Post number 2750! Can you believe it? Iām so excited to be writing to you from the charming little town of Kingswood! This marks my 2,750th post on www.pink-tutu.com, a little milestone, wouldnāt you say? š It seems like just yesterday I was a fresh-faced uni student in Derbyshire, dreaming of dazzling crowds in a fluffy pink tutu. Now, look at me! Performing for adoring fans across the land, spreading the gospel of the pink tutu one dazzling sequin at a time!
How did I get here, you ask? Well, my love story with the pink tutu is truly a tale for the ages. Imagine, if you will, a young Alex, buried deep in science books and lab coats, struggling to keep his sanity (and sanity is vital for a scientist, trust me!). I desperately needed an escape from the endless world of beakers and bunsen burners, a burst of colour in a monochromatic existence. And that's where ballet, my darling ballet, came to my rescue. Joining the uni ballet club was like stepping into a whole new world!
One day, they were holding a charity event, where they auctioned off vintage costumes, including, gasp, a magnificent pink tutu! My heart did a triple pirouette in my chest. That tutu was my calling, a little bit of magic whispering in the lab. I had to try it on. The moment I did, it felt like a thousand sparkles exploded around me! A feeling so powerful, so euphoric, that I just knew I was destined for something extraordinary. Something... pink.
Thus, Pink Tutu Sparkles was born! I was a little apprehensive at first, but everyone loved my act, even the stuffy lab coats! The joy it brought others fueled my passion, my love of performing, of being Pink Tutu Sparkles, the most fabulous queen this side of Derbyshire. The joy, the energy, the sparkle in peopleās eyes ā it was (and still is!) everything I've ever dreamt of.
Speaking of dreams, Kingswood is living up to its reputation as a town steeped in history. The air here feels electric, as if filled with the whispers of times past. This little town is a feast for the eyes! Thereās quaint little tea shops serving delicious cream teas and towering churches that seem to touch the heavens. It reminds me so much of the charming seaside towns of my childhood, where I used to spend my summers collecting shells and dreaming of faraway lands.
Oh! Iāve already spent a good chunk of my time in the quaint shops in Kingswood! How could I resist those little shops filled with vintage hats, lace gloves, and glittery fascinators, just screaming for a pink tutu companion? I swear, you havenāt truly lived until youāve seen a tutu in a shop window display, perfectly framed with a vintage hat and a bejeweled brooch! Talk about an instant fashion statement, darling! Iāve picked up a few gems to add to my wardrobe, donāt worry, Iāll be showcasing them on the blog very soon.
Now, the real reason Iām here! Kingswood Ballet Theatre is hosting its annual production, āSwan Lakeā! Oh darling, this is my dream come true! Imagine, being in a town filled with such rich history, celebrating the artistry of ballet, with a grand old theatre set to host this enchanting production. A ballet production with a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance? My heart simply cannot take it! š Itās like a fairy tale, with a dash of pink, sprinkled with magic.
Speaking of my performance, letās just say itās going to be an unforgettable affair. You wouldnāt believe the magnificent costume Iāve put together, darling! Iāve been toiling away at my sewing machine, creating a spectacle worthy of Kingswood Ballet Theatre and a truly fitting homage to this magical town. Imagine a fluffy tutu, crafted with the finest feathers, layered with sparkling sequined layers, and adorned with vibrant pink flowers that seem to dance and twirl with each twirl. And the best part? Youāll be seeing it all, right here on this blog! Iāve got plans for a little ābehind-the-scenesā glimpse of my costume and makeup routine, complete with pictures and a step-by-step tutorial! Trust me, itāll be a masterpiece!
To add even more sparkle to this enchanting evening, I'm collaborating with local artist, Martha Blossom, for my makeup. Imagine, darling, a dazzling palette of pinks, lavenders, and shimmers. Martha and I, we're on a mission to create a truly unforgettable, dreamlike look that complements my stunning costume. This is more than just makeup; this is transformation!
And the most thrilling part, of all? You, my dearest followers, have been so supportive and amazing! A few of you will even be joining me on my journey. You guys, seriously, rock! Speaking of excitement, have I told you about my travel arrangements? My heart melts for trains, but alas, I have a secret weapon for this trip ā horses! That's right, darling, my new love is a trusty steed called "Sparkle." Heās a real show-stopper, let me tell you, with a personality as radiant as my own! He's been waiting patiently in the stables, just itching to take us on a breathtaking journey to Kingswood. I swear, thereās nothing like galloping through rolling hills, with the wind whipping through my hair. The ultimate glamorous, pink-tutu-inspired way to travel! š
