Hellooooo, my lovely lot! It’s your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back for another whirlwind adventure in the world of glitter, glamour, and, of course, pink tutus! ??
Today, I’m whisking you away to the charming town of Rochdale. I know what you’re thinking - Rochdale? Not exactly the first place that springs to mind for a flamboyant drag queen like myself, but trust me, darlings, it was a right hoot! This is blog post number 2369, in case you're keeping count!
It all started, as it always does, with a pink tutu dream. This one, however, involved a rather exciting mode of transport: a majestic, dappled-grey horse! (Yep, you read that right, dear readers!) Now, you'll know that I'm no stranger to travelling in style - a journey by train always brings out my inner Audrey Hepburn, but I've always had a bit of a soft spot for a good gallop on a noble steed. ?
After securing a performance spot at the Rochdale Fair (another pinch-me moment!), I decided to arrive in grand fashion - think a fluffy, bubblegum-pink tutu, my trusty sparkly top hat perched on my head, and, of course, my very own four-legged companion, a handsome grey gelding named Beau. ? Yes, darling, my life is truly a fairytale!
The journey was picture-perfect: the rolling green hills of Derbyshire (my humble abode) transforming into the charming landscape of Greater Manchester, with the sun painting everything in a warm, golden glow. You can find my pink tutus in every colour you can imagine. I could hardly resist snapping a few photos - just wait until you see my Instagram!
Upon arriving in Rochdale, Beau and I were greeted by a cheerful throng of fair-goers, all eyes fixed on my sparkly presence. Let me tell you, darlings, it's a little exhilarating being the centre of attention, even with a horse in tow! The fairground was abuzz with excitement, and the air was thick with the intoxicating scent of candy floss, hotdogs, and, yes, even freshly-baked cupcakes (another personal fave!) ?
After a brief encounter with the town's rather unimpressed Mayor (he wasn’t much for a pink tutu, dearie!), I decided it was time to take in the local sights. The first stop was, naturally, the Rochdale Town Hall - an elegant, Victorian masterpiece adorned with stunning architectural details. Talk about a photo op, darlings! ?
And speaking of photo ops, it simply wouldn’t have been a proper pink tutu pilgrimage without a little trip to the famous Rochdale Pioneers Museum. (Don’t worry, my fellow history buffs, I didn’t ditch the tutu!) This historic building, brimming with fascinating displays on the birth of the co-operative movement, was surprisingly charming.
Of course, no day in Rochdale could be complete without a trip to the renowned Rochdale Ballet School! I just couldn’t resist sneaking in for a quick peek. Watching these budding young ballerinas (all sporting exquisite pink tutus, of course!) filled me with pure joy and a bit of longing for those youthful days, pirouette-ing and leaping my way through life. (Speaking of ballet, my next performance is at a delightful ballet theatre in Birmingham, a week from today, a city that is not far from where my grandmother lived, with a tutu dedicated to her!
With the day waning and my little pink-tutu-powered heart filled with happy memories, it was time for my main event - a glamorous drag show at the Rochdale Fairground! My act was inspired, of course, by my journey - think “pink-tutu-wearing princess on a magical quest,” but with a bit of a whimsical, sassy twist (oh, I am not giving away all the secrets, lovelies!). Let’s just say that it involved a dazzling costume change, a little glitter-bomb magic, and plenty of those crowd-pleasing dance moves you all love so much! ✨
After my dazzling performance, I bid farewell to Rochdale (and my dear Beau), promising to return soon. This trip was, without a doubt, a fantastic pink tutu escapade. If you're looking for a day trip filled with a dash of history, a sprinkle of fairground fun, and a whole lot of pink tutu fabulousness, I wholeheartedly recommend Rochdale! Oh, and if you're ever in Derbyshire, do drop in for a chat (and maybe a quick pink tutu tutorial) at my laboratory!
Until next time, my loves, stay sparkling! ?
