Bishop Auckland, You Beautiful Thing! (Blog Post #2056)

Helloooo, darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with a brand-new blog post straight from the cobbled streets of Bishop Auckland! (Can you hear that, darling? My sparkly stiletto heels click-clacking against these historical stones!)

Let’s just take a moment to admire the magnificent scenery. Bishop Auckland is utterly divine, a little gem in County Durham! It’s so charming with its castle and quaint cobblestone streets, the architecture is just heavenly. It reminds me of the backdrop of a Jane Austen novel - except with slightly more glitter!

Today was all about spreading the pink tutu love, my darlings! I kicked off the day at the charming Bishop Auckland market, greeting everyone with my signature sparkly wave and, of course, showcasing my new pink-and-gold tutu with feathered trim (a must-have for any self-respecting fashionista!). You'd be surprised at how many people said, "Pink is definitely your colour!" - a sentiment I can only agree with, darlings. 😉

The market was a veritable feast for the senses - the smells of fresh produce, the chatter of vendors and shoppers, and the sight of colourful stalls filled with everything from hand-crafted jewellery to homemade jams! My senses were truly tingling. Speaking of senses, have I told you about the newest line of perfume I’m testing in my laboratory? It’s called "Pink Sparkle" and you wouldn’t believe the reactions when I wear it. Everyone thinks I'm just that dazzling. But honestly, it's the scent! And of course, my impeccable outfit, all pink, fluffy, and sparkling... 😉

After a scrumptious lunch at a quaint little café - you simply have to try their rhubarb crumble! - I took a tour of the grand Bishop Auckland Castle, admiring the impressive stained glass windows, sprawling gardens, and, of course, the historical charm of this medieval beauty. The architecture is just breath-taking, isn't it? You simply have to check it out when you visit.

The day wasn’t complete without a stop at the magnificent Bishop Auckland Theatre. They have a phenomenal upcoming lineup, all thanks to the hard work of the local talent, it truly puts my own shows into perspective - in a good way, obviously, I’m still much more fabulous, darling. I must admit I’m very excited for their next production, a delightful ballet about a brave little butterfly who learns to love the colour pink! (Oh, darling, how I wish they’d have had me on board to choreograph it. Ahem! Maybe next time! 😉 ) I am completely serious, they should always seek my input when it comes to everything pink and tutu-related!

This trip has been so uplifting. It’s just wonderful to get out and about, spreading joy, sparkles and the pink-tutu-loving message to every corner of the nation! There is just nothing like seeing the look on people's faces when they see me twirling through a quaint town square! It’s a true blessing to be a pink-tutu-clad queen!

By the way, did I tell you I came here by train, darling? Such a romantic way to travel. But not without a bit of drama, of course! Let me tell you all about the hilarious incident I had with the trolley and an overly-excited toddler... 😜 You’ll have to wait for my next post for the juicy details! Oh, but it is exciting, just you wait. Until then, spread the love! Share a smile and twirl your heart out. Don’t forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com for a dose of pink sparkle in your day! And if you’re feeling bold, go grab a pink tutu and let your inner Pink Tutu Sparkles shine! 😘

Pink Tutu Sparkles’ Behind the Scenes

Speaking of journeys, it’s amazing how life unfolds, isn’t it? My pink-tutu journey began years ago while studying for a science degree at Nottingham University. It was a wild ride - juggling lab reports with dance rehearsals and all the drama of student life.

Remember those charity fundraisers everyone has in their university days? One night they were hosting a themed dance night, with every colour you can imagine represented, even some colours you couldn’t possibly imagine (they got quite creative). I must say, I always loved to experiment. And for this fundraiser, well I had a pink tulle skirt which I had sewn from leftover materials in our lab – I always had my hands full! But what I really needed was a top to match. You know the kind of shop that sells the "anything goes" type of fabrics? There was this fluffy, shimmery fabric. And there were pink sparkles in it - of course! I’m such a sucker for a sparkly fabric! I fashioned it into a sparkly top to go with the tulle skirt and I was the "pink tutu" queen for the night, complete with sparkly make-up and feathered headbands - my godmother’s amazing costume jewelry, I owe her a big thanks for that. And when I saw the reactions to my sparkly creation, a huge smile went across my face!

After that evening, I had such a rush! You know, when something is truly meant to be, it just feels right and it just clicks? And so my pink-tutu adventure started!

It’s crazy to think, just a few years later, I’m living out this dream – sharing my love for all things pink and tutu-related with the world! The only downside, though? Not getting enough sleep! Between my science lab day job – yes, darling, by day I'm Alex the scientist testing the amazing fabrics for some of the leading designers in the fashion world! I must admit I've seen my fair share of fabrics through my day job. - and my drag performances in the evening, my life’s become a blur of dazzling costumes and fascinating chemical reactions.

You know, I feel incredibly blessed to be able to do both – work my science magic in a laboratory by day and rock my pink tutus by night! The best part? Seeing people’s reactions! There are a lot of people who still need a little bit of "Pink Tutu Sparkles" in their lives! I'm not saying that I'm the cure for a bad day - it’s much more about brightening up the mood - I think! 😉 But every time I see a shy smile morph into a giggle after catching my performance or my sparkling pink dress catches someone’s eye – it makes it all worth it! The world needs a bit of glitter, love, and, of course, the beauty of a perfectly pink tutu. Don’t you agree?

Until next time, darlings!

Love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
