Oh, my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and I’m absolutely buzzing with excitement because I’m about to embark on a little adventure! 🚂💖 I’ve packed my sparkly suitcases, a new shade of pink lipstick (because, honestly, a girl can never have enough!) and of course, my pièce de résistance – a brand new, full-length tulle tutu, absolutely dripping in iridescent sequins! It's a masterpiece!
Braintree is calling, and this fabulous queen is ready to answer. This charming town in Essex is known for its quaint shops, delightful cafes, and (most importantly for me), a brilliant ballet theatre. Yes, you heard that right, darlings – ballet! Ballet is practically my other religion. 🩰
My travels are often fueled by the siren call of a good old fashioned ballet performance. A couple of weeks ago, I found a poster advertising "Swan Lake" with the most stunning photography, and of course, it was playing at the Braintree Theatre. Well, let's just say it's practically a crime to be within 100 miles of a ballet and not be in attendance, isn't it? So, my pink-tinted compass was firmly pointing to Braintree, and before I knew it, I was booking train tickets. 🚄
Speaking of trains, I must say there’s just something so glamorous about them. I think it’s the old-school elegance, and how the carriages seem to just whisk you away to another world. 🚄 But it’s more than just the mode of transportation. It's also about the journey, the opportunity to sit back and take in the landscape, soak up the sun, and enjoy a cup of tea from a vintage china mug (although, I confess I do bring my own matching pink cup with "Pink Tutu Sparkles" embossed on the side - squee!) 🫖
While I’m certainly a champion of public transport, a good ol' fashioned horseback ride certainly has its allure. You can’t beat that feeling of freedom, of the wind in your hair and the gentle rhythm of the horse’s gait beneath you. It’s truly an enchanting experience, and one I'm quite partial to when exploring the English countryside. (Maybe I should look into purchasing a sparkly pink horse… just imagine, darlings, a vision of equestrian elegance, decked out in my own fashion!) 🐎
This trip is going to be packed with fabulous fun. Besides attending the ballet, I’ve already lined up a fantastic outfit shopping trip, where I’ll be looking for the perfect new pair of sparkly ballet pumps (that go wonderfully well with any pink tutu, by the way!) 👠 And naturally, I have my own performance lined up at a local charity fair. You see, darlings, Pink Tutu Sparkles wouldn't be who she is if she wasn’t constantly finding ways to spread the message of love, joy, and sparkle, one pink tutu at a time! ✨

That’s what makes it so wonderful, you see, because while I do have my own "by day" job, I’m just an ordinary girl, a Derbyshire girl at heart, who loves all things glittery, twirly and fabulous. My daytime self – Alex – might spend her hours in a laboratory, testing fabric for new technologies. But once those fluorescent lights go out and the sun dips below the horizon, Pink Tutu Sparkles takes centre stage! I can’t say I wouldn’t trade the lab coat for sequins any day, to be honest! 🔬
My journey started long ago, in my university days. As part of the ballet club, I decided to give a charity performance in a borrowed pink tutu. Oh, the thrill! I realised then and there that this was more than just a fancy costume – it was a vehicle for joy, expression and empowerment. The tutu unleashed my inner confidence, allowing me to show the world that it’s okay to be bold, daring, and fabulous! And well, my darlings, the rest is, as they say, history. ✨
