Llanelli: Tutu Dreams in the Welsh Wind! (Blog Post #3026)

Hello my lovely Tutu Angels! It’s your Pink Tutu Sparkles, ready to shimmy into another fabulous adventure, and this time, we’re taking the train right down to Llanelli! Now, you know how much I love a good journey, and what’s better than a train ride with a view? Nothing, darling, nothing!

So, after a delicious cup of tea and a slice of my Mum's famous Victoria sponge, I packed my sparkly pink luggage and off we went. It was a longish journey, but honestly, I spent most of the time admiring the scenery. You know me, a good view always gets me in the mood for a fabulous fashion moment! And boy, did Llanelli deliver!

I’ve got to say, I felt like a total princess as we arrived in Llanelli station, the sunshine dancing on the rails like a welcoming spotlight. The air had a fresh, almost salty quality, and I knew instantly that this was going to be a memorable trip!

But, let’s rewind a bit, shall we? Remember when I told you about my quest to get the world wearing pink tutus? Well, my journey started with my day job - working as a scientist in a textile lab. I mean, come on! I'm testing fabric - I can tell a silk from a satin blindfolded! And you know what's even more glamorous than science? Fabric in all the colours of the rainbow, including, naturally, the most magnificent pink! It all clicked into place one day when I saw this giant pink tutu during a charity event for the university ballet club (which I, of course, am a proud member of - a pink tutu-wearing, ballerina queen!).

One peek at the billowing layers of tulle, and I was lost. Gone were the test tubes and microscopes. Instead, all I saw was the swirling world of tutus and glitter, and a life filled with feathers and sequins. The rest, as they say, is tutu history! And since then, every day has been an adventure, a giant pink party that I’m absolutely thrilled to be the centre of.

Back in Llanelli now, I was completely mesmerized by the architecture, those quaint Victorian terraces bathed in a warm, honeyed light. It just felt like stepping into a fairytale, especially with the pastel colours everywhere! Even the little tea shops and independent boutiques had that certain charming vintage vibe that just begs to be explored.

And explore I did! After grabbing a quick cup of tea (I do have my limits even when on a quest for the perfect tutu), I went on a mission to find some delightful local finds. I found a fantastic little boutique with all sorts of vintage dresses and quirky accessories, perfect for adding that extra splash of glamour to any outfit. I also managed to snag some gorgeous handmade earrings made by a local artist, which, of course, I couldn’t leave behind!

Then came the main event: my show at the beautiful Llanelli Theatre. Talk about a stage with history! It was truly magnificent, with its high ceilings and velvet curtains. And my darling, the audience was just as wonderful, so warm and enthusiastic!

Speaking of the show, it was truly a magical affair. With all that fabulous choreography, a costume so dramatic it could give the Queen herself a run for her money, and the energy of the crowd, it was pure magic! And wouldn't you know it, even with all the chaos and glitter, I managed to find some time to squeeze in a quick ballet lesson at the local dance academy. I mean, it's practically illegal to travel anywhere without at least a little pirouette, wouldn’t you agree?

Let's just say Llanelli was a revelation. I had a feeling it would be brilliant, but it even surpassed my expectations. You know how I feel about a good walk on the promenade, so I made sure to explore the gorgeous coastline. Just me, the sea, the pink sky, and the most perfect shade of pastel pink, just like my favourite tulle.

As the sun began to dip down over the sea, turning the sky a fiery red and orange, I couldn’t help but think about how much fun this whole journey has been. Llanelli will hold a special place in my heart – it’s full of charm and kindness, with a real sense of community. Plus, I was treated to some incredible local treats! We’re talking a traditional Welsh cakes for breakfast, freshly baked sourdough bread for lunch, and even an extra-special dessert of welshcakes and vanilla ice cream to celebrate my show! (Honestly, how does anyone make such amazing treats? Maybe it's magic, perhaps, but that's a mystery I'm ready to solve!).

So, my darlings, Llanelli, I bid you farewell, for now. But you can be sure I'll be back for more of those incredible welshcakes. Remember, everyone, let’s spread the joy of pink tutus everywhere we go, whether it’s in our hometown or somewhere brand new!

Love and sparkles, Your Pink Tutu Sparkles.
