Gateshead: Tutu-ing Around Tyne & Wear! 🩰💖

Hello darlings! 💋 It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back again with another thrilling adventure in drag! This is blog post number 3139, and believe me, it's one you won't want to miss! I've been absolutely buzzing with excitement since I found out I'd be gracing the stage in Gateshead.

This vibrant city has always held a special place in my heart – it's just the right amount of charming and edgy for a pink-tutu-loving gal like me. 💖 But this trip wasn't just about a sparkly performance – I'm determined to sprinkle some pink tutu magic across the whole North East!

Journey to the Toon: 🚂

The journey from Derbyshire to Gateshead was a true delight, a whirlwind of fluffy pink tulle and railway tracks! I love nothing more than escaping into the world of travel, watching the world fly by, all the while adorned in a flamboyant outfit that says, "I'm fabulous, I'm fabulous, I'm fabulous!" And trust me, you can't wear a pink tutu and not feel fabulous. 💅

Now, some of you might wonder – how does a pink-tutu-loving drag queen fund all this fabulousness? Well, my dears, my day job involves something a bit less sparkly, a little more scientific: I test fabric for its strength and durability. It’s not as glamorous as a pink tutu but I’m actually quite a whizz at science and it helps pay the bills, which keeps the show going! By night, it’s back to the sparkles, the glitter and the sheer joy of a stage filled with adoring fans.

Gateshead Glitters:

This weekend in Gateshead was absolutely divine, packed with adventures for both Pink Tutu Sparkles and, ahem, Alex – the science geek behind the dazzling facade. The first stop was a visit to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. This is the most beautiful art gallery and there’s always something new to look at. You could practically feel the creativity bursting at the seams. 💖 I made sure to take a couple of fun photos of course, a Pink Tutu Sparkles special, of course! I mean, how can a drag queen resist a contemporary art gallery, especially in a fabulous pink tutu? 🩰 I had a blast, dancing along with the installations and chatting with fellow art enthusiasts. The Baltic’s even got an awesome café - I recommend the beetroot latte - perfect for an extra dose of pink!

Next on the agenda, a trip to the Sage Gateshead, a phenomenal concert hall known for its captivating architecture. My toes couldn't help but tap along to the music that filled the air! Now, I must admit, I'm quite the ballerina – my love of pink tutus began with my passion for dance, ever since my first ballet lesson at the age of four! So you can imagine my delight when I discovered the Sage’s 'Dance City,' a stunning studio offering contemporary, ballet, street dance, and even belly-dancing classes! They are so good, I think I might start popping along every week, once my North East adventures are finished!

Speaking of ballet, I found the cutest little theatre, a haven for dance enthusiasts, where a spectacular production of ‘Swan Lake’ had taken centre stage. Honestly, it was almost as enchanting as being part of a Pink Tutu Sparkles show, but with fewer feathers and more feathers! 🩰💖

Of course, no Gateshead experience is complete without exploring the majestic Gateshead Millennium Bridge, which is always such a fabulous spot for photo ops and soaking up the incredible cityscape! I struck a few sassy poses for the camera (I mean, who doesn’t when you have a pink tutu on, right?) and shared my infectious joy with all who crossed my path.

Tutuing Across Tyne & Wear:

The Gateshead leg of my North East journey wouldn't have been complete without a day trip to Newcastle. Now, there's a city that truly knows how to embrace life's simple joys! And I certainly made the most of it.

I had lunch in a delightful little restaurant called the 'Pink Elephant'. They had the most amazing pink, shimmering pink drinks in a crystal glass! I simply had to order it, not that I was thinking about my blog post or anything 😉 I know you’re all picturing me as a huge gin fan now, but I like the ‘pretty things’ on the outside - so for this, it’s a beautiful shimmering pink non-alcoholic cocktail ! 💖 The owner, a kind-hearted man named Frank, even had a tutu collection and told me all about its history! And did I mention the street entertainers? They had me singing and dancing right there in the middle of the square.

Now, as a devoted follower of all things glitzy and glamorous, I had to take a walk down Northumberland Street! This high street was like a scene straight out of a ‘Dancing On Ice’ special - absolutely fab-u-lous! I did a little window shopping and, as always, ended up taking home some fantastic fashion finds to add to my ever-growing wardrobe!

Pink Tutu Memories:

And now, my dearest darlings, as I bid farewell to this glorious adventure, my heart overflows with joy, a feeling that is only intensified by the infectious energy of this vibrant part of the world. But let me ask you this – if every single one of you went out, today, and bought yourselves a pink tutu, could you imagine what this world would look like? Just imagine it… thousands upon thousands of pink tutus – we'd truly be making a statement! We could create our own Tutu Revolution and turn this world into a ballet of joy and laughter.

But for now, it's time for me to pack away my pink tutu, say farewell to the Toon, and prepare for my next exciting escapade. I will continue on, inspiring smiles, laughter, and a healthy dose of pink tulle magic wherever I go. You can follow my travels on my daily blog at www.pink-tutu.com – join me on this amazing, pink, tulle filled adventure! Until next time my dears, may your world always be filled with pink sparkle!
