Barrow-in-Furness: A Tutu-tastic Adventure!

Blog Post #2966

Oh, darling! My little pink-tutu-clad heart is absolutely bursting with excitement as I sit here on the train, gazing out the window at the rolling countryside, my mind filled with images of my grand performance in Barrow-in-Furness! This trip has been absolutely divine.

It's a lovely thing, this travelling by train. As I whizzed through the countryside, past quaint little villages and fields ablaze with wintery greenery, I couldn't help but let my mind wander. This little jaunt up north took me back to my days in the university ballet club. Remember, darlings, that's where my love affair with the tutu began! It all started with a charity event. A little pink, a lot of sparkle, and I was hooked.

Speaking of sparkle, just wait until you hear about my outfit for the Barrow-in-Furness gig. My talented tailor, bless his heart, crafted a dazzling tutu from layers of tulle in a beautiful bubblegum pink. I had to add a generous amount of hand-sewn glitter, of course! I topped it off with a shimmery pink feather boa and a custom-designed crop top, featuring shimmering silver sequins that caught the light like a thousand twinkling stars.

I know what you’re thinking – "Pink Tutu Sparkles is wearing pink again? What a shocker!" Well, you see, it's more than just a colour, darlings. Pink is a statement! It's a celebration of femininity, a declaration of love for the delicate and the whimsical. It’s the very embodiment of my drag persona! Besides, pink simply brings out the sparkle in my eyes, don’t you think?

Now, as the train rumbles on, I'm picturing the faces of my Barrow-in-Furness audience. They will be absolutely mesmerized! This performance is set to be a dazzling affair. It’s a magical blend of ballet street dance and high-kicking musical theatre goodness. Imagine twirling tutus, dynamic leaps, and sassy struts, all wrapped up in a sprinkle of sassy glitter! I just can’t wait to let my creative energy flow and share the magic of Pink Tutu Sparkles with my devoted audience.

It’s a little odd being out of London for a while. My usual home away from home, my gorgeous little one-bedroom flat in Soho, has had to play host to the occasional visiting performer while I’ve been on tour, much to the delight of the flat’s furry resident, a little Yorkshire terrier called Pepper! Pepper always greets me on my return, bouncing all over the place. You could say that we have a bit of a 'dynamic duo’ routine – she gets to show me that my feet have truly made it back to the flat again by showering me with a barrage of delighted ‘yappy kisses.’

This Barrow-in-Furness performance is, of course, only one stop on my busy tour schedule. The life of a drag artist isn’t for the faint of heart, darling. There’s constant travelling and long hours rehearsing in between shows. But don’t get me wrong – I wouldn’t trade this life for anything! Each gig is an incredible opportunity to share my love of all things glitzy, sparkly, and spectacular!

Just recently, I’ve been spending lots of time at rehearsals with some of the girls, planning and creating a fantastic new cabaret piece for next month's Pride celebration. The other girls, a diverse mix of vibrant personalities all dedicated to bringing the sparkle to the stage, were a bit apprehensive about adding an entire act in tutus. They called it “Too feminine, even for us!”. But they came around in the end and even got a little competitive about who could pick the best pink. I was particularly happy when, much to the girls’ chagrin, my idea of a troupe of eight tutu-clad women in vibrant hot pink took the day!

Remember, my darling, pink isn’t just a color, it's an attitude. It's the attitude of confidence, of self-expression, and of letting your inner sparkle shine! I want to inspire people to step outside their comfort zones, to embrace the magic of self-expression and embrace the power of a fabulous tutu!

After all, why just walk, darling, when you can twirl?

It was actually a trip on the train up to a performance at a very chic charity event in York a few weeks back that inspired the hot pink tutu troupe. I took my inspiration from the ladies who were traveling on the same carriage as I. I saw two women in elegant suits. And even in the midst of a busy commute to work, both had stopped at a florist’s on the station, arriving at the carriage with elegant, scented bouquets. They were two of the most confidently chic women I have ever met and I wanted to capture the feeling they created in an outfit, not just a color scheme. They brought me to pink. To a vibrant hot pink. The colour, I decided, should reflect their confidence and their desire to stand out from the crowd in such a simple yet beautiful way, their personality coming across with their small yet impactful statement. The bright pink flowers were such a vivid contrast to their professional outfits that, in combination, they really stood out. The flowers became the spark of an idea in the depths of my imaginative mind, leading me down the winding road to create this fabulous troupe.

I am on a mission, darling. I want everyone to discover the power of the pink tutu. It’s more than just a costume, it’s a symbol of individuality and a celebration of everything fabulous! This little pink tutu, my darling, is a beacon of joy, reminding me that the world is a more magical place with a little sprinkle of sparkle! And with a twirl, and a twirl… we all know there's a touch of magic to be found in every tutu!

Don't forget to keep up with my adventures on my website! www.pink-tutu.com - I can’t wait to hear your stories about embracing your own sparkle!

Love always,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
