Hello my darlings! Welcome to post number 2447 on your favourite pink-tutu-tastic blog! 💖💖💖 I'm your Queen of Pink, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another tale from the glitter-strewn path of my life! Today's adventure takes me to the charming town of Kettering!
This week I've been feeling the need to trade my dancing shoes for something a little less 'whirl' and a little more 'churn'! So, I bid farewell to my ballet studio, swapped my satin slippers for a pair of sturdy, pink, of course, riding boots and boarded a glorious red train straight to the heart of Kettering! Now, don't you worry your pretty little sequins, my darlings, the railway station is a veritable palace of pink, complete with a sparkling chandelier and the kindest stationmaster ever, he even complimented my feather boa!
The train journey was simply divine. I love the rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels, it makes me think of the staccato steps of a beautifully choreographed ballet, only without the potential for a nasty ankle-snapping tumble! I had the entire carriage to myself and indulged in a little pampering. Face masks, hair treatments, you name it! 💅💅
And then, poof, like a magical puff of pink smoke, I found myself in Kettering. Now, I'll be honest, my darlings, it wasn't exactly the Eiffel Tower. No soaring cathedrals, no glistening beaches, just a delightful little town buzzing with life. I felt immediately welcomed by the local market, full of the most wonderful artisanal goodies – freshly-baked pies, hand-knitted jumpers, even a stall selling bespoke tutus! I almost felt tempted to buy a whole pile of pink tutus, but alas, my suitcase was already bursting with a rainbow of sparkles! ✨
Kettering's got a charming town square with a little clock tower, perfect for some photo ops! I mean, how could I miss an opportunity to get a glamorous picture for the 'gram, complete with my signature pink tutu and the most dramatic hand gesture I could manage! My followers were absolutely loving it! 🤩
Speaking of followers, I just love meeting my loyal fan-club, these beautiful souls who believe in the pink tutu revolution! Turns out, Kettering is teeming with pink tutu aficionados! It's just a bit of a hidden gem, my darlings, like a secret ballet class nestled amongst a bunch of knitting circles! 💖
You see, the reason I'm here in Kettering isn't just for the tea shops (although they do have an utterly delightful afternoon tea that includes a pink meringue pie, it’s a must!) and the charming boutique shops (they have the most adorable vintage shops, oh, and a boutique selling the most beautiful silk pink tutus! A little birdie told me there’s even a secret section dedicated to the colour magenta! You’ll be pleased to hear, it was magenta-ific!), but because this little town has an impressive performance venue. 🎭
Kettering’s Theatre Royal is an absolute gem, with beautiful Victorian architecture and enough history to fill a tutu! This grand old lady is celebrating its centenary this year, which makes it the perfect stage for my show tonight! The entire place is sparkling with decorations. Even the street outside is painted pink, a true homage to your Tutu Queen!
I’m so excited about my show tonight, I can hardly tutu! (Okay, I know, I'll stop with the tutu puns soon!). It's going to be a magnificent affair with dazzling costumes, even more fabulous feather boas and my signature show-stopping routine – a grand finale that involves a rain of pink glitter and a whole lot of tutu-twirling. And the best part? The whole theatre is going to be decked out in pink and every single seat has a complimentary pink feather boa! You don’t have to wait till the finale to get some glittery action!
Now, before I go, I have to answer a question everyone keeps asking: why Kettering, Pink Tutu Sparkles? Why not a glamorous city centre? Well, darling, every pink-tutu-tastic dream has to begin somewhere. My life as Pink Tutu Sparkles has taken me to some wonderful, glittering places but starting at the humble theatre in Kettering reminds me where it all began. Plus, a performance at Kettering Theatre Royal is just as much a celebration of all things sparkly and wonderful as any of those glamorous events.
