Wellington, My Darling! Pink Tutu Travels Blog - Post 3087

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-twirling drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another exciting post from my travels! This time, I've found myself in Wellington, a little gem of a city that's certainly got a certain... spark! (Okay, I can't help but think that's a play on words for my stage name, I am a bit of a ham, aren't I?)

Anyway, the journey itself was a dream. We're talking a journey that started with a cheeky gallop through the English countryside - can't go too far without the horse! Then, it was onwards to the train station. There's just something so magical about taking the train, especially when you're wearing a fabulous pink tutu that makes heads turn and hearts melt. (Although, I do get a few curious stares when I'm changing into the full Sparkles get-up in the carriage loo… whoops!)

The moment I arrived in Wellington, I felt this incredible energy buzzing. I'm talking sunshine, a touch of the sea breeze, and enough pink to make my little sparkly heart do a backflip! It's amazing how colour just speaks to you sometimes. I even saw a little cafe called 'The Pink Tutu', could this be fate?

Wellington, you see, was calling me to tap into my inner dancer! The city is brimming with fantastic performance spaces, not just your traditional theatres, but outdoor stages too, tucked away in charming gardens and even a grand park (can you believe, right next to the zoo!). There's so much happening in terms of ballet and performance arts here, and of course, I'm taking advantage of it all! I was lucky enough to nab a last-minute ticket to see a local production of Swan Lake, which I must tell you, left me absolutely speechless! It’s incredible the way people can express such intense emotion through just movement and a little bit of fancy dress (I’m not saying tutu dress here, though I do admire how they wear them onstage).

And then there are the classes! It turns out Wellington is a haven for ballet enthusiasts. I’m so thrilled I could find a 'Pink Tutu Ballet' studio right in the centre of town - (see, fate loves me!). I've been whipping up a little dance storm and even picking up a few new moves (thank goodness they haven't got the no-phone-policy, I just had to post that adorable 'Swan Lake' selfie with my fellow ballet bunnies - a new look, by the way, a lovely fluffy pink fluffy top with a long white tutu – it fits just right!)

It’s not all tutus and twirls, of course! Wellington is a shopper’s paradise. Oh my, there are so many beautiful vintage boutiques, filled with vintage glamour and an abundance of sequins (which, in case you didn't know, goes perfectly with pink). I've been busy picking up some fantastic little bits for my drag wardrobe and, let me tell you, the outfits I'm going to make with this fabric, it'll be pure magic! (It just takes one little trip, sometimes, for some inspiration and you just know in your bones that it will be fabulous.)

What's even better is that I’ve discovered that the Wellington people are simply lovely! (Even if they were a bit puzzled to see me sashay through their charming markets in a pink tutu and a glittery top – I swear it looked like I’d walked straight off a film set). But don’t get me wrong, it was great. People are friendly, warm and, (brace yourselves because this might sound corny) just… well, just very sparkling.

And as if this city couldn’t get any more perfect, they have a massive vintage horse-drawn carriage, oh the joys! I must be taking a ride, you know, for my next post of course, as a homage to my favourite mode of transport!

My stay in Wellington has already left me brimming with so much love and inspiration. The beauty of this city is that it celebrates its personality and energy with open arms. They even have this adorable pink sculpture in one of the parks. And who knows what new experiences and fabulousness await? Maybe even a performance by yours truly at one of the many vibrant theatre venues. Who knows what dreams await in Wellington?

Keep sparkling my darlings!

Until next time,

Pink Tutu Sparkles.
