Twickenham: Tutu Dreams & Railway Journeys! 💖🚂

Hello, darlings! It's your Pink Tutu Queen, here with a new post from the wonderful world of sparkly sequins and tutus! 💅💖 This is post number 3206, and you can find all my previous adventures at www.pink-tutu.com. It's a right whirlwind, this travelling around the UK in my glorious pink tutu, and today, we're headed to the picturesque Twickenham!

So, darling dears, Twickenham is a place I’ve wanted to visit for ages. Not just for the Rugby – although the sight of all those lads in their kit does give me a giggle, I have to confess. 😉 No, my attraction to Twickenham has to do with something altogether more graceful and lovely! 🩰✨ It has this gorgeous little theatre tucked away, oh, it's so perfectly quaint and charming, with an amazing programme of shows and performances!

Getting to Twickenham wasn’t a problem, darling! It’s an hour and a half from home by train, which is practically no time at all when you're surrounded by the bustle of a British train! You get those interesting chats with friendly folk on your journey, a cuppa to keep the nerves steady (well, I need that – nerves, that is), and those delicious smells of boiled eggs and a hint of crisps from fellow passengers... that is proper travelling! 🚄

Now, don't get me wrong, darling, I do love me some road trips too. Sometimes the road just calls to you with open arms. I had this incredible journey across the Peak District to visit a quirky vintage shop, with its shelves of gorgeous dresses, vintage hats, and rows and rows of silk scarfs… Honestly, it was like I stepped into a rainbow wonderland! And the owner was so nice - she even offered to teach me the art of millinery with my own beautiful creation! 👒

But really, for a day trip like today, I have to say the train just beats everything. Those plush green seats (yes, darling, it was a first-class carriage!), the gentle rocking motion… It's like a little spa for your soul, letting you completely unwind before a big performance. I swear, after a good train journey, I practically have my stage costume sorted out in my head by the time I reach my destination.

This time, Twickenham is for my annual Ballet Ball! I got to meet this lovely woman, Agnes, who is in the committee for the ballet club - they’re quite small, so we all need to pull together. I told her I'd be the guest of honour this year. It is a huge thing in this tiny village! They asked for some "glamour and sparkle" for their night. Agnes told me there’d be lots of dancers with amazing talent, which honestly was a huge draw, as well as some wonderful local dignitaries, not that they get me that excited! 🤣

And darling, they weren’t lying. The show was absolutely enchanting. These young dancers, some only just teenagers, but filled with talent! Honestly, their passion for their art is so incredibly infectious, even someone like me, who always feels a little stiff and clumsy with those elaborate dance moves! 🤣

Now, of course, I couldn't possibly go without making a statement with my own outfit. And this one, my darlings, is going straight to the hall of fame on the pink-tutu.com website. I know, I know, I'm biased, but it really is breathtaking.

It’s a magnificent two-tier tutu made entirely from shimmering, rose-gold silk with the most gorgeous detailing you've ever seen - sparkling sequins hand-stitched around each rose in a dazzling pattern. I had to make a trip to Nottingham to get this one… a proper treasure! ✨ And if that's not enough, I’m sporting a custom-made bodice made from a pink brocade - just perfect to offset the rose gold in the tutu - and covered in these fabulous miniature faux pearl flowers that just pop in the stage light! The look is totally fit for a royal! 💖👑

Now, to really set the scene, darling, I took it upon myself to find some accessories. The first? A pair of vintage silver ballet shoes, hand-painted with an elegant, twinkling effect… perfect for making my arrival even more graceful! I went to my local vintage shop to get those - a lovely lady, but we almost didn’t agree on the price of those silver slippers, a right bargin at 12 quid for the pair… though it nearly resulted in my drag queen powers causing a scene right there! Luckily my fellow drag sisters in Derbyshire are used to this kind of shenanigans from me! 🤪

Of course, no outfit is complete without the perfect pink makeup, with all those glitter highlights to catch the light and make me shimmer under those theatre stage lights. ✨ Now, you might be thinking that I use gallons of make-up for my show-stopping act, but it’s not like that at all. For this occasion, I have to be just that bit subtler, for something more demure. A more toned-down makeup look can be even more effective, don’t you agree? I want that delicate, classic look, almost like an actress from an old Hollywood musical! 💖💋

And, last but certainly not least, a gorgeous bejewelled tiara. 👑 I mean, what's a Pink Tutu Queen without some royalty, darling? And oh, let me tell you, it was spectacular! So, for those of you following along on Instagram, you know my drag is all about glitz, glam, and yes, definitely lots of sparkles, but today was all about subtle, sweet and graceful… well, almost! 🙈 A graceful, pink tutu princess, darling! 💖

That's how my night at the Twickenham Ballet Ball went! It was like a wonderful fairytale dream, where everything just glittered with joy, and a joyful sense of community that is infectious to those who have had a bit too much sparkly pink goodness and enough of the Pink Tutu life! 😉✨

I know, I know, you all wonder where the Pink Tutu Queen goes to next, right? I know I do! And honestly, my lovely, lovely readers, I can’t tell you that quite yet. 🤐

All I will say, darlings, it will be fabulous, glittery, with lots and lots of dancing… maybe even more ballet than last week! And we're gonna have lots of fun along the way. I hope you're all ready for the adventure… I certainly am! 💖💖💖
