Walkden: Pink Tutu Sparkles Does the North!

Hello my fabulous friends! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you another burst of pink and sparkle from the incredible world of drag! Today marks post number 2002 on www.pink-tutu.com – can you believe it? We're nearly at 2,000! I'm feeling so excited and incredibly grateful for all of you who follow my journey.

Today's post takes me all the way up north, to the charming town of Walkden! This amazing little town has stolen my heart, not only for its vibrant community, but for its fantastic mix of historical buildings and bustling market squares. This trip really does take me back to my Derbyshire roots - Walkden reminded me so much of the quaint towns I grew up in, full of local character and warm faces.

Now, you all know how much I love a good journey, especially by train. It's not just the views (though they're often stunning) but it's also about the stories. I met the most interesting people on this trip. There was this adorable granny who was rocking a hot pink coat, she gave me the biggest grin when she saw my pink tutu! And there was a family travelling to a wedding who were all in matching bow ties, it made me want to break out a polka-dot tutu!

I found the most delightful little tea shop in Walkden, The Buttercup Tearoom, absolutely adorable, full of floral prints and vintage china. I had the most exquisite strawberry and cream scone – it practically melted in my mouth! This was my fuel for my afternoon stroll around the town centre, where I marveled at the Victorian architecture, some of which is older than I am!

One of the most wonderful things about being Pink Tutu Sparkles is getting to meet so many lovely people. In Walkden, I bumped into a group of schoolchildren who were so thrilled to see a pink tutu out and about! They all wanted photos with me, and it really made my day. They were so full of energy, it's inspiring to see their youthful excitement!

Later that evening, I performed at the Walkden Arts Centre – I was the special guest for their 'Dancing with the Stars' fundraising event! It was such a joy to share the stage with other talented performers, and it's truly a joy for me to be a part of fundraising for the arts – especially when they help young performers and students! The night was absolutely magical, with a real community feel – there were kids in tutus in the audience! (Just you wait, maybe the next generation of Pink Tutu Sparkles is waiting to emerge.) I absolutely adored it, it's the perfect blend of glamour, laughter, and heartfelt passion that makes my drag work so rewarding.

My time in Walkden wasn’t just about the performance, but also about discovering the local charm of this town. Walkden reminded me so much of my Derbyshire home - that same gentle countryside air, those heartwarming village pubs, and the sheer welcoming nature of its people. It was the perfect place to embrace the peacefulness of the North. And don’t even get me started on the beautiful gardens I saw while strolling around – seriously, it made me want to invest in some colourful flowers for my own tiny balcony in Derbyshire!

One thing that really stood out about Walkden was the sense of community. Everywhere I went, people were smiling and talking to each other. There was a real sense of belonging. And it just goes to show – a smile and a pink tutu can go a long way in brightening someone’s day, even on a cloudy afternoon!

As I always say, travel is one of the most amazing things about being Pink Tutu Sparkles. Every place I go feels like a story just waiting to be told. And what a story Walkden turned out to be! I even brought home a lovely handmade souvenir – a charming pink knitted shawl with a little tiny tutu attached! (Isn't that the sweetest?) I will cherish it and always think back to the incredible time I spent in Walkden.

So, as always, my darlings, keep those tutus twirling and stay sparkling! Don't forget to share your pink tutu adventures with me – maybe you'll be the star of my next blog post! You know you can follow my journey daily on www.pink-tutu.com and make sure to subscribe for more glitzy goodness and updates on my future performances!

Keep shining, lovelies!

Yours truly,

Pink Tutu Sparkles (and Alex when I'm not shimmering on stage!)
