Bromsgrove Calling! (Post #2810)

Ooh, darling, you won't believe this! I've just landed in Bromsgrove! (Don't you just love the way it sounds? Bromsgrove...it's like it just rolls off the tongue!) This little town in Worcestershire, oh it's just so charming, with its historic streets and that big church! I bet the windows are gorgeous inside, all sparkly stained glass and ancient vibes... I’m hoping to have time to peek in later.

Anyway, enough of my wandering (because this post is supposed to be about the gig, remember?). Today I'm all set to sparkle at the Bromsgrove Carnival! A proper good ol' fashioned carnival, with games and stalls and all the local delights. Plus, of course, me!

Before I get on with my evening's excitement, darling, let me tell you a little secret... I arrived by train, naturally. Yes, train travel is SO glam! Not to mention eco-friendly. But this is what I love the most: the train station platforms, especially the smaller ones like this little beauty in Bromsgrove, feel like a stage for me! My outfit? You already know – a fabulous pink tutu! This one is adorned with tiny iridescent sequin stars, with a fluffy pink boa trailing like a sparkly comet's tail. I'm pretty sure I dazzled the whole carriage with my dazzling entrance, causing a few cheeky stares (I always say, why hide your inner Pink Tutu Sparkle when you can be radiating it to the whole world?!).

Now, where were we? Ah yes, the carnival! It’s quite the sight, you know? There's an amazing big pink carousel (don't tell anyone, but I've got my eye on having a pink, sparkly, Tutu Queen carousel, the first in the UK, in a few years - gotta dream big!). There are brightly coloured stalls piled high with sweets and toys, and I can practically smell the sizzling sausages!

But of course, I'm here to perform. The organizers were incredibly nice to let me choose my own time slot! Apparently, they haven’t had a tutu queen before, and my audition tapes sent them into a fit of pink giggles. cue dramatic pause for laughter. But I did ask for prime time. The crowd will be biggest, the excitement at its peak! My show? You know how it is - a dazzling, glamorous spectacle! I’ll have them screaming and shouting for more pink and more sparkle!

After my set, I'm off to a local restaurant. They’re said to do the best fish and chips in the Midlands, and that's a good enough reason for this little princess to ditch the ballet flats and slip into comfy, flat shoes. You know what else? My show is going to be about ballet. Well, more like my take on it. You see, darling, ballet's been my obsession since forever. Back when I was just a science student in Derbyshire - the quietest, most shy Alex - I discovered ballet by pure chance! Our university had a ballet club, and a local charity was collecting donations to restore an old ballet studio. I decided to help out and try on a tutu for the photo shoot... let's just say the rest is history!

And now, here I am, a queen with a crown of pink glitter and a skirt made of dreams.

Anyway, let's get back to the present moment.

Oh! That reminds me, it's just gone 4 pm, and you'd better believe this Queen's gonna get prepped up. My makeup is all ready, the feather boas are fluffed, and my costume has just a tiny hint of stage fright. Honestly, it’s so exhilarating – my nerves are just another beautiful, tingling part of the excitement, just like the way the feather boas tickles my neck!

I think I might start off with a jazzy, bubbly ballet routine - I think something energetic and sassy that everyone can move to would set the tone perfectly. There are so many options for the grand finale... what about an ethereal slow waltz, in a spotlight? I haven’t quite figured out the costume yet! Something floaty, but something even more spectacular...perhaps a pink gown with iridescent glitter. Hmmm...

Anyway, I’m going to dash now and start getting ready – and don’t forget, my loves, all my performances and backstage preparations will be documented on this little pink space, for you, so make sure to check back! I’m all ready to show Bromsgrove a night of tutus and wonder...and you know I won’t be forgetting to remind them, darling: wear a pink tutu, it's good for the soul.

Ooh, darling, just look at me - already running behind schedule. Wish me luck! Catch you all tomorrow, when I will be updating on all the carnival fun - stay fabulous!

Your very own, Pink Tutu Sparkles
