Dewsbury Darling, My Tutu Travels! 🩰💖

Hello my dears, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-loving, glitter-bombing, stage-stealing diva, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and today we're venturing to the wonderful town of Dewsbury, Yorkshire! This is post number 2172 in my ongoing journey to share the magic of the pink tutu with the world, and I must tell you, this trip is all about finding some fabulously fun fashion finds in a new location.

You know me, I adore a good travel adventure, and there's something so romantic about train journeys. I packed my favourite pink travel suitcase (a vintage Louis Vuitton with added pink ribbon embellishments, naturally), grabbed my favourite pink scarf for the chill of the December air, and boarded the train in Derby with my usual entourage of sparkling lip glosses and my pink tutu collection for this weekend's performance.

Now, I won’t lie, the journey took a little longer than expected. That pesky train breakdown, typical! But I embraced the delay as a chance to bond with fellow passengers, sharing stories about our pink-tutu-inspired adventures, you know how it is! It's truly amazing how a little bit of sparkle can bring people together.

Upon arriving in Dewsbury, I was greeted by the most charming taxi driver who took one look at my sparkly suitcase and my signature pink feather boa, and he declared with a twinkle in his eye: "You’re going to liven up this town!” Honestly, I swear he had a glint in his eyes when I tipped him a few pounds (never tip in silver, you never know how the day will go)!

The hotel I booked was just the cutest little boutique place with, you guessed it, the most fabulous pink accent wall in the reception area. A little detail that added some serious charm to the place and proved my gut instinct about its aesthetic sensibilities was bang on! After unpacking (and snapping a few #pinktutuhotelroomfies for Instagram, of course), I couldn't resist a little self-pampering. A good hot bubble bath with rose petals (pink ones, naturally!) and some fluffy pink towels to finish. Pure bliss!

And oh my darling, the food scene in Dewsbury was fantastic! We're talking Yorkshire pudding perfection, hearty pie, and even some divine vegetarian dishes - and naturally, a cheeky pink cocktail in the local cocktail bar (we have to celebrate the pink in everything!).

Of course, no Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure is complete without a visit to the local ballet class. Yes, that's right, I'm an absolute ballet enthusiast. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about the flamboyant, expressive performance on stage, but there's something so graceful, magical and utterly satisfying about spending time in a ballet studio. This little gem of a dance studio had beautiful big mirrors, so of course, I put on a little performance of my own (don’t worry, I asked for permission first - the instructor thought I was fabulous!). And for the finale, I wore a fluffy pink tutu that I found at the cutest little boutique in town, filled with gorgeous outfits and unique trinkets. Honestly, it was a vintage dream. It was love at first sight – and for under twenty quid! What a find!

The best part? This weekend was a chance for me to find some fantastic new vintage finds. Now, I'm not talking dusty flea market finds here (though, those do have their own magic). I’m talking couture for a song, a symphony of silks, feathers, sequins, and vintage embellishments. You see, while I love the glitter and the sparkle, I also love the historical glamour, the craftsmanship and artistry in these amazing vintage finds, so I’ve got a real fondness for vintage boutiques and shops – especially if they stock lots of pink!

Speaking of finding hidden treasures, one of the highlights of my Dewsbury trip was the local theatre. You’re right! Where else would you find an array of captivating local talents?! As you know, I love any kind of theatrical performance - from grand productions to intimate, grassroots shows – the raw energy and passion is undeniable. And I have to say, the Dewsbury Theatre production of "Grease" was phenomenal. They even managed to fit a pink feather boa and some sequined tights into the scene where the pink ladies make their grand entrance! Now, you’re probably thinking - “that sounds incredible Pink Tutu, tell us more” and you’re right, that is going to be my next post - a deep dive into all things fabulous that happened at that show! I’ll tell you all about the costumes, the performers, and the electrifying energy that sent shivers down my spine and gave me the ultimate dose of inspiration.

All this talk of fashion and glitz and glam is exhausting, you know! After my thrilling theatre adventure, I retired to my cosy pink hotel room (you see, even hotel decor can have its moment in my world!) to get ready for my upcoming gig. That's right, after I leave you all, it’s straight back to work.

But darling, it's a small price to pay to continue on my grand adventure, spreading the pink-tutu gospel, one sparkly feather boa at a time. After all, my aim is to make every day a dance of joy! And you know what? If we can’t share some giggles, sparkle and delight with the world – what’s the point?

I hope this little glimpse into my journey in Dewsbury has inspired you to embrace your own inner Pink Tutu Sparkle! Don't be afraid to be bold, be bold with colour, experiment with styles, and most importantly, never, ever let go of that fabulous sense of joy and playfulness that makes life worth living!

Until next time my darling dears, stay fabulous!

P.S. Make sure you keep coming back for all my pink adventures. Next time? It’s a big, glittery post dedicated to my experiences at Dewsbury Theatre and that amazing “Grease” show. So much glitz, glam, and great costumes! Don’t miss out!
