Bournemouth Bound: Tutu Adventures on the South Coast!

Hello, my darling dears! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back for another daily dose of pink-tastic adventures! You know how much I love travelling, and this week, it was off to the gorgeous seaside town of Bournemouth. My 1831st blog post (don't you just love those big round numbers?), dedicated to all you beautiful tutu-loving souls out there! 💖

As a quick recap for any newcomers, I'm Pink Tutu Sparkles, and in the day-to-day, I'm a simple scientist Alex, based in lovely Derbyshire. Yes, I work in a lab testing fabric! You might think that's a far cry from a glittering stage, but trust me, a scientist’s got to be precise and experimental, much like a true drag queen. And I just love a good sequined challenge!

But before we go on about the trip, let's chat about my travel style, shall we? Because let’s face it, darling, everything is about the journey! I'm a firm believer in making a grand entrance wherever I go. Whether I'm whizzing through the country on a train, feeling like a princess in a fairytale, or even taking a majestic horse-drawn carriage to a quaint seaside village, it's all about glamour and style, naturally!

Now, back to Bournemouth. Oh darling, the South Coast of England has stolen my heart! The beaches are simply divine! I know what you're thinking - tutus and the beach? Well, honey, that's where you’re wrong! You’ve just gotta pair your tulle masterpiece with some trusty (and totally chic) boots! Plus, what could be more whimsical than catching a wave in a twirling pink dream? 🧜‍♀️

This trip, however, was less about the sand and more about the stage! My favourite part of the trip was without a doubt performing at the iconic Pavilion Theatre! It’s one of those historic venues with so much charm, a true jewel of Bournemouth. I got to spend the day meeting other artists backstage - some were such lovely drag queens with such fierce talent! They gave me some incredible makeup tips, too! My darling, those ladies were a whirlwind of inspiration!

But of course, no visit to Bournemouth would be complete without some serious tutu shopping. And my dears, oh the tutus! I had to try on everything! We’re talking tutus galore! A shop overflowing with all shades of pink imaginable. It was a sartorial paradise. The only trouble was that my suitcase wasn’t big enough for everything! 😩

This trip, darling, really reinforced the magic of being a drag artist. You see, the way I see it, drag is so much more than just makeup and a costume. It's a feeling, an expression, a celebration of self. And performing in such a beautiful place as Bournemouth, it really made me think about how we all, yes even those of us who haven't worn a tutu, can unleash a little sparkle within us.

Maybe try it out, darlings! Maybe just for a day. Dress up in your most fabulous frock, pop on your most outlandish heels (those chunky boots of mine do a fabulous job too!), and sashay through your own neighbourhood! It’s amazing what a little pink tulle can do for your mood! 💕

But that's not all! Bournemouth offered so many more highlights - the beautiful parkland surrounding the town, the charming cobblestone streets, the beautiful historic buildings. Honestly, I can't recommend the town highly enough! It was pure escapism and fun.

Of course, all this exploration comes with the added joy of my weekly dose of ballet. As a lover of the beautiful art of ballet, a trip to Bournemouth wasn't complete without an evening at the Bournemouth Ballet Theatre!

Now, you all know how much I adore ballet. The movement, the grace, the storytelling. Honestly, watching the ballerinas twirling around in their magnificent tutus is pure inspiration! It’s an art form that takes a lot of discipline, dedication and beauty. It's not all sparkles and sequins, honey, that’s for sure! So to all you gorgeous tutu lovers out there - even if you can't pirouette perfectly like the ballerinas, embrace your inner dance, find your own kind of graceful movement, and be the pink-tastic dream you were born to be. 🩰💖

Right, darlings, I must fly (or perhaps sashay? Whatever you fancy!) It's been a delight catching up with you all. Don’t forget to visit my website for more photos, backstage chats, and updates! I'll see you all next time for another sparkly adventure.

Lots of love,

Your Pink Tutu Sparkles 💖
