So, how do you travel in style when you're a drag queen with a tutu addiction? You might be thinking a pink limousine, right? WRONG! wink wink My transport of choice for this journey? A beautiful, vintage train carriage, with plush velvet seats and a view of the rolling green countryside. Swoon It's the ultimate combination of glam and a dash of whimsy, just like me!
I can't forget to mention my wardrobe, because where Pink Tutu Sparkles goes, the most fabulous fashions follow! I'm a bit of a packrat, you see. I mean, it takes a lot of sequins and feathers to ensure each performance is unforgettable! My luggage resembles a miniature boutique on wheels, stuffed to the brim with shimmering tulle, dazzling diamantés, and an entire collection of tutus - from pouffy ballerina numbers to dramatic, oversized creations, perfect for the stage. My suitcase practically groans under the weight of all the pink fabulousness, but who wouldn't be willing to drag such incredible cargo? 😉
Arriving in South Shields, the salty air kissed my face, and the bright lights of the promenade promised an electrifying night! It's a beautiful coastal town, with cobbled streets, charming boutiques and of course, the famous South Shields Museum and Art Gallery - I just had to pop in for a dose of culture! Let me tell you, the "Tutu Tales: A History of Ballet" exhibition was divine! Sigh Ballet, my darlings, it's the ultimate art form. So elegant, graceful and pure. It just fills me with joy - and, perhaps a slight yearning to perfect my own pirouette (I'm working on it!).
As the sun started its slow descent, I ventured out, ready to find the perfect spot for my performance. My plan? A public square, adorned with charming flower baskets and twinkling lampposts. What could be more charming? After setting up my stage (you'll be surprised what you can fit into a giant pink duffel bag!), I got my glitter on, gave my hair a final zhuzh and donned my most extravagant tutu, adorned with feathers and sequins, and ready to sparkle! I felt like a beautiful, oversized, shimmering candy floss dream! giggles
I started the performance with a vibrant number, choreographed around my favourite "ballet-street" style (think urban and contemporary moves mixed with graceful ballet moves!). I can’t explain the feeling of connection I experience on stage - a symphony of movement, music, and the magic of transforming into this fantastical character. Watching the audience laugh, clap and whoop for joy fills me with pure bliss. One little girl even shouted "You're like a sparkly rainbow!" That’s my goal, my darlings - to make every day sparkle with a touch of pink and glitter!
The evening concluded with a glorious singalong, and a wave of pink-hued euphoria that left the whole town shimmering with magic! As I gathered my sequins, feathers, and dreams, I felt the glow of another performance completed.
Now, I can't end this post without revealing a little secret - I always wear a tiny, almost invisible, tutu under my normal clothes! wink Because, you see, being a drag queen is not just about glitz and glamour. It's about confidence, self-expression, and defying expectations! It's about sharing your own special brand of magic with the world. It's about, well... being you, unapologetically and brilliantly. And isn't that worth a tiny tutu on the daily?
