Paisley Calling! A Tutu-tastic Adventure (Post #1885)

Oh darling, how divine! Another day, another city, and a new fabulous pink tutu adventure! As you all know, my name is Pink Tutu Sparkles, but you can just call me Sparkles. By day, I’m a bit of a lab rat, a science whizz kid (ahem, my friends call me a geek… it’s okay, I get the irony!) and I test fabrics to see if they are fit for, well, pretty much anything. By night, I’m the sparkly, flamboyant drag queen you’ve come to know and, quite frankly, adore!

Now, my dear readers, you won’t believe the journey I've been on to reach Paisley. Honestly, it was such a divine journey, a whirlwind of colour and sparkle. My travels began with a grand trip to Derby station. All glammed up in a sassy pink frock with a matching feather boa, I drew some rather curious glances from fellow commuters. Who could blame them? This was not your typical Monday morning train trip, darlings.

I opted for a carriage that would afford me a perfect view of the changing countryside. It truly was like something out of a ballet! Rolling hills, fields of green and a scattering of quaint, cobbled villages – the ultimate ballet backdrop, I assure you. But oh, the people! Now, let's not go there...the fashion choices in my carriage were certainly less elegant. I do so miss the days of my favourite, luxurious trips on horseback! But let's face it, a little horsepower isn’t practical when you’ve got a fabulous fuchsia bag crammed full of all your glam essentials, not to mention a six foot pink tulle tutu! (And no, dearie, I wasn’t sharing that. Even the lovely, elderly gentleman next to me understood!)

I know what you’re thinking: How does a scientist become a travelling drag queen? Oh, the stories I could tell! Let’s just say a chance meeting with a stunning silver, sparkly tutu at the uni’s annual charity fundraiser really got me hooked on this magical world. You can call me a tutu junkie - I just can’t get enough! And why should I? After all, they’re the ultimate statement. They’re pretty, graceful, and above all else, they radiate joy!

I truly believe the world would be a better, brighter, more fabulous place if everyone, from the smallest tot to the biggest grandparent, wore a pink tutu. (Maybe just a little more carefully crafted, darling. There’s a world of difference between a beginner's tutu and a showstopper!) And to see so many happy faces at each performance - you can't deny the magical power of a tutu. Why else would I fund all these adventures? It’s worth every penny to bring a little sparkle and whimsy to your day!

So, where to start in Paisley? Now, the answer was as plain as day: a delightful, quaint tea shop called “Tweedle Dee” (the name just made me giggle!) It was, as you might imagine, a picture-perfect haven of homemade cakes and fluffy scones, adorned with vintage floral wallpaper and lace doilies. What’s more, their signature “Pink Tutu” cupcake with pink frosting and edible pearl sprinkles made for the sweetest ending to my journey. (Just imagine how the sprinkles made my pink glitter eyes sparkle – pure heaven!)

The real reason I came to Paisley? Well, a beautiful theatre, darling! You can’t pass up a chance to perform in front of a real live audience, even if I have to carry a whole costume trunk filled with glittery outfits, feathery boas and, naturally, that all-important pink tulle tutu. I'll be back tomorrow for another grand adventure. So much to see and do, and just so much fabulousness! And the real highlight of my day was seeing a little girl (maybe five or six years old, no older) dressed head-to-toe in pink, her face lit with awe and wonder, a pink tutu flowing out around her. You see, darling, sometimes even a grumpy scientist can change the world… one sparkly, pink tutu at a time!

Love always,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xxoo
