Northolt, Northolt, Northolt! - Post 2803

Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back with you on this glorious September day, ready to regale you with all the sparkly, pink-hued details of my trip to Northolt. Did I ever tell you I love a good alliteration? I must have!

Anyways, before we dive into the details, darlings, a little confession. My lovely Northolt adventure almost didn't happen. See, you know how much I adore horses, don't you? Well, I was supposed to go riding in the countryside, just me, my pink tutu (obviously) and a lovely dappled mare named Buttercup. Now, a horse-drawn carriage through the English countryside might sound utterly delightful, but let's just say it turned into a "Neigh-Say" affair. Buttercup was a bit off colour and wasn't keen on playing fairytales. sigh It was so disappointing.

But you know what, sweeties? Where there's a pink tutu, there's a way. I decided to jump on a train - after all, my drag mum always said "Pink Tutu Sparkles, embrace the chaos!" (she's wise, you know) - and Northolt here I came! And my dears, Northolt was truly the answer to my prayers. Now, Northolt itself wasn't exactly oozing with glitz and glamour, but what it lacked in glamour, it made up for in charm and opportunity, which, as you all know, is my kinda place!

My first stop? The Northolt Station, darling, and let me tell you, the place had character in spades. Brickwork that looked older than time itself, posters advertising everything from knitting classes to pigeon racing (yes, you heard me right, pigeons!). I just had to snag a few photos for Instagram, obviously. I was rocking my vintage pink tutu, paired with a cute little feather boa, all ready for the Northolt festivities.

The first thing that caught my eye? A glorious vintage shop, bursting with dusty treasures. "A queen's paradise," I muttered to myself, my heart beating like a drum solo. Now, it wasn't exactly a place to find the newest trends (unless you consider "the past" the newest trend - who knows, maybe it is!). But it was a place brimming with quirky charm and delightful curiosities. I snagged a vintage hat, perfect for my upcoming performance at the local fair, a bright pink one, naturally. Because, darling, what’s a drag queen without a collection of fabulous headwear? Just ask my beloved drag mum, she has a closet brimming with wigs and fascinators and hats that would make even a royal wedding blush!

And oh my heavens, the Northolt library. Let me tell you, dear readers, if the interior of a library could be described as "dreamy" and "sparkly" – it’s that one. A riot of colours from the bookshelves themselves, and the smell, oh, the smell! Like paper and forgotten dreams. Perfect for my afternoon of planning out my next big travel adventure - which might just involve the ballet - or at least a few hours at a dance class, after my next set of performances. Now, that sounds heavenly.

After a cuppa and a scone at the most adorable tearoom, where they had pink macarons! (They are surprisingly easy to make - you wouldn't believe how many recipes I’ve tried, I've basically mastered it at this point), it was time to hit the streets of Northolt. Let's just say, the whole town was an absolute delight. It's so charming, it's like stepping into a picture postcard, but one with more pink tutus, because I make it my personal mission to add some glitter to the world!

Speaking of sparkle, the locals! They were truly lovely - warm and friendly, a real treat. Some of them looked surprised to see a queen in pink strutting down the high street, but they all welcomed me with smiles and genuine interest. That's what I love about travel - the unexpected, the unknown. You never know what gems you might find or how people will react to you. But if there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s that kindness knows no boundaries. And frankly, darling, who doesn’t adore kindness in a tutu?

And as the sun began to set, I ended my day where any self-respecting queen in pink would, a performance! Yes, dearies, the fair in Northolt wasn’t just any ordinary fair – it was full of life and laughter and excitement. I donned my finest pink tutu – one I designed myself, naturally – and it glittered under the setting sun. You’d have thought I’d come straight off a fashion runway. The crowds roared, children shrieked with delight, and, darlings, my heart filled with joy. To see a crowd of happy faces, all dancing along to my music, was absolutely magic! And they even bought some of my handmade tutu kits! Oh my goodness, the cutest things, a pink tutu kit so every girl (and boy!) could feel like a sparkle queen. I am practically a marketing genius - did I mention my day job is testing the durability of fabric for scientific clothing? Turns out pink tutus need some sturdy materials. Who knew?

And you know what? That night, as I drifted off to sleep in my little Northolt hotel, all cozy with my little pink tutu teddy bear - who's actually a quite good dancer by the way, (all the practicing I've had, who could blame him) - I thought to myself, Northolt, Northolt, Northolt. You may not have a theatre or a ballet studio, but you have a charm that’s beyond compare, a spirit of acceptance that's truly heart-warming, and a love of a good time! Oh, and some incredible cakes – because really, that's what matters most. I simply couldn't have asked for a better time!

So my lovely, pink-tutu loving readers, I'm off again, onto the next adventure. I might try horseback riding again, though this time, with a better plan, perhaps a different horse! What will I do next? I am just as excited to see as you are. So join me again tomorrow, darling, when we'll be venturing into the unknown, in a pink tutu, of course.

Yours truly,

Pink Tutu Sparkles
