Deal, Deal, Deal! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles, Ready for a Tutu-licious Adventure! 🩰💖

Hello my gorgeous tutu-lovers! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles, signing in for blog post number 2285 from the charming coastal town of Deal. This little corner of Kent has been calling my name for months, whispering promises of fresh sea air, stunning coastline, and perhaps, just perhaps, a cheeky fish and chip supper (and I do adore a good fish and chip, you know! Especially with lashings of mushy peas! 😄).

Today's outfit is, of course, a triumph of pink, because well, what's a trip to the seaside without a dash of sparkle? Imagine, if you will, a billowing cloud of softest tulle, the palest shade of rosebud pink, a whirlwind of layers that whispers and dances as I walk. It's topped off with a sequined bodice that shimmers like a mermaid's scales, and a pink feather boa that flutters like a butterfly's wings. Oh, the magic of it all!

And as for my journey? Well, wouldn't you know it, I decided to embrace the charm of a vintage railway carriage and hop on a train from my little Derbyshire home. The countryside whizzed past, painted in hues of emerald and gold, the air smelling of lavender and freedom. It was almost as though the journey itself was part of my performance. Do you know what, you girls and boys, the train ride really was like a ballet! I'm thinking of starting a Tutu on the Tracks troupe, what do you think? 😂

Oh! I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be in Deal, it's so lovely here! This town is positively bursting with history and character. Just the other day I strolled through the Old Town, admiring the half-timbered houses that lean in like old friends sharing a secret. I spotted a cute little antique shop tucked away in a corner, and wouldn't you know it, I found a stunning antique jewellery box covered in the most exquisite pink floral design. I swear it was just begging to be taken home with me!

My favourite place, so far, has been the Deal Pier. Just being down on the beach, listening to the seagulls and the waves crashing against the rocks, and feeling the soft, cool sand between my toes… it’s truly magical. It reminds me a bit of my first trip to the coast with my granny. We'd walk along the pier, munching on "Rock", a deliciously sweet seaside treat you can only get in England, and just chat about everything and nothing, all day long.

Later on, I'll be making my way to Deal Castle, a place of such incredible historical significance, it takes my breath away. You just know a queen like me is going to be rocking my tutu at a location with that much regal history! I can already see the pictures in my head – Pink Tutu Sparkles, framed against the majestic walls, with a backdrop of the sparkling sea!

Of course, no trip to the coast would be complete without a theatrical extravaganza. Tonight, I'm set to perform at the fabulous Deal Pavilion! A theatre steeped in a rich tradition of theatrical excellence. I have just finished designing a stunning new number, perfect for the grand stage - I'm keeping it under wraps for now, a little surprise! But let's just say it's going to involve sequins, feathers, a sprinkle of magic dust, and possibly a tiny pink tutu, or two!

Oh, and speaking of tutues… did you know that I got my first glimpse of tutu heaven right here, in Deal, back when I was a starry-eyed, 18-year-old just beginning to blossom into my drag persona?

Yes, it’s true! I was a student at the time, tucked away in a lab coat studying my science degree – my real name is Alex, if you didn’t know - but at night I came alive. And on this particular evening, I found myself at a university dance charity event. Now, Alex, she wasn't known for her boldness, but she’d always adored ballet and felt drawn to the idea of helping a good cause, and so, with a flutter of excitement and a nervous stomach, I stepped into a shop-bought tutu.

And the world just stopped.

The moment I felt that fluffy, airy fabric brush my skin, a strange feeling washed over me, like an awakening. Suddenly, I wasn't just Alex, I felt like something entirely different – a shimmer, a shine, a pink sparkle. And Pink Tutu Sparkles was born!

My scientific background is still very important to me. By day I still work at the lab testing different fabrics. But now my knowledge of fabric texture is crucial for my Pink Tutu designs, knowing what makes fabrics flow best for my dazzling costumes and stage work. Plus I have a fantastic opportunity to research and experiment with new materials! I’m thinking of designing a range of eco-friendly tutus for all you fab fashion conscious souls. Maybe some shimmering sea-glass and seaweed sequins would work a treat!

It's been a long and wonderful journey since then, my loves. From that first hesitant twirl in a charity tutu, to becoming a queen with a stage show filled with glitter, feathers, and just the right touch of sass. But my true mission has always been to spread the message of tutus and to inspire everyone to embrace the joyful wonder that lies within us all.

Let’s not be shy – let your colours fly! 💖

And in the meantime, my dear friends, follow me on Instagram and Tik Tok and catch my stories and see what the Queen of Tutu is up to - I have some incredible performances coming up in the next few months, so stay tuned!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I must dash off. It’s tea time in Deal!

Lots of love, Your very own,

Pink Tutu Sparkles x
