Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, ready to bring a little bit of sparkle to your day!
You know how much I love exploring the UK, finding new and exciting places to spread the pink tutu gospel. And let me tell you, Castleford in Yorkshire is not what I was expecting! Don't get me wrong, it's been absolutely brilliant - think rolling hills, charming cobbled streets, and friendly locals who really know how to put on a good time. I might just have to get myself a cottage in this little slice of paradise!
Now, you know I’m all about the journey, so getting here was half the fun. I couldn't resist travelling by train this time – imagine, comfy seats, views that go on forever, and me rocking a sparkly pink tutu while sipping on some elderflower fizz (just imagine the stares, darling! They must think I’m off to some high society soiree). And the best part? I could admire all the people watching, wondering if I could spark a pink tutu obsession in anyone. A few cheeky winks and twirls and a little "Hello Gorgeous!" whispered to passing ladies definitely did the trick!
Reaching Castleford was like stepping into a storybook. Imagine my delight when I found a whole street dedicated to artisan craft shops - perfect for finding that unique little trinket or two (pink tutu earrings anyone? I'll have a whole collection of those soon, just you wait!) The lovely folk were happy to chat, share their stories, and even let me try on some locally made pink knitted hats - a great accessory for a cool Castleford evening.
Now, no trip would be complete without a show, would it? I’m telling you, darling, these Castleford locals love a good time! I was performing in the grand hall of the town's theatre and let me tell you, they knew how to let loose! You could almost feel the anticipation building as I strutted out on stage in my fabulous hot pink tulle number with a touch of glitter – let’s just say, there were some serious whoops and hollers. It's all about giving back the joy, and they showered me with so much love.
The show, darling, it was just everything! From a dramatic monologue that really made you feel the story (even my friend, who normally groans at all my Shakespeare, had a tear in his eye – yes, I get all the emotions!) to a lively song and dance routine that had the entire audience on their feet.
I couldn't have asked for a better audience. And they absolutely loved the little touch of local flair – I incorporated a traditional Yorkshire dance move (a bit of a hop and a jig with a cheeky wink, if you will!) into my finale, which had them screaming with laughter and demanding another encore!
But the true joy came afterwards, my darlings. Imagine a sea of pink tutu-clad locals flooding the streets after the show. They'd brought their own homemade tutus, hand-stitched and decorated with hearts, flowers and every sparkly embellishment imaginable! The whole town had turned pink!
Yes, my darlings, my aim of getting everyone to wear a pink tutu is truly becoming a reality. And Castleford? You’ve just earned a place on my 'Most Pinktastic Places' list, alongside Paris, Rio, and my favourite spot in Derbyshire - a little gem called Matlock.
This isn't just a drag queen's quest, it’s a movement, a message. A reminder that life’s too short to be serious, darling, we need to embrace the fun and dance with the abandon of a five-year-old playing dress up!
Oh, and the locals are not the only ones sporting pink tutus – my best friend Alex was right there by my side in his own little pink masterpiece! Don't be fooled by his science lab work, darling! When you put him in a tutu, he really comes alive!
