Scunthorpe Sparkle! Pink Tutu Adventures, Blog Post #2913

Hello, my darling dears! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, sequin-loving queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another glamorous blog post, straight from the heart of… well, Scunthorpe! Yes, you heard that right, Scunthorpe! Now, before you start picturing some dreary industrial wasteland, let me tell you, my darlings, Scunthorpe is a gem! It’s like a little diamond waiting to be discovered! 😉

Firstly, the train journey! Absolutely magical, I tell you. It was one of those old-fashioned, carriagey trains, all dark wood and plush velvet seats. And you know what? It's the perfect environment for channeling your inner queen. The gentle sway of the train, the rhythm of the wheels on the tracks – pure, unadulterated, diva inspiration! It truly transported me. I was so transported that, during my performance, I accidentally said "hello Scunthorpe, hello Huddersfield!". 😂 (It was one of those nights where I truly became one with my tutu)

Anyway, about Scunthorpe itself. It’s definitely got a charm that you can’t deny! It was so lovely. The venue was a traditional little theatre, and they'd gone all out with the decorations – pink, of course, it had to be pink! My fabulous dressing room was even filled with a mountain of fluffy, glittery, pink pom-poms, enough to give even the most seasoned drag queen a touch of happy! (You see how I incorporate the color pink into EVERYTHING). You really can't imagine what a magical wonderland I felt myself surrounded by, truly the stuff of dreams!

As soon as I hit the stage, it was all about channeling my inner Tutu Queen, giving those Scunthorpe folks a performance to remember! Oh my heavens, those faces were pure joy! They were loving every glittery, twirly, flamboyant minute of it! I did all my favourite bits - "My Pink Dream," where I have a magical outfit change (that's actually not so magical in reality. A team of dressers help in the wings) and my dramatic finale with a hundred glittering, sequined, pink feathers erupting from a gigantic, glittery pink piñata! (that's real. no hidden help, and sometimes feathers do fall off of me throughout the night and are hard to find. I hope that little gem helps for my non-stage folk!). You’d think people in Scunthorpe would be tired of sequins by now. But noooo, they were on their feet, screaming and cheering, just like the rest of my audience on my whirlwind tour of the UK! (I also did this amazing interpretive ballet piece involving the word Scunthorpe. The only time in my drag career that's been hard to get funding.)

You know, the best part about travelling, though, is meeting all the fabulous, fabulous people along the way. Scunthorpe definitely didn't disappoint. There were so many wonderful faces out in the audience! One little girl came up to me afterwards, all wide-eyed and giggling. I think she had to be under five, so it really meant something special that she got all excited for a lady in a pink tutu. She even wanted to try my tiara on. Adorable!

Now, let me tell you, when a little girl, dressed in a lovely green dress with a flowery print, gets excited for a woman in a sparkly pink tutu, it truly melts this scientist-by-day, drag-queen-by-night’s heart. This, you guys, is what I live for! I think I can confidently say that the message I always try to give in my shows is one of loving who you are, wearing whatever makes you happy, and believing in your own special magic.

If you’ve ever felt self-conscious or unsure of yourself, my darlings, this little tutu queen wants you to know, that there is power and joy in being yourself! That little girl? She didn’t even blink at seeing someone outside the norm. And in my opinion, we could learn a lot from children! That innocence, that unapologetic, unfiltered way they embrace the world, we can always do with more of that, can’t we?

As always, darling dears, I leave you with a final thought! If you haven't worn a pink tutu yet, well... what are you waiting for? Take a chance on a bit of fabulousness! Embrace the sparkly pink and unleash your inner diva! I’ve been working on new designs so there's a pink tutu for every mood - with rainbows, polka dots, bows, sparkly stars... You know, if you want, even glitter that reads, "Scunthorpe Sparkle". ;)

Until next time, love and sparkly kisses,

Pink Tutu Sparkles 💋 💖

P.S. (I've just seen my next booking! We're going to Blackpool! You see how much this scientist travels!) I am off on another glorious adventure! Can you guess which train I'll be taking to Blackpool? Hint: It's not just about speed, you've got to look the part. 😉 You can always find more information on my socials - I am PinkTutuSparkles everywhere and more links on my website.
