Taunton, oh Taunton, you’ve enchanted me from the moment I set foot on the platform, my tulle billowing in the breeze (it is always windy at the station, isn’t it?). The journey here was delightful – I travelled in style, naturally, on the 10:30 from Derby. Honestly, trains are so chic, especially when you’re travelling in pink! It really lets you feel the drama. And I can’t help but get excited every time I board the train and think about all the fabulous adventures it will take me on. Plus, you get the most fantastic people watching from the windows!
My journey to Taunton was a perfect mix of travel and inspiration. The scenery from Derbyshire was just stunning. You’ve gotta love a journey with rolling green fields, cute cottages, and little farms dotted here and there. It reminds me of a perfect, countryside ballet scene, don’t you think? Just imagine a bunch of us fabulous swans gliding through those fields! (Perhaps a future performance inspiration, darling? 🦢🩰)
When I arrived at Taunton, it was all hustle and bustle, a real mix of the old and new. The bustling market was just calling my name! My, my, those lovely colours, fabrics, and textures, a real feast for the eyes! Honestly, every stall seemed to have the perfect little fabric to spark inspiration for my next tutu creation! And the flowers! Oh my goodness! Imagine the tulle I could create if I was lucky enough to get hold of all those gorgeous flowers! Honestly, I just needed a bigger bag to stuff all the gorgeousness in, darling!
It just wouldn't be a trip to Taunton without a little visit to the magnificent Museum of Somerset. You know me, I’m a massive history buff and the history of Somerset is so rich, oh honey! It was like stepping back in time with every exhibit, every little treasure unearthed. Imagine all those fabulous outfits from bygone eras! Can you even imagine what a vintage tea party would look like with the Museum of Somerset collection, draped on us glamorous girls? 🫖🩰
Oh, but of course, what would a trip to Taunton be without a dance, a waltz, a swish and a twirl in one of those magnificent buildings? Honestly, a visit to Taunton was incomplete without a visit to the stunning, absolutely stunning, Octagon Theatre. And trust me, this girl knows a good theatre when she sees one! As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was surrounded by elegance and glamour, oh honey, I could have stayed in that building forever. Can you imagine all those famous dancers twirling on that stage! And just the history that hangs in the air. Oh, and I must mention the wonderful sound of the beautiful old organ; you could hear it echo throughout the whole building. Truly magic, truly glorious, a bit of magic and theatre heaven. The most inspiring bit for me was definitely their latest exhibition. Imagine a room filled with fabulous fabrics and vintage tutus and you’ve got a dream! 😍

Honestly, Taunton, you've absolutely charmed me with your quaint streets, the market smells, and those incredible, inspiring buildings. But most of all, you’ve ignited the sparkle in my heart! Who knows, perhaps my next journey will involve more history, more stunning architecture, and yes, even more pink, even more sequins! 💖 But that's a story for another time.
