Darlings! Itās your favourite pink tutu wearing drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back again with another delightful diary entry for you. Iām currently ensconced in the charming town of Longton, my latest adventure bringing me to this lovely place.
Let me tell you, the journey was a blast! A journey by train, naturally ā that glorious rumble and rhythm of the wheels on the tracks, the view of the English countryside flying by... utterly delightful! Thereās something so freeing about travelling by train.
As for Longton itself, it's utterly captivating! Such a delightful mix of old and new, traditional cobbled streets meeting the hustle and bustle of modern life. And the people ā they're absolutely lovely, all smiles and friendly banter. Itās a stark contrast to the sometimes rather dour folks you encounter in Derbyshire ā no offence to my home county!
Speaking of which, how have you all been? I was telling the lovely people here about my recent ballet class. Yes, you know me ā still working on my pliĆ©s and arabesques ā my secret goal of becoming a professional ballet dancer might be a little far fetched, but darling, you never know! You'll be able to spot me twirling across the stage any minute nowā¦ perhaps!
Oh! I must tell you all about my shopping spree earlier today ā I'm obsessed with finding fabulous new fabrics. And by āfabricsā, darlings, you know what I meanā¦ I meanā¦ the most wonderfully extravagant material! Itās quite frankly ridiculous, I was like a kid in a candy shop! Silk, satin, taffetaā¦ I could barely resist! I found a lovely little shop tucked away in the backstreets - "The Dressmaker's Dream", they called it. Absolutely heavenly. But you see, the hunt for the perfect material is just part of the thrill for a drag queen. Itās a journey of creation, the āAh ha! Moment!ā, as my dear, dear mother would say, finding the perfect outfit for your next show is quite frankly the ultimate buzz, the āSparklesā moment ā if you will. Itās something you just have to experience, darling.
So back to the show this weekendā¦ the venue in Longton is just divine! It's called The Rose Theatre and looks absolutely beautiful. It's like a miniature palace from the inside, full of charm, even if I do say so myself! Thereās something truly magical about performing on stage, you feel the electricity and you just want to give it your all, you want to bring joy to the crowd, bring a bit of colour into their world, that's why we do what we do.
But, before all that glitz and glamour ā the makeup, the costume changes, the backstage madness - I had to check out this townās latest fashion offerings. Now, I wouldnāt usually do that in public but my darling friends and loyal followers all know my addiction to fashion, particularly vintage and charity shops, and whatās moreā¦ I'm a stickler for detailsā¦ every detail, from head to toe!
Longton is truly an eclectic town, full of quirky little shops and independent businesses, the sort of place where you could easily get lost in the exploration.
So what are you all waiting for? I urge you all to venture to Longtonā¦ even just for a day trip ā itās so utterly delightful, full of surprises, a little like life, itself, you never know what you will discover next! And trust meā¦ there are a few surprises waiting for you, in Longtonā¦ including this glamour puss performing on stage, myself, of course.
And donāt forget, I have one big aim in life... to get everyone in the world wearing pink tutus! Who wouldnāt want to show off their best moves with such an extraordinary and joyous fashion accessory? Come on everyone, wear a pink tutu. It's time to unleash your inner sparkle!
