Bexleyheath: Tutu Travels! (Blog Post #2019)

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from Bexleyheath! I’ve got to tell you, this town has seriously got it going on! It's got the quintessential British charm, friendly locals, and of course, a fabulous stage for a fabulous queen like me.

But let’s rewind the clock a little, shall we? This little trip started in my hometown, the glorious county of Derbyshire. Yes, folks, I traded my lab coat for my sequined bodice (and let's be honest, it was way more fun!) and headed south, on a trusty steed - I'm talking about the London Underground of course.

Now, I know some might scoff at travelling by train, but there's just something so glamorous about whizzing past the countryside with your tutu swishing around your legs, and maybe catching a cheeky peek at the faces of fellow commuters. Plus, you get a real chance to showcase those killer platform boots! I swear, the carriages become my personal catwalk. 😉

Reaching Bexleyheath was a breeze. I couldn't wait to feel the energy of this little corner of London! My friend Poppy (you might recognise her from my blog, she's got the most stylish wardrobe, particularly for vintage dresses), told me about a local arts festival here. It was the perfect opportunity to spread my message of tutu-power!

As I stepped out of the train station, the smell of fish and chips hit me, a lovely English scent! It really is a delightful town! A delightful town, perfect for someone who, shall we say, prefers a little sparkle!

And what did I do first? Well, I knew I needed to get a taste of the local cuisine! The fish and chips stall by the station seemed like the perfect way to kick things off, so, armed with my plastic-coated tutu and a bag of salty goodness, I went for a little promenade. Let’s just say, this queen needs to consider adding another 10 inches to her skirt to avoid any accidents. 😉

After a brief and delicious culinary experience, it was time for the main attraction: the Bexleyheath Arts Festival! There were performers, art stalls, even a fabulous puppet show! It was simply magical, truly the epitome of community spirit. And oh, did I mention the parade? I have never seen so many children adorned with tutus. You would have thought they were marching straight into a whimsical fairy tale!

This truly reminded me why I love my work so much! It's all about spreading a bit of sparkle and joy, reminding everyone that you don't have to be shy about who you are. After a good look around, and a good many gasps of delight from all the festival-goers who noticed my pink, flowing tulle, I knew what I had to do. It was time to make this festival my own!

So, as the day's light started to fade, and the setting sun painted the sky with hues of rose gold and violet (colours perfect for my collection, if I do say so myself), it was time to perform. The organisers were absolutely lovely, welcoming me with open arms (or, well, perhaps with excited gasps at my fabulous, pink ensemble).

And what a performance it was! I can’t reveal all the secrets yet, darlings, you'll have to check my vlog for the full details, but let's just say, I brought my signature moves, a couple of new routines I picked up at ballet class last week, and the full force of my pinktastic energy. The crowd went wild, it was magical!

I want to share one particularly delightful moment with you, though: after my final twirl, a little girl, no older than six, rushed up to me. Her eyes sparkled brighter than a diamond tiara! She handed me a beautifully crafted drawing of a fairy, complete with the most vibrant pink wings you can imagine. She told me it was inspired by my performance and that it was for me. I swear, I choked up right there!

You see, this is what it's all about, darlings: sharing joy, bringing light and happiness, reminding everyone that the magic within them, just needs a little nudge to sparkle! That little girl’s smile is the ultimate affirmation for me - reminding me that I'm making a difference, spreading the Tutu love, one fabulous twirl at a time!

So, what’s next, you ask? Well, let’s just say, I have a lot planned for my dear Bexleyheath! The town council is giving me free reign to organize a "Tutu Town Takeover” event! Think workshops on tutu-making, "Tutu-ific" afternoon teas, even a "Tutu-Walkathon"! This little queen is ready to make history!

It’s a long journey back to my Derbyshire lab, but let me tell you, I’m coming home filled with joy, inspiration, and enough memories to last a lifetime! The warmth of the Bexleyheath community and the energy of the festival were just what I needed. And the best part? My pink tutu has become a treasured memory for so many people!

My journey continues, my dear friends. I'm heading towards the North of the country next - there’s a fabulous county fair coming up and you know this Tutu Queen can’t miss out! And you can bet your sparkly bottom dollar that I'll be spreading the pink tulle love wherever I go!

But before I head off on my next grand adventure, I have to say this: every day I learn something new, about life, about myself, about what it truly means to be "Pink Tutu Sparkles.”
