Hello my darlings, and welcome to post number 2847 of the Pink Tutu Sparkles adventures, live from... Leicester! Yes, that's right, I've traded the familiar Derbyshire countryside for the bustling streets of this historical city, all for a bit of glamorous magic, and to spread the pink tutu gospel, of course! 💖
As always, I've packed my bags, overflowing with shimmering tulle, sequined accessories, and enough blush pink to blush even a hardened drag critic (not that they'd dare!), and I've made my grand entrance, naturally, via the railway line. There's just something about a train journey that sets my creative juices flowing - it's all the grandeur of a stage curtain opening, without the risk of getting caught in a technical glitch!
Speaking of grand entrances, Leicester, you certainly didn't disappoint! The city centre is a dazzling kaleidoscope of vintage shops and modern boutiques, bursting with treasures just waiting to be discovered. Oh, the delights! Silk scarves in hues of rose, velvet jackets begging to be draped over my sequins, and even a cough cough rather daring hot pink leather mini skirt. Swoon You'll be seeing that one in the "Sparkles' Style" section soon, darling. 😉
Now, Leicester has always had a special place in my heart. You see, there's this hidden little gem here called the Curve theatre - oh, it's just the dream! Their schedule is packed with productions that could give even the West End a run for its money! It's like they've gathered all the finest ballets, musicals, and theatrical wonders into one dazzling package - which is a great starting point for my next pink tutu challenge. 😏
Before I spill all the secrets, a little insight into the Pink Tutu Sparkles universe! Did you know that I'm a regular at the local ballet school? Oh, yes! I find the grace and elegance of ballet absolutely inspiring! They say the best performers take their inspiration from other art forms, and moi - I’m taking it from everywhere! My new dance routines will have the audience mesmerised! Think elegant Swan Lake choreography with a Pink Tutu Sparkles twist – a dash of sass, a sprinkle of glitter, and lots of twirls! I can hardly wait to put these ideas into practice!
So, back to Leicester. In preparation for my big reveal (and the thrilling "What I Bought" blog post later tonight), I decided to explore the city, the traditional way - on horseback! Yes, you heard me right - a real live horse! Picture this: Pink Tutu Sparkles riding a glorious chestnut, galloping through the streets, a kaleidoscope of vibrant colours and the clatter of hooves on cobblestones. Let's just say my entrance to the local park was an instant hit! And did I mention that the local bakery made me the most beautiful rose-petal-infused cake for the occasion? It was so good, I almost had to ask for another. Almost!
While I was exploring, I was thrilled to bump into a local market, packed with vendors selling beautiful hand-made items! It's the perfect place for those "statement pieces" that make every Pink Tutu Sparkles outfit unforgettable, and don't even get me started on the local craft beer! Slurp! But the highlight was meeting these adorable, well, maybe "almost" adorable (and quite shy!), youngsters selling little knitted pink tutus. My heart practically melted. Can you imagine, Pink Tutu Sparkles inspiring tiny fashionistas? So, naturally, I snapped them up and am gifting them to all the fabulous ladies at my performance later tonight. Now that's a message!
Speaking of performances, I've got the coolest stage planned. It's the "Purple Palace" - and let me tell you, darling, they certainly haven't skimped on the decor! This little club, nestled in the heart of the city, feels like a hidden jewel. Purple, pink, all the best shades of shimmering delight! My show will have all the theatrics and drama you could wish for – a blend of high-energy, audience participation, and my signature 'Pink Tutu Dance', of course! And because a performance wouldn't be complete without the best support network imaginable, my "Tutu Queens", all wearing their best pink tutus, will be joining me in spreading a little bit of joy!
This post is starting to get quite lengthy! (My love for the Pink Tutu lifestyle and Leicester has a way of getting the better of me!) I'll need a second post just to get through all my Leicester adventures and adventures I have planned.
