? I even stumbled upon a little boutique filled with vintage clothing and accessories – heaven!

Of course, my time in Hitchin wouldn't be complete without a performance, now would it? This time, my act was in the most wonderfully eclectic pub I'd ever encountered. It had a stage, but that's not unusual, but what made it unusual was a large open-plan space with a whole array of activities for kids, and adults too – it had mini-golf, a pool table, darts and table football as well as a bar. A real mix and match crowd all loved to watch my show – the whole place vibrated with energy!

So there you have it, darlings! A whirlwind journey through the charming town of Hitchin, filled with dazzling delights, pink tutus galore, and enough glitter to blind a paparazzi photographer. I hope you've enjoyed my story and that it's inspired you to add Hitchin to your own travel bucket list. And remember, always strive to wear a pink tutu with pride!

Until next time, stay sparkling!

Love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
