Coalville Calling: Tutu-rific Times in the Heart of Leicestershire! 🩰💖🚂

Hey there, darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-toting queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and guess what? I'm in Coalville!

This vibrant little town in Leicestershire is positively bursting with charm, and it’s radiating the most delicious kind of nostalgia. I must say, I'm feeling an inexplicable urge to do a little pirouette on this cobblestone street... but hey, wouldn't want to make a scene! 😂

Anyway, let's talk about this fabulous trip! After a delightful ride on the railway - I must say, first class compartments with plush velvet seating really make me feel like royalty (and hey, in this tutu, I kinda am, right?) - I arrived in Coalville ready to sprinkle some glitter and twirl some joy into the hearts of everyone I meet.

As soon as I stepped off the train, I could feel the excitement bubbling inside of me. Coalville’s historic charm is something else! With quaint, brick-built houses nestled in little streets lined with flowers, it's like stepping into a Victorian fairytale. But there's a modern energy pulsing under the surface too.

My first stop was the magnificent Market Hall. Let me tell you, darling, it was an absolute feast for the eyes! You have no idea how happy this little girl in her tutu got, seeing a vibrant market full of locally-made crafts, delicious cheeses and baked treats, and a kaleidoscope of colours. I absolutely adore supporting independent shops and craftspeople, so it’s places like these where my heart really shines!

You know, being a drag queen has this incredible knack of drawing you into conversations you’d never have had before. I was talking to a lovely woman who was showing off her incredible knitting skills. Imagine – intricate hats in vibrant, playful colours. The whole thing was like watching a live performance of magic! As soon as she saw my tutu, her eyes lit up. "I always loved to dance!" she gushed. And suddenly, I'm surrounded by her stories, sharing my own love of ballet, and swapping knitting patterns with someone who might not have felt comfortable sharing those details otherwise.

Being in this market hall reminded me that everyone has a story to tell, and being bold and vibrant with our personalities allows us to connect in ways that were impossible before. It’s like a kaleidoscope, and every little conversation creates new colours that weave together a vibrant tapestry.

You’re probably wondering how my fashion choices were holding up amidst the hustle and bustle of this busy town, and I'll tell you, darlings – it’s all about layering! For a trip to the Coalville market, a pink-sequined tank top under my bright pink tutu is my go-to. Of course, I accessorized with my favourite fuchsia feather boa (for a bit of extra dramatic flair), and a pink-studded, patent leather handbag to add some sleek elegance. I mean, one should always embrace an occasion, even if it's just picking up some fresh local produce!

My next adventure in Coalville was a delightful trip to the beautiful Snibston Museum & Country Park. Now, for those of you who don’t know, this is a delightful blend of history and nature. A bit of a nostalgic journey through mining’s impact on the region, combined with an absolute feast for the eyes in the surrounding woodland.

My favourite thing about Snibston was the magnificent outdoor sculpture gallery, which really made me stop and admire its artistic prowess! It was a truly inspirational moment, surrounded by art created by local and international talent. One sculpture in particular captured my attention. It was called “The Gathering,” and it looked like a group of dancers caught in mid-pose. I couldn’t resist taking a few photos in front of it with my own “posing.”

Don’t worry, darlings, I got all my outfit changes for my public appearance and photos right here at my own private mobile ‘dressing room’. My trusty camper van, adorned with sparkly decals and, of course, a magnificent pink-feather boa waving proudly on the roof antenna, is my home on wheels! Now, the space is a tad tight to fit in my collection of over 50 pink tutus (a girl needs options, right?) and a vanity table the size of a dressing room… but hey, I make it work. My space is truly a glamorous explosion of everything pink!

Now, you know I always try to squeeze in some ballet-related activities when I'm travelling, and Coalville, as luck would have it, offered a most wonderful opportunity! At the fantastic New College of Coalville, I participated in a masterclass. Let’s just say, being a tutu-clad dancer surrounded by aspiring young ballerinas was a highlight of my entire trip!

As I pirouetted and pliéd alongside the students, I realized how many talented dancers Coalville was nurturing. The enthusiasm of the students was contagious, and it reminded me of the sheer joy I experience when I’m twirling and expressing myself through dance. And hey, what’s a drag queen if not an expression of our artistic selves, right?

As the evening rolled in, it was time for my main event - the grand performance at the fantastic Coalville Arts Centre. I tell you, darlings, the audience was magnificent! I got so many "pink tutu" shoutouts – everyone loves the message and, truth be told, the glitter-and-tutu show. And there were children! Little ones were twirling their tiny arms and dancing along with me – which just makes everything that little bit sweeter, you know?

After a brilliant show, the stage manager came up to me and said, “We’ve had so many people come in and say, ‘I love your tutu! We must be getting with the program – all pink tutus next!’ ” You know, sometimes a little nudge in the right direction is all we need, and who’s to say a good bit of colourful confidence doesn’t get things rolling?

So there you have it, darling. My adventures in Coalville, where a pink tutu queen's vibrant personality got to shine, inspire and make a splash of happiness wherever it landed! If you ever find yourself near this beautiful corner of Leicestershire, be sure to visit this lovely town, enjoy the historic sights and the warmth of its residents – and of course, don’t forget to pack your most colourful outfit (and maybe a little pink tutu for good measure). After all, it's not just about the costume, it's about letting your inner fabulous shine through.

Now, before I go, I have one important announcement! You see, darling, you all inspire me so much. You’re my motivation! But I also love to share the sparkle. And there's this amazing charity, "Dancing Shoes for Every Child," that supports children's access to dance education – the very kind of place where this pink-tutu queen really learned how to fly. For the next week, every donation to my PayPal account will be matched – so we can get these kids dancing in style. It’s going to be a wonderful experience!

Until next time, darling, remember, it’s always tutu-rific when you choose to shine!
