Hammersmith Calling! Post #2893 - Tutu-tastic Adventures

Ooh, hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another delightful dose of dazzling adventure! Today, we're taking a twirl all the way to Hammersmith! You know me, always seeking out new experiences and shimmering under the spotlight, and today, my darlings, the stage is calling.

So, let me tell you all about my journey to Hammersmith! A grand adventure in itself!

My trip began like most: a steaming cup of pink grapefruit tea and a carefully curated ensemble featuring my latest tulle creation. This time, it's a majestic layered tutu of pale pink, adorned with a delicate trail of glitter and a custom-made satin ribbon flowing in the breeze. It's like a ballet dream come to life!

Now, there are few things more charming than a train journey in the early morning. You get to watch the world slowly wake up, observe all the wonderful personalities on the train, and most importantly, indulge in the magic of a quiet moment with my favourite magazines: Vogue, Tatler, and of course, The Pink Tutu Gazette. Yes, darlings, I write a column, sharing tips for all things tutu!

After a pleasant journey through rolling Derbyshire countryside (don't you just love the view from a train window!), we arrived at Hammersmith station. And darling, let me tell you, it's absolutely divine! A bustling hub with beautiful architecture and vibrant energy, I can see why Hammersmith attracts artists from all over! I even found the sweetest little shop tucked away, filled with gorgeous handcrafted jewelry and vintage clothing. Talk about a girl's paradise!

The performance itself was an absolute delight! It's always a pleasure to share my joy and passion for performance with the Hammersmith crowd. Their energy was infectious, their cheers loud, and their smiles dazzling! After all, there's nothing like performing on stage, seeing the lights, the smoke, the audience! My pink tutus shimmered under the spotlights, reflecting a million tiny lights, and the audience were truly captivated. We even did a spontaneous sing-a-long, it was truly heartwarming.

After the show, I enjoyed a wonderful time at the after-party. My, how everyone in Hammersmith can dance! I think I even discovered my new favourite bar with an incredible gin cocktail that was served with a sprinkle of pink shimmery sugar, and a cute bartender named Frankie, who promised me his recipe next time. Of course, there's nothing more delightful than catching up with old friends, sharing anecdotes, laughing until our cheeks hurt and generally having a right good time! And naturally, the best part was finding someone with an equally big love of all things pink. He even told me I looked fantastic in my tutu. Honestly, these Hammersmith chaps, just so darn charming!

Oh! I nearly forgot, this week's adventure in Hammersmith was made extra special by a visit from a little angel named Molly, who was celebrating her birthday with a pink tutu-themed party! We had a tutu making contest (Molly's masterpiece, featuring hand-sewn flowers, was the winner!) and a mini performance. Seeing a little one's eyes light up at the magic of tutus, well, there's no feeling quite like it, darlings! I think Molly even managed to persuade her mum to join the tutu party!

Now, speaking of pink tutus, remember that mission of mine to encourage everyone to embrace the magic of a twirl? I have great news, darlings! My very own "Tutu Tuesday" event in the city centre went absolutely wild! You should have seen the smiles, the joy, the sparkle! People of all shapes and sizes, even the shy ones (some with even bolder, multicoloured, rainbow tutus than I could imagine!) all twirling and dancing together. It truly warmed my pink heart. The air buzzed with a contagious love of everything tutu! You see, my dear friends, the joy of a twirl knows no bounds. We need more tutus, and more pink tutus in the world, yes indeed! Because, let's face it, we could all use a little more whimsy in our lives! Don't forget, my friends, the magic of a tutu starts with a twirl and a dash of imagination!

Until next time, keep your spirits high and your tutus at the ready, because your beloved Pink Tutu Sparkles is always looking for more adventure.

With shimmering love, Pink Tutu Sparkles x

A Day In the Life Of a Tutu Queen:

Now, dear friends, while my blog always spotlights my glittery drag queen life, I thought I'd share a peek behind the curtain to show you what the everyday Alex, or โ€œDr Alex,โ€ as I sometimes get called, gets up to.

This everyday Alex, by the way, loves her morning routine, a simple one, that gives her a sense of grounding. Up at 6.30am, always with a spot of yoga followed by a brisk walk in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside (often while listening to podcasts, anything from nature documentaries to pop music really). After, of course, thereโ€™s the inevitable latte and a healthy breakfast (sometimes pink, sometimes not, you know me! )

Then itโ€™s back home for a quick shower, and back into a more... scientific world. I have this cool lab job (nothing flashy, but I really enjoy it, really!) that means I'm a bit like a fashion detective. I spend my days testing all sorts of fabrics, looking at their colours, textures, strengths and, most importantly, seeing how they stand up to being twirled around on the dance floor! Honestly, there's so much science that goes into tutu making! Who knew!

The evening is all about preparing for the magic. You can find me at home, either prepping a new look with the glitter and feathers, learning new routines ( I am forever expanding my repertoire, darlings!) or sketching new designs for a tutu collection. This tutu collection is an idea I'm bubbling over with! The whole idea of giving people of all ages the confidence to twirl their way through life, well, it fills me with joy!

I'm always trying to find that perfect blend of sparkle, practicality and pink, which is why I spend quite a lot of time doing fabric research and testing those tutu ideas I have in mind, always experimenting, creating, pushing the boundaries, but still always sticking to those three rules: sparkle, practicality and a dash of pink.

I've often wondered how these two sides of myself fit together: Dr Alex, a humble scientist, and Pink Tutu Sparkles, the glitter queen, and I have realised, it's the connection, it's about creating. Dr Alex is focused on the details of fabrics and science, and Pink Tutu Sparkles, the detail of the performance and finding ways to add those magical elements to the designs. It all just blends in beautifully and somehow adds up to my own, special blend of twirl-worthy confidence.

There's no one size fits all in life, or when it comes to choosing your fabrics.

And hey, why not be bold and twirl your own path? Let's create more beautiful experiences with those who believe that life is better in pink!
