Folkestone Sparkle: Post 2973

Hello darlings! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkle, back from a dazzling day trip to the seaside town of Folkestone!

Oh, darling, let me tell you, I'm just brimming with excitement after my latest adventure. Folkestone, what a gem! This town is charming, right from the moment you step off the train and inhale the salty sea air.

I travelled down in style, of course. Took a little jaunt on the train, a fabulous red one! And trust me, I was the pinkest thing on board - rocking my custom-made pink tutu with the new matching pink feather boa. Everyone on that carriage had their eyes on this Queen! And did I tell you about my little handbag? My friend, Fiona, hand-stitched a miniature version of the larger version of my fabulous feather boa, just big enough for a little lippy and a compact mirror, darling! Oh, how I adore a good pink accessorising.

Upon arriving, I checked into the most divine B&B - The Pink Flamingo. Yes, I'm serious! Talk about serendipitous, it was a true sign I was meant to be here.

And now for the highlights of my day... I found the most enchanting vintage shop called "The Tutu Fairy." Now, it wasn't selling actual tutus (alas, though that would be a dream!), but it had the most gorgeous collection of vintage garments and accessories, and darling, they had the most beautiful pastel pinks you ever did see! Imagine my delight when I found a silk pink scarf and a vintage handbag - it's like something right out of a movie! I couldn't resist! They will definitely be adding some fabulous flair to my future shows, my dears.

Next, I was drawn to the allure of the harbour. Just walking by the boats with the smell of salty sea air was utterly magical. The town felt incredibly historic and steeped in charm. We found the best fish and chip shop (always a must when near the sea), and it felt as though we had stepped right back in time, complete with the cheery chatter and aroma of fried fish.

Speaking of stepping back in time, you see, I couldn't leave Folkestone without taking in a performance by the Folkestone Ballet Company. Imagine, ballet dancers pirouetteing in their beautiful white tutus. I was absolutely mesmerised, my dears! The energy of the dance was pure, and the grace, simply divine. They weren't dancing in pink, darling, but they were truly embodying the spirit of movement, elegance, and of course, beauty. It filled me with so much inspiration! I know I need to incorporate a little bit of that flowing, elegant grace into my performance. Perhaps, a pink Tutu ballerina move? Or even a "sparkle" in a twirl? Hmm, ideas, ideas.

My next stop, as a proper Pink Tutu queen should be, was of course, the theatre. Folkestone has a charming little local theatre, full of charm, which is hosting the annual "Pink Flamingo Festival". That, darling, is just a tiny little coincidence! You just can't get away from Pink in this town!

I was delighted to discover this little theatre has been home to performances for almost a hundred years. And it’s currently running a fantastic local talent showcase, featuring the very best of Folkestone’s talent – a dance troop called ‘The Tutu-tiful Troup’ with several lovely young dancers all wearing... dramatic pause … yes you guessed it - pink tutus! The show included such amazing pieces, darling - everything from jazz, to street, to contemporary - they even included a little bit of traditional ballet! This little troupe is destined for bigger things, darling, they are full of talent, sparkle and energy! I saw a lot of the "Pink Tutu Sparkles" potential in these ladies.

The show ended with a delightful ballet about a beautiful pink flamingo in a garden full of bright pinks, reds and oranges. It was truly a magnificent spectacle! The way they expressed themselves with their bodies and their movements! Absolutely enchanting, and I left feeling inspired and full of sparkle, of course! They all came over afterwards to say hello and ask about how I designed my stage looks!

After all this theatre fun, darling, I felt ready to enjoy the finer things in life, so I treated myself to some afternoon tea at the cutest little tea shop. Imagine, a beautifully delicate teapot nestled within a gorgeous pink and silver tiered cake stand with miniature, adorable, little cakes – perfect for a Pink Tutu Queen to indulge. The perfect way to finish off a truly memorable afternoon in this truly fabulous, charming town!

Oh darling, if you want to enjoy a truly dazzling day trip, I highly recommend Folkestone. It's not your typical big city adventure, darling, but its charm and the beauty of the surroundings are sure to capture your heart.

This is your Pink Tutu Sparkle, reminding you: the only thing that's better than wearing a pink tutu is sharing the pink tutu spirit! Let's paint the world pink!
