Castleford Calling: Pink Tutu Sparkles Hits the Stage!

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-loving drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and welcome to Post Number 1962! (I know, I know - weā€™re getting right up there, and Iā€™m loving every minute of it! I honestly canā€™t believe how quickly time has flown by - sometimes it feels like yesterday I was just a scrawny, nerdy little science studentā€¦ but I'm getting ahead of myself).

Anyway, let me tell you, Castleford is a lovely place! This is one of those beautiful old market towns with stunning historic buildings - I felt a little bit like I was stepping straight out of one of my favourite historical novels!

This journey all started with my trusty steed - I simply had to travel in style for this one! The train from Derbyshire to Castleford took just over two hours, and the carriage was beautifully comfy. As the countryside sped past the window, I made sure my lovely pink hair scarf (and matching sparkly sunglasses!) were at perfect angle for all those Insta-worthy pics. (Don't worry, I've already posted them to my feed!) I had so much time on the train, I even had a chance to sketch out some new designs for my wardrobe. You've gotta love the time you get to relax, unwind, and be inspired!

My performance was at The Castle Theatre, a real jewel of a venue! Oh, it was truly the perfect space for my dazzling set! It had a stunning old-school charm, with these beautiful velvet drapes and stained glass windows, that were just begging for a touch of pink-tutu magic! It truly made my pink-tutu-inspired choreography even more flamboyant! The atmosphere was fantastic! The whole place was full of energy and buzzing with anticipation - it felt like the audience had already been preparing to unleash their inner twirl and dazzle for my set. The excitement was palpable. It was a true pleasure!

I started off the night with my own special mix of Strictly meets The Royal Ballet routine, which, of course, had me gliding around the stage in my iconic pink tulle, complete with a sprinkle of glittering diamonds, as only a pink tutu queen could! The entire audience went wild with applause! I had everyone twirling in their seats by the end. And, you know, that's the main thing - isn't it? - making people happy and sharing that love of the magic of dance and theatre!

Later, I did a Q&A session where everyone was so engaging and asked brilliant questions about my life as a pink-tutu-wearing drag artist! So lovely! It was all about making dreams come true, finding joy in life, and just getting lost in the music and dance.

After the performance, the whole crew gathered for a much-deserved celebratory pint at the Castleford Tavern, just around the corner from the theatre! (You know me, gotta find a good local!). Oh, it was delightful! A charming little spot with all the charm you could want, plus a great local ale and delicious platter of snacks to share. What better way to finish an amazing evening of dance? (I always recommend asking for extra napkins when itā€™s the cheese and onion crisps youā€™re going forā€¦trust me!).

Speaking of local ales, Castleford actually has quite the lovely selection of craft breweries that make amazing microbrews. The beers are really quite the treat! A little taste of real British hospitality.

I stayed at this beautiful Victorian B&B right near the heart of town called the Victoria Rose. It had the most charming decor with delicate lace curtains and stunning flowers! It truly felt like I was stepping back in time, and it matched my whole ā€œpink tutuā€ vibe perfectly! You just gotta have a touch of vintage in your life. The Victorian Era has such amazing styling with its exquisite textures and the opulent tones, such as plum and mauve, paired with metallic accents. It was so delightful! It really helped me channel my inner Strictly pro!

Castleford definitely holds a special place in my heart! I discovered so many amazing independent shops - I swear, they even had a store dedicated to nothing but vintage haberdashery and ribbons, so exciting! Oh my god! Imagine all the sparkle you could use on your own pink tutus! If only I couldā€™ve brought everything back!

I even found the cutest little bakery called The Whipped Dream. I couldnā€™t resist getting their ā€œpink sprinkle cupcakesā€. They really brought the whole ā€œPink Tutuā€ concept to life! Sweet, delicious, and totally Instagrammable! What more could you ask for?! It was like the sprinkles on my cupcake (of life)!

After my delightful break from dancing, I returned back to Derbyshire, filled with new inspiration! Oh my, it truly gave me some fantastic ideas for my future dance routines. And to you dear reader, may I just remind you to be you - the fabulous, sparkle-filled, pink-tutu-wearing you.

That's it for now!

Stay pink, and may your tutus be always dazzling!
