Bulwell Calling: Pink Tutu Sparkles Takes On The Midlands!

Post Number 2290

Hello darlings! Your favourite Pink Tutu Princess is back with another glittering adventure! Today's journey takes us to the bustling streets of Bulwell, Nottinghamshire - a town steeped in history, and quite frankly, a lot of charm (even if I do say so myself!).

It's been a while since I've ventured into the Midlands. A cheeky bit of business popped up on my drag calendar – I got an invite to perform at the local fair, and let me tell you, darlings, I just couldn't turn it down.

Now, I must admit, Bulwell isn't exactly known for its haute couture scene. (I think I've heard a whisper or two of "that's where the chips come from, luv") but trust your girl to bring the glamour, because my dear reader, that's what I'm all about!

Before my grand arrival in Bulwell, I had to do a bit of research, a touch of reconnaissance, you see. I am nothing if not a prepared performer. Turns out, Bulwell is bursting with fascinating stories - from tales of Robin Hood and the ancient Roman heritage to its vibrant music scene and a history of coal mining. Talk about a town full of personality!

Anyway, darlings, back to the glamour. Let's rewind to my morning routine before hitting the stage: it was all about channeling my inner Pink Tutu Goddess!

Firstly, I treated myself to a piping hot mug of builder's tea. My good friend Rosie (who I swear, I met through a Tutu event - talk about serendipity) gifted me this lovely teapot in the shape of a fluffy, pink poodle! So adorable, I simply had to document the entire experience with a selfie, for my lovely readers, of course! Pinkies up!.

Now, let's talk wardrobe. As always, Pink Tutu Sparkles's outfits are chosen with utmost care! And let's be honest, what is a Pink Tutu Princess without a fabulous tutu? I went for my favourite fuchsia-coloured number, which is actually vintage, darlings! I snagged it in an antique shop just down the road from my place - and trust me, you wouldn't believe the story. Whispers It's quite the scandalous tale - just the way I like them.

Anyway, after a quick pitstop to add a touch of glitter (more glitter, always more glitter!), I was good to go! The Bulwell fairground was positively brimming with excitement and a whole lot of happy people. I just knew I was in the right place for my performance!

After I’d had a quick chinwag with my trusty stage manager, a sweet chap called Barry (we are, naturally talking a touch of makeup, a bit of lipstick and some of those fabulous eyelashes) and bang, we were on stage, dazzling the crowds with a dazzling number I’ve named 'The Ballad of the Bulwell Fairy’. The applause was incredible and they even knew all the words to the song! I honestly felt like a true Queen for a few minutes, darling.

But wait, it gets even better - after my performance, I had the honour of meeting the delightful Mayor of Bulwell - a darling fellow who was, naturally, utterly enthralled with my tutu. The look on his face! I almost fainted, darling!

He asked about my love for ballet (a topic we could have talked about for hours) and then he invited me to stay for the fair! I don’t think I have ever been more honoured in my entire career!

Of course, I stayed! I took full advantage of my honorary invite, spun my fabulous pink tutu under the carousel lights, won a cheeky penguin (I’ve named him Barry, after my wonderful stage manager) and tucked into some lovely fish and chips (even that is part of my job! Someone needs to test their quality! wink).

By the time the clock hit ten pm and the last fairgoer had wandered off, I was utterly exhausted. Not from the dancing, darlings (though I did have that good a time). It was the sheer delight of the entire experience - connecting with new friends, sharing the joy of a spectacular day in Bulwell, making the whole town shine brighter thanks to the glorious power of the pink tutu.

What a day, darlings. Now excuse me, I've got a hot mug of cocoa waiting for me (I swear this morning’s teapot has magical powers - it makes the perfect tea and chocolate too!). Tomorrow, we set off to the Isle of Man for a gig in a fabulous coastal town, but this darling has got a long train journey ahead of her so darlings I'd best bid you adieu for now. As always, please feel free to share your thoughts about Bulwell in the comments!

Remember to visit Pink Tutu's corner for a little more sparkly chat and to check out the website at www.pink-tutu.com because who doesn't need a daily dose of tutu goodness? And as always, don’t forget to spread the word, darling. One day, everyone in the world will be wearing a tutu. It’s inevitable!

With love and sparkle,

Pink Tutu Sparkles!
