Hastings: Tutu Dreams and Seaside Charms (Blog Post #1868)

Darling readers! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here! My sparkly hooves are tapping excitedly because I’m fresh off the train, ready to share my adventures from Hastings. Oh, this town was an absolute delight, brimming with the quaintest seaside charm and enough wind to ruffle a whole gaggle of tutus!

Now, as a Tutu Queen, I live by a strictly enforced rule: you can’t get enough of travelling by train. The rhythmic clickety-clack, the gentle sway of the carriage…it’s a real tutu-wearing gal’s sanctuary! This time, I snagged a window seat with the most breathtaking view. It was like stepping into a watercolour painting, all rolling green hills and charming little villages. And what's a travelling queen to do while enthralled by the passing scenery? Why, a quick glance in my mirror for a touch of lipgloss, of course! (Because, as any true tutu-phile knows, a queen’s look is never complete without a dash of sparkle, right?)

Speaking of sparkle, Hastings itself had a charm all its own! From the cobblestone streets and historic houses to the iconic pier that stretched out to sea like a giant pink candy floss, it felt like a fairytale come to life!

Now, when I'm on the road, you know I'm on a quest, darling! My life’s work, after all, is to convince the whole world that a pink tutu can transform any occasion into a spectacular affair! I’m a bit of a proselytiser in that way, spreading the joy and wonder of the tutu, one sparkling layer of tulle at a time. So, I waltzed down Hastings' historic high street, my pink tutu swirling like a flamenco dancer's skirt, and guess what? I made an impact!

People stopped me in the street, grinning from ear to ear like they’d seen a unicorn parade. Kids shrieked with glee (in the most endearing way possible) while the elders had a touch of awe in their eyes. Even a few men had a gleam in their gaze, a twinkle of “Ooh la la!” behind those masculine expressions. (I bet a few of those guys would be wearing pink tutus in a heartbeat if they’d dared, don’t you think?).

There’s this beautiful little boutique in Hastings I just had to visit, “A Tisket A Tasket,” with a charming owner named Daisy. She totally gets the Tutu Queen spirit! Daisy's boutique was overflowing with treasures! We’re talking hats, gloves, brooches, shoes…it was every fashionista's dream. It wasn’t all rainbows and sparkle though, it had this delightful vintage vibe too, with the kind of timeless elegance I just adore! I snagged the most divine lace bolero for my upcoming performance in Brighton - it'll go perfectly with a pink tutu, naturally.

My evening was dedicated to spreading tutu joy and performing my heart out at the most fabulous seaside hotel. (It’s a secret but I even added a touch of pink tulle to their balcony railings – I couldn’t resist). The staff were as chilled out as the sea breeze. It really set the mood!

Before you think I was performing on stage, darling, I’d be lying. Well, maybe not. (See, even a tutu-queen can have a few little white lies. Let's just say the hotel bar became my stage and a nearby guitarist found a little extra inspiration!). It’s a little-known fact that even a Queen needs to stay grounded!

Now, I love me some glitz and glam, don’t get me wrong, but every so often, you know what a girl like me really wants? Ballet! So, the following morning I was on a train (again!) headed to a ballet school in a nearby town. They were offering drop-in classes and I couldn't pass up the chance to stretch my limbs, improve my form, and bask in the grace of dance! (In my case, a bit of sparkle was always in order. Let’s be real!)

Being back on the stage, even in a practice setting, just makes me feel alive, don’t you agree? And if I can’t quite make it to the Bolshoi or the Royal Ballet in Covent Garden (yet!), these little local gems are like treasure chests waiting to be uncovered. Oh, and I had to try on their tutus, it’s almost like a sacred ritual. And they're definitely inspired my next dress design – watch this space!

From the ballet studio, it was a short hop to the beach for a spot of vitamin sea, where I stopped by the pier to snap a few pictures. (In my tutu, of course!) It just screamed “Queen’s Day Out,” don't you think? And let me tell you, that seashore air is a truly delightful way to finish a trip. Even better, I spotted the most adorable shop window displaying seaside-themed tutus – it was like a whole world of pink fluffy dreams! Of course, I had to treat myself.

You know me well, dear readers. A tutu queen has to keep up with her sparkle supply.

As the sun began its graceful descent and painted the sky in vibrant hues of orange and pink, I boarded the train for home, feeling thoroughly contented, full of ideas for my next performance.

Oh, Hastings, you've charmed your way into my tutu-clad heart. You are the perfect reminder that even a simple trip to the seaside can be a memorable, pink-hued, tutu-filled adventure. And to all of you, I say it again! Pink is the colour, the tutu is the style, and the world is our stage!

I’m already planning my next adventure - and yes, a train ride is on the itinerary! Until then, keep sparkling and tutu dreaming!
