Coventry Calling: Tutu Queen Takes on the Midlands!

Blog Post #3107

Hello, my darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-tastic Queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from the vibrant streets of Coventry! You know how much I adore a good travel adventure, and this week's trip took me right back to my roots, embracing the charm of the Midlands with a splash of pink, of course.

Now, I know what you're thinking - Coventry? Doesn't exactly scream "Pink Tutu Paradise," does it? Well, hold on to your feather boas, darlings, because you'd be surprised! This historical city is brimming with hidden gems, a delightful blend of old and new, and I'm here to tell you, Coventry was more than ready to be tutu-fied.

My journey began in the heart of Derbyshire, where I'm originally from. It's a bit of a journey, but a trip on the train always fills me with a sense of excitement, especially when I can wear my latest tutu ensemble (it was a glorious lilac affair with shimmering sequins, just imagine!). I boarded a plush carriage adorned with fluffy pillows, and spent my time sipping Earl Grey tea and planning my upcoming performances, and of course, checking the weather forecast - I'd rather die than get my tutu dampened by unexpected rain!

Speaking of tutus, my mission in Coventry was, as always, to bring a touch of sparkly magic wherever I went. I had performances lined up at the fabulous Coventry Hippodrome, a grand old theatre with an electric energy that simply crackled!

Before the show, I popped by the Coventry Market, where I discovered an array of treasures that screamed “TutuQueen” at me! From vintage hats (a feather boa must-have, darling!) to colourful fabrics for potential future costume creations, this market is a must-visit for any aspiring draq queen. I picked up the most amazing pair of neon pink sunglasses – they just completed my look!

But it wasn’t just about shopping! One of the things I loved about Coventry is its beautiful history. It’s a city brimming with ancient architecture, with St. Mary's Guildhall captivating me with its intricate carvings. I took a photo with the beautiful gothic clock tower (after taking a quick peek at the clock face, you know I am never late, darlings!).

My show at the Hippodrome was a blast! The audience was incredibly enthusiastic, and my dazzling, glittery performances went down a storm. Even though I usually love the theatre, it’s sometimes nice to get back to my roots - the venue had this authentically classic vibe that took me right back to the old theatre venues of my youth!

The best part, however, was seeing the sheer joy on everyone's faces when they saw me strutting across the stage in my sparkly pink tutu. My performance was about inclusivity and spreading love and positivity, reminding everyone that even a little bit of sparkle can light up even the dullest day!

My adventures in Coventry weren’t all glitter and rainbows, of course. There were some truly hilarious moments, like the time I tried to hail a taxi (yes, my usual horse-drawn carriage wasn't an option!) and accidentally walked into a shop, giggling uncontrollably, completely bewildered. But those moments just made the whole trip even more memorable!

The food was fab too, dearies! We indulged in classic British fish and chips (don’t you just love the vinegar?!), and I discovered a charming little cafĂ© called the “Tutu Tea Room”. It was definitely an ahem coincidence, but you just have to believe in destiny, don’t you, darlings?! The scones were delectable.

After the whirlwind of the Hippodrome performance, I decided to explore some more of Coventry’s local beauty. I discovered the beautiful Charterhouse Heritage Centre, a Tudor masterpiece that oozed historical charm. It truly took me back to the time of the Tudors, and I imagine myself in that setting with a pink tutu, serving them tea. (Now, that would have caused a stir, darlings! Haha!)

Oh, and speaking of my tutu, I can't go without mentioning a mishap. One of my favourite tutu ensembles, a glorious confection of tulle and sequins, got tangled in the backseat of the taxi as I was rushing from the Hippodrome. My heart sank! It took about ten minutes of frantic untangling, a healthy dose of perfume, and a whispered “Please don’t tear!” before my tutu was rescued. Crisis averted! But a reminder to always keep your tutus well-organized. I may love to dance, but I love my clothes even more.

One of the best things about my job is meeting people from all walks of life and sharing the joy of spreading some sparkly magic wherever I go. Coventry welcomed me with open arms, and I know I've made a few new fans. And maybe even converted a few sceptics to the power of pink! It’s no wonder my ultimate goal in life is to get every single person wearing a pink tutu!

Now, off to plan my next trip - Edinburgh beckons, and it's time to find the perfect pink tutu ensemble for a city full of castles and history. And don't you dare think I'm leaving the pink feather boas behind!

Until next time, keep shining, my lovelies!

XOXO,

Pink Tutu Sparkles
