Bangor Bound: Tutu Adventures in Pink! 💖

Hello my darling darlings! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and it's time for a blog update, because oh darling, I'm off on another adventure! You wouldn't believe what happened today… it's post number 2177 for the Pink-Tutu.com website, can you believe it?

The train whistle just blew as I write this, but my phone is out, the laptop's plugged in and I'm grabbing every ounce of Wi-Fi possible before the world slips by in a flurry of pink. I'm headed to Bangor, which has to be the most fabulous town in Wales, haven't you heard? And my fabulous self will be performing for a very special fair on Saturday, right smack in the heart of it. Oh, it's going to be such a treat!

Fashionable Adventures with the Pink Tutu Princess

Now, how did this train ride get planned, you ask? It all started with my lovely pal Fiona who was putting together this massive fundraising event in Bangor for a local theatre school, she even invited me! Fiona is one of the best organisers I know and has always supported my drag, even when I first started out in the old days - bless her cotton socks. We talked about the act, the outfits, the colours and then BAM! My vision started to bloom. This, my darlings, was to be a tutu extravaganza!

So, of course, I headed off to the nearest department store with Fiona to shop for some outfits! It was like walking into a pink paradise. Honestly, I swear there were tiny fairy dust angels scattered in the aisles. My purse, however, needed some serious magic because, oh, darling the choices were phenomenal. I was particularly drawn to this shimmery, lavender satin material – absolutely divine! Then we stumbled on a beautiful collection of tulle fabrics - like, pink! Pink, pink, pink everywhere! I ended up picking three different kinds, because, you know, it wouldn't be a Tutu Queen journey without a plethora of colours and textures. It's about creating stories with your looks, you see, and those stories need to be fabulous and pink!

After all that shopping, we were famished so we headed for the fanciest little café, and it was heavenly. I'm afraid I may have spent half an hour discussing the virtues of ballet dancing - particularly ballet dancing - because that's always the most fascinating topic. You see, a great performance, whether a drag show or a ballet, requires such strength, grace, and fluidity. A touch of theatrical brilliance wouldn't hurt either!

Pink Tutu Sparkles, a Star is Born…

For those of you new to this fabulous, pink-tastic journey, here's a bit about your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles! It all began in Derbyshire, back when my name was just plain Alex, and I was studying for my science degree, not entirely unlike most other sensible 20-something year olds. Then fate intervened and the most glamorous journey in my life was just a pink tutu away!

I was on the student council, we had a university ballet club that was fundraising for the local ballet company. You wouldn't believe the number of tutus in various colours - but what was there most of, you ask? Pink! * It was all *pink, from the frothiest tulle to the darkest crimson-infused pinks. We were surrounded by a veritable pink explosion! And that, my darlings, was when I felt it, the inevitable call of Pink Tutu Sparkles! It's hard to describe how it feels, like an electric current of sparkles and magic flowing through you.

Now, by day, I work in a lab, testing and evaluating fabrics, looking at the micro-world, the science behind how these materials perform and react, ensuring their durability and safety. Pretty serious stuff, you'd think, and in the past it was very serious. I lived by lab coats, microscopes, and chemical formulas.

By night, it's a completely different story. A pink, sparkly, tutu-clad story.

Oh, it took some convincing of those scientist colleagues of mine, you know? The lab people can be very serious folks, so it was a leap for them, but now I am a kind of ambassador.

Pink Tutu is The Cure, Always!

A Tutu Queen can be a scientist, see, it's possible to embrace both those worlds. Pink Tutu Sparkles has given me the chance to shine a light on a wider, more colourful perspective on life. And you know what? There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing the bewildered expressions on their faces when they come across me in my pink tulle at the lab meetings, totally outshining every lab coat, haha! It always puts a big smile on my face - it is contagious you see, the Tutu Queen way!

This Train to Bangor is Full of Promises...

Back to my journey, this train to Bangor has everything for a fab trip! So much pink! There are the bright crimson red seats, and the pale blue accents… oh and that fabulous light that’s starting to shine on the sea... it’s the same light I imagine hitting the stage tonight. The train even has these cute little pink lamps above each seat and even the table lamps have a lovely, gentle pink glow! Every detail matters, and this train ride has the ultimate in pink style! And you know what else? They play some great music in this train carriage. Honestly, it feels like I am living my Pink-tastic dreams right now, I'm surrounded by all the things that make me happy: music, pink, glitter and my love for dancing… it doesn't get much better than that.

And then there’s that whole performing element to look forward to, too! I’m going to perform the ‘Glitterlicious Tango’, which is all about showing off some sparkly leg work with the cutest pink tutu and the most dazzling pair of red heels. It will be such an elegant yet fierce performance. And there’s that bit where the lighting turns to spotlight my feather boas, and those boas have to dance too, of course, a sort of tutu ballet routine… oh darling!

I even have a brand new pink-fringed, feathery fan I can't wait to show off in this show. Oh, the glamour!
