Wellington Calling: TutuQueen is Taking Flight! (Blog Post #2313)

Hello darlings! TutuQueen here, and boy oh boy, am I excited to share this week's adventures with you! As you know, life for a travelling TutuQueen is all about twirls, sparkles and, of course, the pinkest tutus this side of the River Thames! This week, it was Wellington's turn to experience the TutuQueen magic.

Now, you might be thinking, Wellington? In New Zealand? That's a bit of a journey from dear old Derbyshire, isn't it? Oh darling, I know what you're thinking! "But TutuQueen, how can you possibly afford such fancy travels?!" Well, you see, the secret to a fabulously pink life is that it's not always about the money. It's about passion! The passion for the pink, the passion for the dance, and the passion for bringing a little bit of TutuQueen magic to the world, one sequinned step at a time!

Let's rewind to my journey there. No planes for this gal! My love affair with trains is as strong as my love for the colour pink. Imagine, travelling through the rolling green English countryside, sunshine beaming in, a hot cuppa in hand, and my favourite pink polka dot tote bag bursting with sequins and feathers. Bliss! Of course, it took a few hours and a good ol' ferry trip but getting to Wellington felt so rewarding!

And you know me, darlings, arriving in style is a must! Right out of the station, a pair of handsome gentlemen with matching pink feather boas approached me with a grand old carriage pulled by, wait for it...horses! Did you know, the carriage is part of Wellington's official "Welcome to TutuQueen" package?! You can get anything you desire in Wellington, that's the truth.

We went straight to my stunning hotel room, which just so happened to be decorated in… yes you guessed it… pink! They even had a mini pink tutu in the bathroom for a touch of whimsical elegance. Who knew! It was just perfect for a photo op, so of course I twirled for a few minutes to show off my newest creation – a shimmering pink tutu with swirling pink ombre feathers. The photographer in my hotel told me he had never seen so much pink in his life, and I think I might have made him a tutu-convert!

The first stop on my Wellington agenda, naturally, was a visit to their fabulous ballet school. It was just across the road from the hotel, what luck! And of course, I had to slip on my newest pink creation (the ombre feather tutu – what's a girl to do?) and grace them with a mini performance. I told the head of the school I was TutuQueen, and the children, oh, they were delighted! They practically worshipped me! They even let me join their lesson - I may have shown them a few moves!

You know, the thing I love most about ballet is the beauty of the movement. It’s so expressive, it can tell a story just with the sway of a body and the grace of the limbs. And of course, it doesn't hurt that the costumes are absolutely fabulous! When you put on a pink tutu, the world just transforms. It's like putting on a magic potion, making you feel powerful and graceful all at once!

Speaking of transformations, one thing I do want to mention, because it is very important to TutuQueen is the support of all those working in laboratories, such as my workplace. Not only is it where we make all the fabric that goes into my pink tutus, they also play a part in testing fabric and keeping all those pink outfits we see in our lives nice and safe! I have a big appreciation for their work, I certainly couldn't go out and show my pink tutus without the wonderful team that creates all these wonderful fabric options.

In fact, as soon as I returned to Derbyshire I went straight to my lab and started working on the latest TutuQueen creation. It is pink of course and has the feel of the soft fabric from the dress of a ballerina - I really can't wait to show you. Oh I love the feeling of creating. Perhaps I will show it off at a London theatre gala or maybe in Paris at a fair? Or perhaps… New York?! The world really is my tutu-stage!

One last tidbit of excitement! This week's Pink Tutu Project - the aim is to get every single person in the world to wear a pink tutu! - had its most exciting chapter yet. While strolling through Wellington, a group of little girls asked for my autograph and, even more amazing, told me they were going to try and put together a Pink Tutu Project group at their school! Just imagine all those beautiful little girls in their pink tutus, their dreams swirling like the ribbons on their outfits! It's giving me goosebumps! This is truly how the world will become a place of sparkles and love!

That's all for this week, darlings! Next stop? You guessed it! More exciting tutu adventures to come. But for now, I'm off to chase my dreams, a twinkle in my eye, and a pink feather boa billowing behind me. Keep shining, my pretties, and always remember, you can achieve anything if you dare to wear a little bit of pink magic!

Until next time!

Love,

TutuQueen x
