Merthyr Tydfil, Here I Come! - Pink Tutu Sparkles Blog Post #1966

Hello, darlings! It’s your favourite pink-loving, tutu-tastic queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and I'm sooo excited to tell you all about my latest adventure to the magical Merthyr Tydfil! It's time to gather 'round, grab a cuppa, and get ready for a pinktastic journey filled with fabulous fashion, inspiring performances, and of course, tutus galore!

Let’s be honest, folks, when I heard I'd be travelling to Merthyr Tydfil, my inner voice squealed with excitement! Merthyr is a place of rich history, beautiful scenery, and even more importantly… it's on my road to spreading the pink tutu gospel! I've always been fascinated by the beauty and history of Wales, so the opportunity to bring a bit of pink sparkly magic to this region felt… perfect.

I set off bright and early on Tuesday morning, a pink and silver glitter bomb on wheels. Let's face it, my pink travel case with its signature tutu motif is definitely not low-key! My mode of transport? Why, a train of course! The click-clack-clack of the wheels is music to my ears and let’s be honest, I simply adore those plush velvet seats and big picture windows for a good view of the passing countryside.

And oh, my loves! The journey was a real feast for the senses. As the train journey went on, I couldn’t help but marvel at the fields filled with vibrant spring blooms – nature’s way of saying “welcome!” - and of course, I whipped out my phone for a quick outfit change, making sure the light catching on my sequins matched the pinkness of the roses. (Just a small detail for a drag queen, you know!)

Upon my arrival, I checked into a beautiful little B&B - let’s just say they knew I was coming, for the rooms were decorated in pink hues! (I must’ve requested it with my booking, I have a very vivid imagination!). I had to take some selfies, naturally - imagine how it would look without a picture for the Insta feed! I'm all about finding the pinkest of places in every destination, it's my personal challenge, y'know?

Speaking of Instagram, my followers were delighted when I posted my outfit on my story - they adored the custom designed, custom pink sequin jumpsuit, (the sparkly ones are the best! Don't be shy - send me a direct message if you need a sparkly tailor for yourself), and it just went so beautifully with my classic pink and white spotted tutu! I don't know how, but that little touch of white adds such a touch of grace! They commented so kindly about my new, longer ponytail too! So fabulous, wasn't it? I wanted something truly dramatic.

Anyway, that evening was my big show in a fabulous old theatre that had an amazing history - the locals told me it was built on the site of a historic iron works! It was the perfect stage to spread some pink-tastic magic! The crowd went wild - let’s just say there were many excited shouts of “You look stunning, queen!” and they were quite enthusiastic about my signature twirling routines (who doesn’t love a good tutu-filled spin?!). I love how people are embracing their inner twirl.

After the performance, I spent some time chatting with the audience, snapping selfies, and making new friends! The energy was so infectious - and yes, some audience members even tried on my tutu! My motto is, if you can see me, you can be me - tutus are a universal symbol of joy and empowerment!

The following day, I made time to explore the beautiful local streets and parks - even though it’s a town, Merthyr is really well known for its beautiful mountain scenery - a nice juxtaposition to the industrial heritage that also runs through the place. The parks had beautiful wildflowers and gardens, which I thought added another beautiful dimension to the pink of my outfit. You wouldn’t believe the snaps I got there!

One thing that always blows me away when I’m touring is the sheer beauty and friendliness of the people I meet along the way. I struck up a lovely conversation with a couple having their lunch, who, like me, were also fascinated by the colourful wildflowers - the little girl with them kept looking at my shoes and was very excited by my big pink glitter eyelashes. This kind of magic is truly the reason I keep traveling around.

Of course, I had to stop at the local bakery for a slice of Victoria sponge and a strong cup of tea - because how can one resist that absolute British classic? It just screamed to be paired with my tea. I always make a point of trying out the local culinary delights wherever I go! They say a full belly is a happy belly - and that applies even when wearing pink sequins.

I spent the rest of my day making my way to the beautiful mountainside and, after finding the most pink tree, of course! (You would’ve thought it was planted there especially for me!) I gave myself a quick tutu-twirling ballet performance amongst the lush green scenery – the wind whispering through the trees made a beautiful soundtrack! Just as the setting sun made the whole landscape golden, I knew it was time to head back to the hotel and pack my sparkly, pink bags for the long journey back to Derbyshire, ready for my next big adventure - I had a show to perform at a horse-riding school!

The thing is, the beauty of pink is it goes anywhere – whether you're dancing in a theater, twirling through a meadow, performing in front of horses, or going for afternoon tea - I adore it when you find the pink in unexpected places and situations, and of course I want all my readers to go on their own pinktastic adventures!

To quote myself… pink is a mood, it's a style, it’s a philosophy - and it is all about spreading love, joy, and laughter - so don’t forget… a tutu makes you the star of any show!

Go forth, my darlings, and let your pink flag fly!

Lots of pink love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
